Thomson flights to Orlando - just about in the school holidays? - £318pp - 14 nights

Wasn't looking for flights in particular but had the page open and was playing about with dates and noticed the above.

These flights are for 14 nights which means they land back into the UK on Thursday the 7th September, which might not work for some/most/all? (_;)
Pretty sure my kids go back to school on the 4th or the 5th but that's mine and mine broke up a few days before others so I'm not entirely sure when different areas are back in school?

Price is based on 2 adults, it's nearer £300pp for a family of 4 and unlike lots of other airlines/attractions, children are children until they're 17 as far as Thomson flights are concerned? (not sure if Thomson holidays is different?)

Showing good availability from Newcastle and Gatwick (Newcastle being the slightly cheaper option, about a fiver pp more expensive from Gatwick)
These prices don't include checked in luggage!! That runs at £60 pp which is annoying!! (don't think there's any free luggage codes or money off around at the moment?)

Cheap for what they are if you can make use of them?
The same flight from Gatwick a few days earlier is over £750pp oO

So factor it into your budget then. Why do people seem to think that airlines are some sort of charity

If you're not bringing back a lot of souvenirs then it's easy to do Florida with just hand luggage.
You can but a load of cheap essentials from Walmart and bin them after use. Spend the whole time in shorts and T-shirts, and people staying in villas will have a washing machine and dryer.

But it's never the flights that are the expensive part of an Orlando trip, it's the park access. But if you go and stay at Cocoa, or on the gulf coast and just have a beach holiday it can be a very cheap getaway.

It's the 'entitlement generation' thing! We've bred a whole generation who don't understand how the world works.

"Dear rickj, we're happy to include 20kg of hold luggage with your long haul flight booking but unfortunately we've had to increase the price of your ticket to £378. Kind regards, Thomson"
At least you can select how many bags to take and up to the night before can add on more bags. We booked family of 5 = 40kg, but night before added an extra 20kg on. Worked a treat. They also allowed an extra 5kg hand luggage for medication free of charge.

Not looking really as I can't go, but...........

Saturday 26th august to Saturday 9th September (lands back in the UK on the Sunday, 10th), £376pp for 14 nights, based on a family of 4.
Nearer £400pp for 2 adults.

Depends when your kids/grandkids go back to school, if you were taking them with you (_;)

Yes I understand how it works as I've been to Florida 5 times and plenty of long haul with Virgin Ba Emirates ,non of which add on baggage charge on long haul.It ends up with everyone cramming their last items into as much hand luggage as they can get onboard and then there is no room in overhead lockers and you have check in staff saying 'shall we put your hand luggage in the hold free of charge ,,It's a safety issue as in event you need to vacate the plane in a hurry the cabin is jammed packed and yet the hold is half empty ...has the penny dropped yet ? Nothing about entitlement just common sense .The overhead lockers CANNOT accommodate hand luggage and the odd bag on a full flight .so why not reduce the luggage price to a level where people will happily avoid all the hand luggage nonsense and pay to fill a area that is built in the plane for transporting your luggage ,it's designed for exactly that not a empty space with 5 cases in it. We have all tried to fight our way off a full flight with the cabin full to bursting with bags .
Unless you have your own gaff best of luck taking hand luggage to Florida for 2 weeks .
If you need any more common sense ideas let me know.
