Pretty good price for what's regarded as one of the better food probes available. Instant read (within 3 seconds). So ideal for the professional or the budding home chefs.

Not sure why cold, this is now an old model but so much better than the Chinese Lightning Deal tat. Use mine for homebrewing, it's brilliant.

It's fine, most will see £24 as a waste of money, however I've been waiting for these to come back down in price. For people who want a probe like this the price is very good.

Take one of these down Tesco and see if they're poisoning you.

Tesco`s have been "probing" their customers for years (_;)

I've been probing several females there over the past few years. They like to earn a bit extra on the side....

That one will break sooner, takes longer to give a reading, doesn't adjust as quickly, hasn't been professionally calibrated, doesn't have the same build quality. Etc. You get what you pay for!

ETI Thermapens are the absolute best probes you can buy, thats why you see all the chefs using them. This is half price and a great deal. Ive had mine for years.

If theres a probe that looks like it came from a poundshop, it would be the one you linked to

I have one of these and paid a lot more than this for it. A really good piece of kit. Heat!

got one very similar on Internet months ago for £3.99 and free p&p from UK. works brilliantly, so cold from me

This is a professional grade tempature probe, with a calibration certificate and it is half price.

This annoys me more than it should, but your 3.99 probe is just junk.

Honestly, this is the best instant read thermometer you can buy.

Nearly all probes are calibrated to + / - 1degree, so you really don't need to go over the top paying £24.

If that's your thing, that's fine.

But personally I find cheapo ones are brilliant. We use £3 ones at work for checking fridge temperatures, and whenever we calibrate them they are within + / - 1degree Celsius.
Local environmental health are more than happy too.

Sorry I dont understand, how do you check fridge temp with a probe thermometer?

As long as the probe is not destroyed pushing it into a medium, then it will display a temperature. The last I checked Fridges were filled with cold air. Now if it was solid ice or cooled lava, then inserting the probe would be problematic.
