Shane Meadows masterpiece on Blu Ray. Hope the TV series continues in the same vein tonight...
- sharkalos

Twelve-year-old Shaun is a tough kid who is street-smart beyond his years despite being short for his age. He falls in with a group of older boys led by Woody who hang out at a local cafe like to commit minor acts of anarchy and adopt Shaun as one of their own. But when skinhead Combo gets out of jail he returns to the gang eager to take over the reins and lead them on a nationalistic battle to get rid of the immigrants who are stealing their jobs and is prepared to defend England to the death.

Very nice price, This looked awesome on C4 in HD, be even better on BD :):)

Yes, this is a masterpiece and a great price - but unimpressed by the first episode last week. Hopefully gets much better. Looking at the credits the first one wasn't even directed by Meadows only written by him.

That's right mate - I read somewhere that they've let the Skins producers loose on this. It will be a real shame if they ruin it. Fingers crossed eh?

Seen this in Morrisons for a fiver as well on Blu-Ray. May be store specific (Glasgow Fort) so I've not bothered posting it, but might be worth a shot if your passing a store.

Was nationwide at Morrisons, I presume they'll be well sold out by now

Not sold out yet, Hartlepool branch still has stock. Seen the film and thought it was poor.

Poor? WTF? Each to their own I suppose. For me this film should be mandatory on the National Curriculum for the intelligent way it tackles racism and bullying.

Not too bad a film. Not as great as its cracked up to be though. The message is rather clumsy and heavy handed imo.

Good deal for the Blu-ray version but IMO nowhere near as good as 'Dead mans shoes', this is like the 'PC' version of being a skinhead.

My sentiments exactly. The good skins were too sweet to be wholesome. American History X, Romper Stomper and The Believer are all superior movies dealing with skins and racism.

Agreed. Was looking for something special after the reviews and found it lacking.

Indeed it should but, unfortunately, it carries an 18 certificate. I used part of the film in a Year 9 Citizenship lesson today but muted the volume at a choice bit and paraphrased what they said. Maybe I was being overly protective (or covering my own back) as half the kids had seen the film anyway, which made the discussion far easier.

Probably due to the Shane Meadows involvement....however if you want to see worse, may I recommend 'Once Upon a Time in the Midlands' where Mr Meadows takes a cracking cast and makes them act through two hours of solid turgidity. I'll never get that time back again and surely that can't be fair !

Seen worse..Just couldnt get over the poor acting.

Couldn't have put it better myself "Wolf", I found it a big dissapointment after the way it had been talked up in the media.

May I suggest that you possibly haven't seen "Shark in Venice" starring newly bankrupt and newly christian ex-BB housemate and "take any role" Usual Suspects ex-star Stephen Baldwin.
