    It's around 22 hours.
The most in depth account going, well worth a watch.

Have watched the DVD from start to finish numerous times and, Olivier's theatrical pronunciation aside, it's quite superb.

If you haven’t already, and ever get the chance to visit Oradour-sur-Glane you REALLY must.

What makes it probably the best documentary?

One reason is that a lot of eye witnesses, soldiers etc were still alive when it was made.

The depth, the narration, the facts

And the fact that it didn’t have to rely on a shed load of computer generated graphics to aid understanding of the subject.

Can just imagine if made now there’d be loads of 3D nonsense recreating battles, etc.

    Man's inhumanity to man

Yep agreed. It's very annoying when people call everyone a Nazi in today's world for the slightest thing. If those people witnessed what happened in the death camps they would never want to utter the word.

Much as I would have loved a widescreen version, glad to see they got rid of that pigs ear version they put out on Bluray first time around!

Absolute classic and must see no matter how many times I’ve watched the series in full or a particular favourite episode.

So is this the better bluray version that doesn't have the cropping/pan & scan issues that affected the previous bluray?
EDIT - yes it is, it was the Fremantle version that had the cropped picture. (edited)

Yikes, too soon? Who would narrate it? I didn't even know they bothered transferring it to Blu-Ray so thanks. (edited)

Robert Powell, that's if he survives the acopylypse.

Bought The World at War series on video back in the early 90's, think it was one of the few videos that escaped a mass clear out about 10 years ago. Very likely in a box in the attic.
