I am very pleased with this book, not only does it contain useful information (so most times you don't have to google for info as your questions are answered in this book)but it also contains many delicious recipes for the baby which, some of these you can also follow to make non-puree food for the whole family. They're quick and hassle free to make as well. As compared to baby food that is sold in pots or pouches, these actually do have much more taste! (without even adding salt)
All info and recipes are well organised by the baby's age so you can follow step by step. Makes the idea of weaning the baby sound easy and the process more enjoyable.
The book also contains nice photos and illustrations which are a plus.I resisted buying this book for ages because everyone kept saying I "had" to have it and that made me feel contrary. I own several other baby cookbooks by other authors, but finally broke down and bought it after going away with a friend who kept demonstrating amazing recipe after amazing recipe. We've had the book a week now and my daughter is eating better than ever - and I can taste how much more interesting and complex her food is than what I was making before.
The book is really user-friendly, with recipes sorted by age - no flipping through endless pages to find the ones that are OK for 7 - 9 month olds, and the menu planners are a great starting point to go off and create your baby's very own dining experience.
I am now an Annabel convert! I don't agree with some of the things she says such as using baby rice as a first food but the recipes are brilliant and easy to make. It's separated into chapters with useful info on feeding babies of different ages. The recipes for older babies can easily be used for the whole family. Well worth buying if you find weaning a bit daunting or just want some ideas for nice recipes.
I love this book. I started off with the Gina Ford weaning book which was a great start but as soon as my little boy was established on 3 meals a day and had worked his way through the individual purees, we moved on to AK's book. Like all Mums I wanted to give my baby the best possible start on solids but had no idea where to begin once he needed to eat combinations of food or recipes. I've only used the recipes from the stage 2 section so far but each one I've cooked has been delicious and my little boy hasn't disliked a single one! On the whole the ingredients are all things you would have in your cupboard so it doesn't work out to be crazy expensive either. AK's portion size suggestions are great too.
