THE ULTIMATE IN ALIEN TERROR

Over the years, star Kurt Russell and master of horror John Carpenter have teamed up on a multitude of films (Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from New York to name a few) but of all their collaborations, 1982 s horror/sci-fi amalgam The Thing surely tops the list.

A research team based out in the snowy wilds of Antarctica find themselves besieged by a terrifying, shape-shifting creature which has found its way into their base. When it becomes clear that the creature can take the form of any organism it so chooses, the tension within the team reaches breaking point any one of them could be... The Thing.

Critically panned at the time of its release, John Carpenter s The Thing has rightly gone on to become one of the most celebrated sci-fi horror efforts ever made now newly restored by Arrow Video in a stunning 4K transfer supervised by Carpenter and director of photography Dean Cundey

One of my personal favourites this film, I've watched it umpteen times over the years even had it on VHS for a while.
Great special effects by Stan Winston and the music is spot on.

Almost right, you're thinking of Rob Bottin who did the amazing practical effects.

You're right my bad
Great film, great disc. Managed to get the ropey prequel in cash converters on blu for 50p too so planning a double bill at some point in the summer... Or I might just watch the original twice.
Dammit! I bought the Blu Rays of this, the prequel and the remake last month... I bet this Arrow print is better quality though... to buy or not to buy...
Great price! If I didn't already have this I'd buy it.
Thanks, for £5.60 I'm happy to buy this again as an upgrade. My all time favourite movie!

Definitely buy it. There's nothing wrong with the standard release, but the Arrow release is 10/10 perfection. And this price is practically unheard of, I was happy when I won it used on ebay for a higher amount.

Your actually both right. Rob Bottin did most of the practical effects but Stan Winston did the dog-Thing creature
