Thomson DTI6300-16 Digital Television Recorder £79.97 plus £5 delivery

Found 5th Jan 2008
My Humax's hard drive died and after reading the Computer Shopper '07 PVR review I decided to replace it with the Thompson as it seemed to do everything my Hummy did but is considerably cheaper. I found this price from Tesco Direct which is £10 cheaper than Argos who are out of stock. The cheapest Hummy is £140 direct from Humax.

The TopupTV pack which it comes with can fetch up to £30 on ebay too.

I just popped into Asda and they were £89.99 in there.

agree not the best, but for the money, picture quality is good.

Trouble with this product is that the fan runs constantly, so if you are in the room with the TV off, you hear a constant humming.

Thomson box is a nightmare had one 2 weeks sent it back for a refund.Best to buy it instore try it out
yourself then take it back for a refund.

Got one from argos before christmas, at it looked to be just what I neeed.
Setup was quick and easy, but...............
it froze,
failed to record one program
the fan was so noisy my wife wouldn't have it in the house, it was going at 5000rpm constantly.
There are loads of vents on the box, so damping the noise with foam would probably overheat it.
No option not to have the pay services installed, you have to go through and switch off the services one by one, otherwise the disk space available is small.
Add to that the user interface isn't that nice, there are more reasons not to buy than to buy.
Managed to take mine back.
There are plenty of other options out there for just a little bit more.

Tesco were selling this for £150 instore when I called in last week so I thought £85 was ace... Sadly reviews are not very favourable. You get what you pay for? Not at Tesco matey boy!
