Why would you buy an expensive television and then try and stick it up on the wall for a quid?!

Exactly

What kind of Idiot would trust a 27inch TV (approx £300) to a £1 TV mount....?

Would it not be more secure mounting your TV with Blu Tack than this?

only for the brave..

When we leave Europe after the referendum this is how we will support the economy by selling these cheap plastic TV brackets to the rest of the world, who says Britain doesn't make anything anymore hahahaha

I wouldn't trust this with my TV but I wonder if it could hold a PC monitor?! (_;)

Yes it's a well established fact that a PC monitor weighs significantly less than a TV...

If it works it's a bargain, if it doesn't it's an insurance claim.

I'm pretty sure Poundland sells Blu-Tac too.

I've seen an 8'x4' sheet of plasterboard hanging on a wall by one screw. A 27" TV won't trouble this mount.

this could actually be the worlds most expensive TV mount (_;)

probably the same reason you buy a £600 phone and buy a £1 glass screen protector or a 99p bumper hoping that your bargain purchase will be sufficient.

I used Velcro to put a 40inch tv on the bedroom ceiling above the bed on the wife's side but unfortunately its holding despite jumping around in the attic at 1am.

there is no reason why this would be a risk, an average 27" led tv without a stand is approx 4 kilos. the bracket is attached to a plasterboard wall using cavity wall anchors then the other part of the bracket bolted onto the tv, then the tv is placed onto the wall part. it's a flush bracket no moving parts and again it's British made so no cheap Chinese made tat. just because it's in the poundshop doesn't mean it's crap, just look at the Belkin stuff etc. this might have been destined for another major outlet not the poundshop.

You had a sound argument there, until you mentioned Belkin.

i was waiting for that however as good or as bad as Belkin maybe there are some Belkin bargains to be had i.e iPad air covers

Surely it that instance the value of the screen protector is governed by the components used in the construction? Glass being glass at that size is likely to be inexpensive. To guarantee the screen won't break would either require a much thicker, and there less practical cover. The gamble might be how clumsy or unlucky you are, where as a plastic wall mount.....

People who wall mount TVs in 2016 don't own expensive ones...it's just Polaroid and Blaupunkt (and the likes) owners that still think it's a good look.

£300 for a 27 inch TV? When was that, 1995? I bought a 42 inch Samsung smart tv for £300 nearly 2 years ago! I wouldn't mount it on a £1 bracket though ...

Dammit. Got to take my Sony and Samsung down too. Not sure where I'm supposed to put either of them though.

A few years back but if I do get another TV it will be staying on its stand

Original Poster

tesco selling a 23" refurbished blaupunkt for £69 that weights 3.6kg I guess with the stand, so a bit lighter without, this £1 bracket is ideal for a cheap tv like this one.

Unless you also paid £1 for your TV, I'd probably give this a miss...

Good question though as this is for a 27" TV it's largely irrelevant as sub 27" TVs aren't expensive (nor are they heavy enough to pose any pressure on a plastic bracket).
