Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape From New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing.
In the winter of 1982. a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

According to blu-ray.com the blu-ray transfer is very good-

Wonderful Film Heat added

one of the best horror films of all time. Heat added.

Nice transfer too.

voted cold - if this gets hot it will melt the snow and then look what happens...

great film - hot

Great film hopefully the one due out this year will meet expectations but probably not.

Apart from being a brilliant film, I'd also add that I found this to be one of the sharpest and best looking blu-rays I've ever watched. I'm no expert but I was really surprised, I put it up there with Bladerunner.

Great film thanks to the op

Great film and first time i heard they're making a prequel so thanks as i'm looking at posts by people on IMDB. Like you though, i have doubts.
I loved that the Carpenter version had older actors in it too, which made a change.

Love this film, real puppets > CGI guff.

Nice price. Havent seen it this low before. Very tempted.

Walkers 10% voucher to.

£6.85? You've got to be f**king kidding!

"I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FU**ING COUCH! "

Great film, WHY WHY WHY have they remade it.

robin hud

Great film, WHY WHY WHY have they remade it.

They're not remaking it, they're making a prequel based on the Norwegian crew found dead at the start of the film. The fact they're using Norwegian actors makes me think this might not be as dreadful as most prequels.

One of my all time faves.

Been waiting for this to drop in price forever.Cheers.

Superb film. I waited ages for a decent price for this but I finally gave in a few months ago, so hot from me!

Astounding film. Remember watching this with my dad at about 10pm on a saturday night when I was 14 - this was back in the days when the reasoning was 'if it's on TV is bound to good n wholesome'. Anyway, loved it and freaked the heck outta me.

Watched it at least 20 times since and always make a point of seeing it when it's aired on TV despite owning the DVD. Call it nostalgia.

Oh, and for the younger ones out there that haven't seen this - it absolutely has not lost any of it's intensity and shock and the effects completely stand up to those of films today. One of the best horror films in history.

I've had this on VHS, DVD and now going to get it one Blu-Ray. It's not overkill it's just a bloody good film that has stood the test of time.

Awesome movie. The defibrillator scene and the freaky spider head freaked me right out when i was but a nipper.

Amazing movie, cast is spot on in this and the story is pure carpenter genius love it..

Heated great buy, i have th BR rip of this.

Review if anyone is … Review if anyone is interested.http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Thing-Blu-ray/1063/#Review

Thanks, Great Review.

my favourite film ever!

The transfer is so good, it's like watching a different film.

Fanatstic film from the opening sequence with the chopper, 'says Norge on the side', chasing the dog to the great performance by Kurt Russell as Macready. As for the musical score that is just genius.

Class film, has aged well too!

As for the musical score that is just genius.

Morricone. Il Maestro.

Think I'm going to have to purchase this myself – even though I bought the original DVD on release (still sealed!) and quite recently the DVD twin set with the original Thing From Another World.

Heat Added

Brilliant movie, was lucky enough to see it in the cinema last year
