If you're looking for a colour printer for a small business/home office and you've got a bit of desk space to play with this seems like a crazy price when you combine with HP's cashback promotion!

How much are the refills ? As much as the printer ?

Probably more
The most expensive liquid on the planet used to be Bull Sperm. Now its inkjet ink.

My advise Buy a laser.

Title should read- "This is a lot of money for the printer ink's".

It would be cheaper to print the title if you removed the extraneous apostrophe.

Epson for the win! HP tend to always be mega money for the ink cartridges …Epson for the win! HP tend to always be mega money for the ink cartridges from my findings...

Please tell me u are joking. I assume your referring to Epsons which do a cleaning cycle every couple of prints, clog up at the earliest opportunity and point blank REFUSE to print if the cartridge chip tells the printer it's empty (even though it's not)
Never again will I buy epsons after being a dedicated Epson user over 3 generations of printer.

Couple of pounds cheaper at Box.co.uk
Actually, it's £5 cheaper at Box.

i agree this is a lot of printer for the money. Lots of ink included in the starter cartridges, enough for 1500 colour pages. If you're doing lots of colour prints this is a terrific buy.

ink is available, but it's not easy to refill.

You mean, like this one? I tracked down compatible ink at Inkowl.com, but it's probably available from a UK firm, too.

I had a similar problem with my Epson WF2650 using both original and compatible inks,But now use refillable cartridges and no longer have endless cleaning cycles and the resetting is no more than pulling the "empty" one out and putting it back in,check out ink-girl on Ebay £20 for 4 refillable cartridges and 400ml of ink
Can someone explain whats is cashback means? I have no idea.... thanks in advance.
Laser is the way to go

Until you don't use them for a couple of weeks and the nozzles clog up, and are impossible to unblock, thus writing off your printer.

Happened to me.

You buy it for £99.99, then later claim £30 cashback (might take a few weeks to get back) total cost £69.99
Thanks Roger..

But how do you do cashback? Is it 100% sure I can get cashback?

And why dont they just sell for £69.99 instead of having all that trouble. Lol

I'm trying to think if I've replaced more inkjet printers because the cartridges are the same price as a new printer, or because the print heads are gummed up through lack of use...

Laser is great if you don't plan to use it often
Edited by: "DonnyBrago" 5th Sep 2017
Most printers are cheap these days. The money for these come from the toner costs. North of £40 for colour toners for any printer on the market
I would never entertain an inkjet, what a total waste of effort. Go for a laser, you won't regret it.

All 3 generations had the same problems?

1) Epson Stylus Colour 400/440 (First ever Printer). Thankfully no chip, but frequent cleaning cycles, and blocked nozzles and lines in printouts.
2) Epson Stylus C62. Chipped cartridges, also suffered exact same issues.
3) Epson stylus R300. As above - (printer failed completely after a mere 14 months and that was the final straw)

Then switched to a Canon ip6700D and what a difference! Infrequent clean cycles, nozzle blockages are extremely rare.
Replaced with Canon MG6450, Again, very good printer, which sadly died on me a month ago and wont turn on (probably PSU failure).

Just bought a HP Officejet 7612 A3 printer and so far so good. Would probably have gone for this deal if it had been around at the time. WIll go back to Canon if things go pear shaped i reckon

3 generations of printer! So about 12 months worth. If you go by the buy a new printer when the ink runs out theory.

Tell me how you come to the conclusion thats 12 months worth? Do u even know the sales dates of those printers?
It's more like nearly a decade. First printer came out circa 1995/6. 2nd about 1999 3rd about 2003/4.
The canon ip6700D (now donated to my grandparents) is now over 10 years old and has outlived and outperformed every epson i've had.

Well say if 20% of people forget to claim, instead of paying out £300 they just pay out £240. It is hassle but worth it if you persevere.
