Absolute bargain! I've already got the boxset and it is still almost as wonderful as i remember it being as a kid in the 80's

i thought it was just me,
it really hasn't been very easy to track down given its age and popularity.
you'd think the bbc had did it!
prob about ten years ago I met a guy who had imported the box set, that I couldn't find here.
he did my a dvdrip copy but it was awful quality, like poor vhs.
I always thought it was dvdrip that was the problem, maybe not?
especially with what Feargal has said in the comments above.

The original was shot on 16mm film, and then transferred to NTSC tape for editing. The 16mm film gives it a period look and wasn't super sharp to begin with, but does mean that in theory a new scan of the original film is possible. Not sure if it still exists though, maybe in an archive somewhere, and it would need the accompanying notes to re-do the editing work. They did it for Star Trek TNG, but it was expensive and time consuming.
So for now the this is the best we are likely to get. NTSC tape transferred to DVD, with all the resolution and colour compromises that comes with.

It was intended to be the first release to contain every episode in its original transmission presentation, although in the end this did not happen.[36] The set includes over 23 hours of bonus material." Not sure what is happening with the Deluxe edition on amazon for £75...running time is less than 9 minutes extra so pay extra £55 for less than 9 minutes extras, something not quite right there. Box art must be gold lined

In going by memory but I think the broadcast picture was soft back in the day as with certain soap operas and other programmes. But being so long ago and not yet owning this set cant say for sure really.- I think you've linked the wrong YouTube trailer.

Brings me back to my childhood where you get 4 simple TV channels with amazing shows. Roseanne is another show I loved- Well the only place I can see that has one is Ely. Classic show, but I don't know if I could watch 116 episodes of it, or anything. (edited)
