Don't think so, when I put a three phone sim in a tablet it wouldn't work.

Bought this when it was posted a while ago for slightly more. Worked well, but quite slow in France. Mostly 2g or 3g. Nice for driving across France and getting cheap data though.

Apart from using this abroad, can someone tell me why anything is better than a basic bt deal, in order to be able to use the unlimited wifi/fon which comes with bt broadband deals, home or mobile ?
Isn't it worth five or ten pounds every month (depending on the exact deal) for unlimited uk wifi ? I don't really make paid calls or send texts and so am only ever interested in the internet aspect.

Yes you definitely can use it in your phone I have tried and it works fine.
BUT you can not make calls on it but strangely it will receive calls and you can not top it up with credit too make calls it's just data.

I know this has to be used within 12 months but anyone know how long you have to activate it? I was thinking of getting one (due to good price) but don't need it for a few of months - would the 12 months start from then? Ta!

If BT's wifi network covers everywhere you need internet access, then it's a great fit.

However, that's rarely the case.

yeah I'd love to know this too. would be perfect to use in my dual SIM phone

it would kick in as soon as the sim card is put into the phone.

Can it be used for tethering? I have a 3 mifi, could I use it in that?

This is getting sodding cheaper and cheaper?!.

I myself Posted one of these very same Deals too some 2-3 months back! (but for £2-£4 more though?, if I recall well?), lol. :-)

I bought the same one a few months ago. It did not work at all in my dual sim phone for data. It only works in a mifi device. So I bought one of those and it does work very well.

It may not work in all dual sim phones because many can only have one 3g sim operational at once. As 3 don't have a 2g network then it won't work unless you can switch your other sim over to 2g.
I've found on my moto g dual sim that if I set the phone to use data on the 3 sim, then it all works, and calls etc come in on the other sim. However as soon as you switch to data on the other sim then the 3 sim stops working, as it can't connect to 2g.

I got this for £20.44 last week by pasting a link from Amazon into Flubit, think it came from MyMemory.

Just to answer the questions that inevitably arise from this deal;
This is a data card. You cannot make normal calls or send texts with this sim. It can receive calls or texts. You can make whatsapp calls and messages with it.
I have a dual sim phone and use this as the data card and use a talkmobile sim as my calls/ messages card.
I can tether with this.
Others use this abroad for data roaming although I haven't.
Just pop it in and it works, no messing.
Three sim sizes come in pack so will fit any phone/ tablet/ dongle.
It is 24gig for up to 12 months from activation. You can use it all in a few months or use a little and then loads another time. It is not a monthly allowance. When it runs out get another one. If you go to three.co.uk website when using it it will give you how much is left on card.

You can definitely receive calls on this SIM and I'm pretty sure you can also top it up and use it to make calls (at the 1p 2p 3p rate of PAYG on three).

I'm planning to make this my main SIM, as I almost never use calls.

Can this be used on an old phone (HTC M7) to play Pokemon Go? for a child, instead of running round with my shiny new phone.

Yes it definitely can be used that way.

If you use this sim in a tablet you can also download the '3' app for a quick check of remaining data.

This has been a live saver, purchased this before going to Paris a couple of weeks ago. Used in a WIFI dongle, I had to unlock the dongle but found a cheap ebay seller for £1 and got that done. Unlocked the WIFI dongle, enabled roaming options on the dongle and used out in Paris. And got 5 people connecting to it freely. Put the dongle in my backpack and people around me used it.

Used my phone and other phones connected to this hotspot and we used the data quite easily. If we used roaming data it would have cost me easily £16 alone.

As per gib;
Get unlimited calls and texts plus 500MB of data whilst abroad in our Europe Zone for £4 a day (inclusive of VAT where applicable).

Some days I used more than 500MB and it would have costed me additionally £3 per 75mb.

Its a good purchase especially going aboard.

Your comments are exactly correct apart from the 24gig unless you bought two sim cards because you only get 12gig.

Thx op a hot deal! Ordered 2 they will be great for travelling at least until Brexit...

In response to the "will it work in my phone" I'm using one now in a Huawei P8. Good 3 coverage in Devon where O2 is non existent.

Can someone in the know please confirm that you can infact tether with this from your Phone in the UK but not whilst abroad unless inside a Mifi device??? If this is true what's the best value Mifi with decent battery life as will need to invest, or perhaps someone has managed to tether with this whilst abroad?

thanks in advance :-)

Yes I agree with this!! Some people are saying that it CANNOT be used for making calls or texts but I am pretty sure that I have, in the past, added some cash credit to a 3 Broadband SIM (using the My3 web account) and that it DID then work for making calls and texts!

I stand to be corrected!

Since its only 3g aborad, you can pick up any MiFi device on ebay - starting for around £20. I have the Hawei ones are they are fantastic. Search for MiFi.

I spent a month in the USA using this method.

Data is data; whether emanating from the phone's browser, or a PC via the phone's WiFi hotspot.
Beyond being less reliant upon battery, MiFi is an utterly pointless device that's duplicating functionality present in every modestly capable phone.
It's only £pple that tried to differentiate and premium-ize such a fundamental feature.

I have a MiFi and in no way is it "utterly pointless"!!! For anything except very brief use I would rather use a dedicated box with a battery life of 6 hours or so - rather than run down the phone

Thanks for the response but so far reports show that people are not able to tether from these data Sims with a smartphone whilst abroad but others have reported a work around with a Mifi. I also would prefer not use a Mifi device but perhaps in this case they are not so pointless. Anybody??

Thanks for the advice seems like huawei is a good cheap option.

These are great for basic whatsapp and web browsing when abroad but be aware that streaming TV/Youtube or any bandwidth intensive task is not happening abroad as Three throttle it heavily. This can almost certainly be removed if you use/buy a VPN or UK proxy. (Going to test this hypothesis next year in Spain)

I phoned 3 yesterday as I have a SIM only contract with them, my thought was to increase my data to all you can eat for a month whilst we are overseas in September and everyone could tether from me but the lady on the phone Said *NO* tethering abroad and the data limit is capped at 12gb per month (this is fine for this SIM obviously
