So I was reading this article on the BBC Website
bbc.co.uk/new…979
...about some classic Albums being released uncompressed on Blu-Ray. I decided that I should try and get hold of one just for the heck of it.

After a bit of hunting, I found "The Rolling Stones: GRRR!" 50 Track Best Of Compilation on Amazon for just £10.21.

Now that's a bargain, lots of classic tunes, in the best possible quality and cheaper than the Amazon MP3 album or the CD version.

great buy; superb sound quality.

To save you all copying+pasting: http//www.bbc.co.uk/new…979

It's a great idea - it was promised when DVDs first appeared, but nothing happened.

Really, of course, we need the EMI back catalogue - The Beatles, Pink Floyd ....

Aw don't say that.. There will be hundreds of hukd members miffed off that they wasted £1.99 downloading the entire pink Floyd back catalogue on mp3 from amazon if thr sound quality isn't as good

Gonna give these Blu Ray Audio discs a go. Something for the audiophiles this one.

Blu-ray Audio ought to be the natural successor to SACD and DVDA. The latter formats generally required special players but Blu-ray Audio will be compatible with all BD players. However, I've no doubt that the music industry will find a way to cock it up, as always.

Good deal for the disc though. I'm not a Stones fan but I'm tempted.

About time! Might get me listening to my 3 or so DVD-Audio discs in anticipation. I saw some BR audio listed on amazon.fr, but a little pricey at the time. Berlin Phil and Mahler V on high resolution - dreamy, man.

I also was amused at the rebirth of the cassstte market -about 25% of sales. Death of the mp3?

Great deal for this album

Original Poster

Well the interest in that died pretty quickly.

Just one last thing I want to say about it though...mine arrived today (together with Bob Marley Legend (£12.19)....and the boxes also contained a voucher for a download of each album. I tried this out and the Stones Album downloaded as a 412MB zip file containing the tracks as 320kbps MP3 which you can import into your preferred MP3 player software.
So it's £10.21 for the album on Blu-ray and MP3s - it's even better value than I thought.

Shame hardly anyone noticed this - but it's their loss, I'm happy.
