The Sunday Times with free Spotify Premium-£2 per week. Save £23.88 on Spotify!

Ok, so this offer popped up on my Facebook.

The Times are offering The Sunday Times with Spotify Premium for £2 a week when you sign up for a minimum of 12 months.

I couldn't really give two hoots about The Times tbh, but Spotify Premium for me is £9.99 per month, therefore with this deal you save £23.88 over the course of 12 months on Spotify charges alone, with the Sunday Times available in print form or on a tablet as an added bonus along with access to Times+ whatever on earth that is.

Hope its of interest to someone!

Not sure when the actual offer expires!

£2x52=£104 for deal excluding newspaper cost.
£9.99x12=£119.88 so the saving is slightly less at £15.88 unless I'm mistaken.
Still a deal if you are into subscription music.

If you're a student, you get Spotify half price, so look into that too.

You can also get it as a perk if you're a Vodafone customer on certain tariffs, or on Virgin media.

Good deal for me, thanks

Comes with Times + membership. That's worth a lot to me on its own - free cinema screenings, invitations to events, private views at the National Gallery....

Great find. Thanks.

I get my Internet through Virgin, so might have to have a look into that. There was something about T Mobile offering Spotify or Deezer but can't seem to find it now.

As for deal... Heat added as it'd a saving, but not sure it's enough for me.

Fair point, my bad!

Even just for cheaper spotify Premium this is a good deal, the Times is just a bonus or can be ignored

Haha, that was the main reason why I was drawn to the offer

Seems like a great deal.

£99 if you pay for the 12 months upfront.

Anyone know if you can add this as credit to an existing Spotify Premium sub or do you have to create a new one , and lose your playlists ?

I'm told you can reduce your membership to Spotify Free and then upgrade it back to premium using the voucher code they supply. So works for existing accounts.
This is in the T's and C's though..
5.1 Your Digital Pack costs £6 per week, and you will be billed on a monthly basis unless you cancel.

Probably just a carryover mistake from some other offer

I'd love to try Spotify premium beyond the free month but there's no way I'm supporting a Murdoch newspaper

The £6 price is their digital pack: ie, every day of the week online or ios/android app.
This is just Sundays....big confusing though.

And as is the way: existing customers don't get Spotify.

Hardly a deal, £2 a week for Spotify - Tried it and found it to be of poor quality when compared to other streaming services

I pay £7.99 P/M for Google Play Music

How is it poor quality? Are you wanting to stream flac music? You can change the biterate in the settings her higher quality.... If you can hear the difference..

Give a student a hug, use their NUS card, get 12 months half price.

Yes, you can. And no need to revert to free. It just adds on to the end of your latest monthly sub.

I took up an Ultimate subscription that came with 12 months Spotify and the latest Nexus. Was already a weekend + digital (not incl tablet) subscriber as well as a Spotify Premium user so worked out a strong deal once I flogged off the Nexus.

BUT, their recent referendum coverage as well as those who comment on their articles have left my **** boiling and I can't wait for the 12 months to be up so I can be free again!

How do you get it for 7.99 a month?

It was their initial pricing to get folks onboard. Think the offer lasted a month or so.

I think you can pay for Spotify Premium through iTunes store credit/in-app purchase so you should be able to get a 20% off by purchasing discounted iTunes gift vouchers (eg. £20 for £25 of credit)

so that should mean a £9.99/month subscription would cost £8 -- can anyone confirm this method works?

Correct, also, if you had a trial when it WAS £7.99, you can reinstate the membership at the old price.

I have tried both spotify and Google play music and preferred Google play music. I recommend you try both before paying for spotify. £2 a week isn't that much of a deal. It's £5 a month with a NUS card which can be obtained even if your not a student.

That right? I used the trial but Returned to Spotify as the missus and I can effectively use the one account (she ain't getting my Google account password!!!) but I did enjoy it and have thought about returning.

Why don't you read something else then? Yes you've paid for it, but if reading it makes you that angry!

looks agood deal ive been paying £9.99 a month for years

how does the sunday tmes get delivered to you on a sunday if its posted?

It says I will get vouchers for the newspaper. This is a great deal as my parents have the newspaper anyway and I really like it, so I can either give the vouchers to them or get it myself.

You also get 5 weeks holiday a year from the T&Cs, I would presume its not advanced enough to cancel your spotify as well so an additional 5 weeks!

Does this come with "Goals"? Had that with a Times membership before, really handy. Same as the old ESPN goals app, premier league goals videos available from 5:15. Saves you trying to stay awake through Alan Shearer's analysis

Because I paid for it, dammit!

To be honest, I actually like a lot of the non news stuff you get with it and some of the columnists and editor peices are good reads. I'll probably make the switch in May when my 12 months are up. The Times digital side of things was lightyears ahead of the competition but having looked at the latest Guardian and Independent apps (how I mostly read my news) they have closed the gap considerably. Still, Goals is great on The Times!

Great deal.

Great deal. I'd starting buying the paper on Sunday's and was thinking about resubscribing to the Sunday only option when this came along. Effectively you get:

- The paper/ipad edition every Sunday; depending on the option you choose.
- Access to the website (full access to both the Sunday Times and The Times websites during the week)
- Premier League highlights through the website or The Times mobile app for iphone/android. Not sure about ipad (I assume you'd get them on Sunday, not sure about on Saturday's or midweek).
- The Times mobile app to get the best bits of The Times/Sunday Times during the week.
- 12 months Spotify premium.

They charge £8.67/month for 12 months, which if you're paying £9.99 for Spotify (unless you're planning to save by getting one of their forthcoming family packs) is a bit of a no-brainer.

Thanks, great deal.

Signed up for the discount on Spotify and got the 1 year code within a couple of hours, added to my existing account, now next billing date is November 2015.

Everything else is just a bonus!

Hmm, I currently subscribe to spotify at £4.99 a month.

Doing this would effectively mean I'd be paying £3.60/mo for access to the websites and a sunday paper. Tempting!
