Seems a reasonable combination, but if you don't like contracts, prefer unlimited 4G data and benefit of buy when required, the 3 PAYG All-in-One £25 option giving unlim 4G data for 30days when tethered via the FoxFi app in a compatible Android handset may be more flexible.
could you put instore only in the title. I have just spent 15 minutes on the website looking for it!

Doesn't matter that it's a phone. The referenced item provides unlim 4G cellular data via wifi, USB or bluetooth, and gives you 500minutes and 3000txt to use within 30 days, and provides inclusive Feel at Home roaming.

Mate unfortunately you can't use a phone sim or all in one 25 plan in iPad,mifi, router or cars , it will stop working after 10 minutes !
That's why data sim does exist !

Please re-read original post (post #1). The handset SIM with an AIO25 add-on will function as described.

No bandwidth cap; truly unlimited 4G data. KFI may identify restrictions but FoxFi normally circumvents everything.

To expand: attempting to use native Android tether when using a 3 SIM that has tethering restriction will normally result in the 3 "block" message. Two ways to typically workaround: one not always successful is to try again in a handset or a device of which 3 has no record of IMEI (so a device that is not branded 3). If that is also blocked, obtain the full version FoxFi (not the freebie version) and install to a compatible Android phone, where "compatible" means the FoxFi app runs. Most handsets from early versions of Android will be compatible, some with Marshmallow may not (yet) be compatible. I am not aware of any definitive list of handsets that are compatible with FoxFi or not as reasonably there are just too many handsets in circulation for any organisation to realistically test. A tailored websearch of <> may help identify compatibility via other users who have posted their successes or not, but from my small group of buddies' experience they haven't yet found one that isn't compatible, even the ultimately cheap Alcatel Pixi 3 3.5 works with Foxfi, and probably the current volatile stock £9.99 delivered Pixi 4 direct from o2 will likely work as well when network unlocked with a 99p unlock code.

You answered it. EE/3 4G does not go over 30MBPS here...its not capable on MBNL joint network - both networks tech support eventually admitted it to me.

Mighty miffed at EE I was because they swore it was top speed EE when I took my 12m sim out - the MBNL network in the real central Scotland is falling to bits as it was with T-Mobile, upgrades and add ons to old bits they and 3 admitted backhaul upgrades were needed along with more capacity, so they restrict to 30MBPS even though their coverage says otherwise!

Dodgy practice to advertise one thing...3 Broadband would be a laugh here because 4G is very limited to town/city centres & not what the coverage maps say. Moving in the right direction though, 3 Broadband will force them to do upgrades to MBNL sooner (than the later 'sooner' we keep hearing about)
Just picked this up inside Churchill square in Brighton!
Well chuffed no other network shop including car phone could come close with no upfront

Most of Brighton has perfect 70 down 30 up

Making it much cheaper than having a dedicated internet line
Will this work with the 20m Masterplug extension reel @ Screwfix deal?

Obvious idiot
May have 3 firmware but the open source code is available if the RJ11 (phone socket) is not useable on 3
I would assume as these are old that it has came from 3 Ireland stock as 3 participated in National Broadband Plan

I have unlimited data contract but FOXFI (PDANET) only worked upto lollipop upgrade on wifi tethering - can you point me in the right direction for yours if different - please message me

PS bluetoooth tether works ok but slow

I reckon you'd get £80 for the router...worth putting into the mix if you mainly want the data.

i just like to my 2 pence in regarding data sim vs the payg 25 sim .

i used the payg sim tethered as mentioned above via foxfi and though it worked initially without problem there were numerous issues that came about for me

firstly 3 introduced traffic sense between 3pm and 12pm net speeds were disgustingly slow i found out there was no sensing going on but set management between those times whether the network was being highly utilised or not in my area at least

they started inspecting data packets differently because after a few minutes of use with the phone tethered with foxfi usb the connection would slow down to kb range , to test this i would log on to a vpn on the android phone and the speeds went back up to mb range

i was never able to tether over wifi foxfi, 3 always seem to detect i was tethering only way was foxfi usb phone tether

when tethering over foxfi usb tether, after long use the connection/foxfi would seem to get overloaded and stop working , after stopping/reloading foxfi it would work again

I am not sure if traffic sense is still as strict or implemented on the data sim but is something to consider

great info..this is where we all need to be at..I for one am sick of paying close to 18 for a fixed line (which i never use) and could never reach 70 down in a fit!....Im going to do a check around the house and find realistically the 4g speeds we can expect..off peak and on etc...

Checked with buddy running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a bargain-basement Doogee X5 Pro & wifi tether on Foxfi v2.15.2 is working fine.
Bought this a month ago. 40gb for £20 is a good deal IMO. You do get feel at home and if you have a MIFI the sim is transferable

Feel@Home is better than nothing with no add-ons! Thanks for update/info Peter
I've been with with 3 since they first started in the UK. Had several phone sims, router sims (called MiFi back in the day) etc.

Over the last few years, as the brand has become more well known due to deals, marketing, more subscribers etc. their speeds have got worse and worse and worse. Even their 4G speeds are seriously ropey and nothing close to the speed of home Wifi. 4G performance around London is particularly bad. Even for iPlayer HD type streaming it's serious ropey in terms of speeds. Just too many subscribers on the 3 network these days and not enough capacity.

Give this a miss if you can.

It was fine with T-Mobile as MBNL but since Orange merger/EE you are right, 3 has got worse, even worse since the parent company sold its inhouse call centre business in India after years getting them up to a better standard.

They are quite poor, third party tech staff in India are hopeless and neither care about speed issues. They eventually admitted my region was capped speeds due to capacity and 4G upgrades needed by MBNL (EE also admitted the same) if you can get good 3 speeds its great, if not its a poor deal. No network I have used in this region goes over 30MBPS here for all the bumf they market - even at 2-4am when the network should be much better on all counts.

Yup, Three just don't have sufficient bandwidth. EE have almost twice as much and not as many customers yet.....
OK so I managed to downgrade a oneplus one phone I had to Android 4.4.4 and have installed the full version of the foxfi app. I can't seem to get the USB tether to work on my mac running Sierra but have tried wifi tethering and that works OK on my 15gb data only three sim card. Getting around 20mb up and 20mb down compared to 1mb up and 9mb down on my home broadband!

Will buy one of them unlimited 30 day sim only plans and pop it into the oneplus. I'll update this thread on if it works successfully with no caps

Really hope it does I'm fed up cos we can't get fibre or cable broadband
