This is meant to be very funny....

Written and directed by Eric Sykes, this is a classic silent comedy about two workmen and a plank of wood, with chaos not far round the corner...

Proper comedians. Hot.

Fantastic piece of comedy:thumbsup:

This is brilliant. Thanks OP, very tempted to get this and show the kids, not sure how they will react though (they do love Dad's Army so hopefully...)

Just wish they would re-release the box set they did, The Plank / It's Your Move / Rhubarb Rhubarb / Mr H Is Late.
Great find however and very hot.

Still, just one more thing to say:

This is the original and best version of The Plank. It was also remade around 10 years later, still with Eric Sykes , but a different supporting cast.

I originally saw it as a supporting film, though I can't for the life of me think which film it supported.

Actually the above version originated from an earlier sketch from the tv show in 1964 and was in black & white. Upon that they made this 1967 short.

The later remake from 1979, as mentioned by spock1958, was good, but this is the 1967 original which is much better. Thames TV decided to re-shoot The Plank (and Sykes' later "silent" classic Rhubarb) in the late 70s and spoiled them a bit in the process of cutting them down to fit into a 30-minute ITV slot.

This is a very funny film - well worth three quid.

Cheers for this, the book I got for me dad for his birthday hasn't turned up, so The Plank will be a nice surprise.

Awesome piece of comedy gold!

Absolute class!

My mum bought me The Plank on VHS about 20 years ago when I as little. Think it was the 1979 version. Haven't watched it since I was a kid but remember it being really funny at the time!
