Lovely treat if you have a spare £1000 to invest!
Why would anybody spend £1000 for a 50 pence piece? Is it likely to be worth much more than this in future?

Edit: I see it is 22 carat Gold, can this actually appreciate in value? As I'm thinking about buying a couple as an investment.

It's a 22 carat gold coin, although at 15.5g of gold still well abovethe scrap value so you're placing a lot of value in the collectibility

Oh, is this likely to appreciate more than 1000x within a year like BTC did?

Still bitcoin, it's currently on a downtrend, and has rallied back 20% today. And will appreciate over 250% by year end.

If you truly believe that then put your house on it.
Just search 2016 silver proof peter rabbit on eBay and you will see how these go up in value, they could have been had for £65 on release
Absolute tat, you have to be a grade A moron to buy that crap.
Scrap value of gold is about £425 here. The price of gold would have to more than double to make this a good investment based on scrap price alone. Avoid as investment in gold only.

Unlikely to lose 50% of its value in two days..
OP you picked a difficult item to highlight on a forum like this. it's a commemorative issue and a lot of its value is accorded to to it by collectors rather than the value of the contents. Items of high selling price often don't have that value for example do those who buy Apple phones think about the 25p it cost some kid to assemble it in China?

I pretty much have put my house on it.
