I watched that episode where the bishops got poisoned and the chef who did it was boiled in oil, a punishment specially devised by the king. Yeah, right, I thought, I never read about that when I was studying the Tudors at school. Turns out that all really happened... so that was one in ye eye for me.

What surprises me is that so much of it is accurate, not that so much of it is distorted (inevitable in any dramatisation. )

I don't think the show conveys well enough though that Henry was a spoilt, vain, lecherous c**t who needed to pillage the monasteries because he'd pessed all his money away on parties and hunting. Also by the time he was on his third wife he was getting to be a fat bartsard and I don't see Jonathan RM piling on the kilos, do you?

Now only £8.95 so still good value!
