Guaranteed Cashback is provided by us and is paid by bank transfer into your account 99 days after connection. No claim necessary.

Prices may rise annually - full details here

Mobile contract providers tend to increase your monthly tariff by inflation - and exactly which measure depends on the network:

Three: a Fixed Annual Price Change, 4.5% this year.
O2: RPI plus 3.9%.
EE, Vodafone: Consumer Price Index plus 3.9%.

The date of the adjustment also varies by provider:

Three: April
O2: Announced in Feb, effective from April
EE: Announced in Jan, effective from March
Vodafone: Announced in Jan, effective from April

What is Sim only?

SIM only is just that, where you only pay for the minutes, texts, and data you use on your sim-card.

You will have to supply your own device i.e phone/tablet to insert the sim-card into, hence why it's called 'sim only'

Good, if you can get a signal and decent speed. Unfortunately, most won't.

Are you having to lean outside a window to get these speeds, as others have hinted? Also can I ask how much you paid and where you bought it from . A quick check on Amazon shows some very mixed reviews for this product at approx £85. Of course there might be some "user error"!

No, it’s in the middle of my house, but on the top floor.

I don’t use it as a router, it’s in bridge mode (modem only) and the Wi-Fi is turned off.

Bizarrely, I got consistently faster speeds with the antennas pointing straight back.

I got it reconditioned on Amazon for £85. Probably the same listing you are looking at. Was the only 1 at a reasonable price that clearly stated it could do bridge mode.

I tried getting that ID sim, although it was a proper £9 a month rather than "effective" but failed the credit check twice. Apparently they're pretty hardcore on who they accept, even for sim only deals.

Went with Smarty in the end after lowering my expectations about what to expect with Three and it's been fine so far. I can stream what I usually stream without any problems so it's worth it until something better comes along.

Hmm recently managed to get 160GB, unlimited calls and text from in store at EE (not online) for £16pm. Ok it’s not unlimited data but 160GB allows me to stream video/music for 10+ hrs a week when commuting on the train and I still have over 1/2 unused. I’d much rather EE coverage.

Since we're doing that .. this is my speed with Smarty when I'm standing by my front window.

    47089250-guI4a.jpg
Literally 5 paces away from my front window and i get this ..

    47089250-jQE4R.jpg
But then I'm not too bothered as I'm at home and i'm always on Wifi at home anyway. It works well enough when I'm out for Spotify e.t.c.. so it's worth the tenner a month.

I am testing the ZTE MF286D.

    60-80 down, 20-30 up.

Better than my 35/6 BT line.

No issues so far, another week and I’ll cancel my BT line.

Ends in May. I've switched to O2 after nearly 20 years with 3.
Blaming Brexit is an easy copout, they offered the service (in more countries than EU legislation requires) before the EU implemented EU roaming for networks.

I'm currently with superdrug who piggy back the 3 network. They haven't announced any roaming charges as of yet

From 23 May 2022, customers who have taken out a new or upgraded contract after 1 October will have to pay £2 a day to use their monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data in the EU.

    *BBC news

Smarty (a three subsidiary) reckon they aren't reintroducing them at the moment.

I'm with Smarty who use Three. I'm currently getting 300mbps download...because I'm right under an antenna. The week before I was getting 4mbps 5g download.

They have some great SIMO deals, they piggy back on O2 network and guarantee no price increases for the contract duration - and have free roaming!

Thanks again for your response and additional context. You seem to have quite the network setup!

Yes the antenna positioning seems counter intuitive....but if that works best, then...

Plus, as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words.

Still significantly cheaper to stick with Three.

    Netgear MR1100
    Cat 16
    2.4ghz & 5ghz
You'll want to buy a used from ebay though.

What people don't appreciate is you can have a fast sim... but you need the router to match.
