Three Data Reward SIM now *FREE* with 200mb FREE every month(no topup required).

This sim is supplied as a broadband SIM, but its the same one as discussed in the thread below, without the 1gb preloaded and more importantly without the £10 charge.

So it should be able to be used in a phone too. So is effectively a 123 sim that saves you £2 a month on data. Calls and text 3p and 2p with data at 1p mb after you've used the first 200mb!

Original thread..hotukdeals.com/dea…207

Edit:

Thanks @sxd1 CONFIRMED YOU GET THE FREE 200mb WITHOUT THE NEED TO TOPUP. Only email registration required.

Topup needed to use calls and text facility.

Minimum top up to use calls and text is £2 of international credit. Thanks @hgtompson

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

THIS IA NOT A BROADBAND LITE SIM, PEOPLE THAT SEE THOSE RATES ON THE THREE SITE ARE LOOKING AT OLD AND WRONG INFORMATION.

++++++++±++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

After you've used the 200MB, it's 1p/MB or buy an add-on to get better value.

Texts are 2p each.

To activate use the 3G/4G connection and go to three.co.uk/fre…ata .

Thanks to gx3k in a previous thread for this information.

So I can drop this in my tablet and use abroad for surfing?

If your tablet is big enough
Only on HUKD will people moan about something that's free. Brilliant.
My SIM card arrived today (ordered on 15/04), and here's what I've found so far.....

When I popped the SIM into my MiFi device, as soon as I browsed to any web page I got a splash screen saying I needed to top up. So I went to three.co.uk/fre…ata as advised to register for my free 200Mb.
This part is easier said than done as you have to be connected to the internet via your Three SIM card to complete the registration process, but then they send you an e-mail with a link to click to verify your account... though of course as you've got no data (yet) on your Three SIM, you have to find another way to pick up the e-mail!

So after doing this, I can see I have got 200Mb allowance in MyThree... however was still getting the splash screen on every website telling me I needed to top up. So rebooted my MiFi device, and all was good, am now browsing the net using my free 200Mb allowance... not sure if the reboot was necessary, or perhaps it just takes a few mins for the allowance to become active.

So, next I shoved the SIM into a phone handset to see what it would do.... all looks fine initially except you can't make an outbound call as you get told you don't have enough credit - to be expected I suppose. So I thought I'd try a top-up as apparently the minimum top-up is only £2.....

So back to the MiFi, and log back on to MyThree to attempt a top-up using a credit card. By default you get prompted to buy a 'Mobile broadband bundle' which starts at £15 for 2Gb.. however if you scroll down and click 'More options' you then get options for what they call 'International cash roaming add-on' with various cash amounts ranging from £2 to £50. So for £2 thought I'd have a punt to see if this is effectively a cash top up which can be used for texting / calling at 321 rates.

So back to the phone handset again to see what we've got.... So firstly dialed '444' to check it was recognising the £2 credit - which it was. Plus I can now make outbound calls. Sent a text message as a test, and hey-presto my new balance is £1.98 which confirms I am indeed being charged the 321 rates of 2p/text.

So in summary... this SIM is fantastic as essentially it's a 321 SIM but with the added bonus of 200Mb free data per month, and to answer the question everyone has been asking... it DOES work in a phone and you DO get charged standard 321 rates of 3p/min and 2p/text (and 1p/Mb once you've used the free 200Mb per month). From what I can tell the credit never expires as long as you make a chargeable activity at least once every 6 months (i.e. send a text). It appears you don't need to top up to get your free 200Mb (though I suppose you'd have to top up eventually as they'd cancel your SIM after 6 months otherwise I guess). You do need to top up of course (min £2) if you want to use this in a phone to talk or text.

200mb!? Is that it!? Big deal...

200mb is more then enough for some + what do you expect for free ? Would cost users on the 123 account 2 pounds normally

Good deal, voted hot !

it says that the free 200mb can be used in the feel at home countries as long as you register. Bonus !
Thanks, off to Spain next month and looks like I'll get a signal with this.

People in the original thread say it works. The needed £10 to order put me off but now it's free I ordered 2 so I will confirm when they arrive.
Being daft but what's the on going cost of this ... Say just want it for abroad?

Top up or chargeable event (send a text) every 6 months.
Nice find
Where does it say the price of calls for this sim? As when you top up £5 worth of calls on a normal 123 sim you get 150mb free.

Presumably these aren't mutually exclusive as you need to top up in order to send a text, so you can't just get this SIM and enjoy 200Mb data a month for ever at no cost?
Presumably the difference here is you get a few months use before you need to top up £10 to keep the data going?
200mb!? Is that it!? Big deal...
A measly 200MB then 1p per MB after that....
This could end up being very expensive!
No thanks.....

Do you need to change the tariff to 123 after you get it or is it already set up like that?

Technically no, but at 2p a text, £5 is enough for 125 years if you used it only to send one text every 6 months.
Nice one, will be fine for my mifi dongle and android car stereo for satnav

Thanks. Ordered one.
Can I use my existing Three PAYG sim and sign up for this deal?
I have a 123 account and it works well for me as a low user. Biggest problem is viewing what I am charged being for. I can see my current balance online but there is no the detail. When I top up I receive 200Mb of data which expires in a month. To avoid a big bill I leave data off and wifi on.
Can existing 123 pay as you go customers register for this?
I can vouch for 3 when it comes to using it abroad. I bought a bolt on of £20 on payg and got 12gb. Face time / Skype worked great though normal video and music streaming couldn't cope oddly??? For browsing web anywhere it was slower than the UK but good enough. I will probably just go for the standard top up next time as it barely touched 500mb in the week I was there.
To avoid any scared with unexpectedly high bills, this is the way to go. Heated.
scares^
so is this saying that I can get this free sim and use it for up to 200mb of data without having to top up at all?

I assume the 200mb free every month is instead of rather than in addition to 150mb for every top-up?

If so then anybody who spends a tenner a month would be better off doing two £5 top-ups via My Three and having 300mb of data.
What about the Deezer deal where they gave a free 6 months to 3 customers, would this work with that offer (if it's still running)?

They're probably doing this to put FreedomPop out of business, despite FP using Three as host network.

Good riddance to FreedomPop anyway, I'd be more than happy to pay 3p per minute for calls rather than use their god awful VoIP network

They throttle video streaming services while you're abroad.
I use a mifi when I'm in Greece but at the moment pay for a local sim when I'm there. Would this work there? I'm not on 3 as they don't include Greece in their feel at home countries but am looking at switching my uk mobile away from talktalk.

Well it would work there but as it's not a Feel at Home destination you'll be charged their standard roaming rates for data, and won't be able to use the 200MB.
so does the credit last indefinitely?? ta op by the way!

Thanks. That was exactly what I needed to know.
I think feel at home only works on payg when you buy a bundle with your credit. This was the case in December 2015, it might have changed since then I suppose.

...and do you get a reminder as your 6 months nears, or we would need to set our own reminder to send a text?
So 200 MB FREE Data every month without Top-up??? for how long? or am I missing something ?
