The comedy icon returns to mark the 25th anniversary of his BBC debut. This evening weekday magazine show is a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, and lightweight frothy drivel. Presenting This Time 'as live', Alan tries to keep proceedings ticking along while everything around him crumbles. This kind of format can flip in the blink of an eye from a moving piece on child soldiers in West Africa to a VT about a vegetable growing competition in Yorkshire. With the sheer variety of topics covered, striking the right tone would be dizzyingly hard even for a skilled presenter. So, for Alan, it will be pretty much impossible.

So this. Last episode is some of the best Alan ever.
Aha!
Give him a second series.

Thanks for the heads up! Grabbed this and MMM. Been waiting for a MMM price drop for ages! Now, finally, I can expand my Partridge quote vocabulary!
Crash bang wallop, what a video
Lynn wears a coat that was advertised under the words “strong coat for sale”.
Good price although they are on iplayer for a while anyway if that's better for anyone

Ooooh, you’re gonna have a good time!
I think TTWAP is currently free on Iplayer. Rewatched it on there over Chrismas.

I disagree. With MMM and TT, Coogan has made Ape’s character flourish.

KMKYWAP, IAP, MMM and the books are superb - not my words, the words of Shakin' Stevens.

Not as keen on this although there were some really funny bits.

Yabba dabba doo! No, Abba dabba doo!
Does it improve as the series goes on? I watched the first two episodes, couldn't take to it at all and stopped. It wasn't bad, just not particularly funny, and I felt a pale shadow compared to KMKYWAP and I'm Alan Partridge. I can't really begrudge it not being on a par with the first series of IAP because that's one of the greatest (and most quotable) comedy series ever made.

So from all the comments I feel like I missed out on something now.
