Description
As with the other games and expansion packs in the series, you control the life of your Sims completely – or almost completely – as they go through life, buying or building a home, getting a job or getting into the dating scene.

3403142.jpg
There were no defined story arcs in the original game, but later expansion packs and add-ons issued challenges to the Sims, giving them missions to perform or career paths to follow. This game is still largely a sandbox game which gives you plenty of scope to decide what your Sims should be doing with their lives.

3403142.jpg
However, like children, Sims can unexpectedly resist: some of these traits are more coding issues, such as going on a date and choosing to sit at opposite ends of the bar, shouting through the crowd to get a flirtation going, while others are just apparent personal quirks, like not using the closest bin and walking a minute or two to find another that they like better! These quirks are engaging and keep your interest on the game: it would be dull if everyone just did what they were told!

Hope it helps someone.

downloading now. Not sure if you have to keep connected to vpn throughout the download of both origin and the game so will be doing so. Will post an update when i know the full size.

UPDATE: Ok so used vpn to sign up and get Sims 4, once it started downloading I disconnected from VPN and it continued to download fine. Will update once more when the game starts up

Update 2: Started game up no problems when disconnected from vpn

EA giving away the game, presumably to generate more DLC sales and possibly because a sequel is due sooner rather than later now. Nice deal. Will get very hot in here!

But the product itself- the game's performance has always been poor. Last time I looked at it was in 2016 on a brand new £1500 PC. Ran bad. All these years and the money it generates and it's never been fixed up to run well. I downloaded and played the PS4 version on a Pro model last week with the free games to merely see how good it is in 2020.

Runs trash on that as well. Stuttery and slow. Classic EA. Time to test this on an even more muscular PC, but I'm not optimistic!

Seems to happen a lot lately. Games being free else where or on sale for a just few pounds.
It's just like Destiny... They make the money from the DLC. I do enjoy the Sims but it's obscene how many add-ons you have to buy.
I got this last May when they made it free as well. I guess their plan worked as I’ve pumped a fair few quid into the DLC since then.

I played the OG version back in 2000, and then Sims 2, but skipped 3 entirely.

This definitely relit my love for the franchise, but it’s far from perfec

It seems to me that your VPN is set to a Canadian server. Therefore that’s why you are seeing it at 40 dollars, put it to USA server and you should get it for free. I just did it now and it works!

What's a free USA vpn

Windscribe is one of the many options - link in my description above.
Is it become a microtransaction game?
I was going to pick this up, but it turns out I already own it. Was it given away for free before?
I have tried to do this but I am unable to see the "Free" button that has been mentioned. Can someone please let me know if there is something I am missing?
This was also free in UK a while back
666 heat... Nice

You can just get this for free on a 3rd party site with all the rip-off priced DLC. I mean if you get all the DLC direct from EA it's over £300. Ridiculous as hell
never thought sims could be so funny

How can you do that, by pirating? Yeah, you can get everything for "free" when you steal it.

But I agree, the DLC is so ridiculously expensive, they're encouraging a lot of pirating.

Current additions of all the DLC are £400+ bit ridiculous to say the least. Some packs are buggy, and some add very small but expensive things to game. Content quantity and quality down from Sims 3.

I skipped Sims 3 but I remember thinking Sims 2 packs were too much extra cost, though at least those added a ton of content!

Sadly not according to the Vpn. Says US.
Why do you think it's set as Canadian?
Maybe I can contact support

Seems to show as New York. I've tried a couple of other locations. NordVpn.
It's not a massive issue, it's only the Sims 4, just a bit frustrating.

It’s a Virtual Private Network. It’s software that allows you to connect to websites via a 3rd party server that makes the website think you are somewhere else.

You can get free ones but it’s generally better to use a paid one. I use NordVPN.
I've been trying to do this since y'day installed the vpn shows up as USA, comes up as FREE. But when i enter my UK login info it says there are tech difficulties? do i need to create a new US origin/ea account? any help much appreciated, thks
Apparently I already own it, must be from a previous freebie!

Had no problem logging in to the US store with Windscribe with my normal origin account.
Windscribe was set to US Central, Atlanta - Mountain, which is available with the free version of Windscribe.

Just by looking at your URL(on your address bar) on your image, there’s a part which says “can”, it should say “us” or “USA” if that’s the case that your VPN is saying this, then I suggest you should use another VPN, like for example windscribe as OP had mentioned

Not working for me, Account is in USA, using NY VPN and detected me and redirected to /usa url, still $39.99
not working for me, will try again tomorrow ... after i rested my brain a bit
Ahh got it free when it was free for us brits last year! was it not free in the usa last year then? If it was maybe it will be free in Britain again soon?

people thought they gave it free because they thought Sims 5 was going to be announced last year but it wasn’t so people were quite pleased with that.

still though after spending closer to £60-80 on sims 3 dlc packs just before Sims 4 got announced, this time for this game I can’t bring myself to do it again, nor play this one, i took it cos free is free ( but it’s because I watched my now ex GF play probably a hundreds hours or more of it that I don’t know if ai can muster the energy and time for it, certainly can’t afford all the dlc neither)

PSA - it has or had a laptop mode for lower spec machines too, so should you want it but not sure if you can play it quite probably, but possibly not a chromebook or anything with a atom processor, especially once you start adding dlc. (Check online to see if this still works though and hasn’t been patched out)

once your into the Sims and the dlc Ecosystem it's hard to get out again!

When my ex bought it years ago It ran on my weak i5 laptop with intel built in graphics by turning on laptop mode, so I am quite shocked it wouldn’t run on a £1500 system this sims was built to run on low end systems so they could make more money out of it, did they patch something to cause problem? It’s been a whil since I saw it last, played years ago!

39879466-ykaBO.jpg
Obviously it didn’t look that great on my laptop but on a £1500 p.c it should have been superb
