This is about quality not quantity

Well if that's the case I'd rather go to the pub for a proper pint and to watch the game in peace n quiet lol

Good price but it's still not for me. 2 litres if capacity and the time it takes chill to the correct temperature (even with the refills in the fridge) means you won't be drinking much more than 4 beers a night.

The instructions mention the 2l things need to be pre chilled in the fridge to 6C then the gadget lowers tempto 2C. Users say that takes 1hr! Rather bizarrely the instructions mention the beer is fresh for 15days. 2litres over 15days ? They must be drinking from a thimble!

I looked at it to see if I could hack my homebrew into the thing

I have the bigger more expensive version of this..it works well, and the closest thing I have used to getting a “proper “ pint at home.

Issues are the Torps..the mini kegs that go in the machine...are still quite expensive, works out over £2 a pint.
Even that price is fine, as I say, gives a good pint at home...the issue now Is Heineken SUB who made them have now closed their website, and you now have only one option to purchase beers online.
I placed my first order with the new company..Beerwulf..and the delivery was not as promised...they use Yodel, so no surprise there.

If buying a beer machine that takes quite expensive beer, you really want reliability as to purchasing the beer....not sure I have that going forward.

I've been using this since last summer, and as long as the refills/torps are in the fridge, it only takes a few minutes to be ready for pouring. And it's so much better than cans.

What he says, as long as the label on the side of the torp has turned blue, as long as the Sub itself had been switched on for about half hour prior to loading, the light on the front turns green and it’s ready to go. Saying that I usually just pour the first pint before the green light as long as the torps been fridged overnight
Probably better off paying the extra for the full size version, the compact has had lots of issues
This will end up like your window vac, vegetable steamer and spirilizer...

Torps are too expensive, not voting either way.

I’ve had mine for 18 months and only buy the subs when on offer, now Heineken have stopped selling the subs I’m now concerned Beerwulf won’t have any good bundle deals.

Mine gets used all the time, beers and lagers are really fresh and the strongbow actually tastes very nice! Look at how much you pay for the likes of moretti in supermarkets, price isn’t that much more per litre.

Was going to say the same - the previous Sub website and Beerwulf are Heineke owned, clearly just a strategic change for them to have a single online seller.

I brew my own and I've a full corny keg system which works out pennies per pint.

Minikegs (like the ones Tesco's sell) and coolers are a better and cheaper proposition plus the minikegs can be reused for home brew (if you've any mates that home brew send them your unused ones, my deal is give me 4 get one filled in return )

I won't knock anyone for buying these, my mate has one and uses it all the time. In the grand scheme of things £2 a pint is a good bit cheaper than buying in a pub.

As I said I'm not voting either way as it probably is a bargain for anyone who has their minds set on buying one.

5l mini kegs with coolers like klarstein ones are terrible, personally I’ve tried 3 different makes of cooler/dispenser and they’ve all been sent back. You can also reuse torps for home brew, I’ve got about a dozen torps of ipa in my empties. £12 for the kit, but still much prefer purchased torps

I didn't know you could reuse the torps, I must speak to my mate and maybe come to a mutual agreement

The minikegs are OK but as I've a corny keg set up I don't use them anymore. There's many times I don't fancy a big session and 4 pints would be ideal. I've also built an outside bar but any time I fancy some home brew I've to go outside and serve myself. Great in the summer but not so great on a cold winters night

You're winning me around to this if the torps can be reused

Daft question but why do you have IPA in torps? Wouldn’t the Sub serve them way too cold?

The pipe that goes in a torp can be lifted out with a small flat screwdriver, rinse them out sterilise and refill with your own hooch, then push the plug/pipe back in the torp this is what they look like, I just wrapped the end with cling film37458150-LfFFL.jpg

Does that pipe come with the torp or is it part of the Sub? Is it easily damaged/ replaceable?

So 2 degrees is a nice temp for IPA? LOL

Depends on what type of IPA it is really. English IPAs tend to be served at a higher temp than an American style IPA. An American IPA at 2c would be perfect.
What is this Nespresso for beer?

Is that personal opinion only though as it’s certainly not the general consensus. American IPA should be served between 7 and 10 degrees.

It's part of the torp. Doesn't damage easily.
Got one for this price just after Xmas. It’s good. And the beer is good. The tiger lager is really nice.

I always keep a couple of spares from empties, you will get the odd torpthat doesn’t pour and just needs the line swapped over.

Good thinking Batman, I'll keep a few rather than bin them.
