First posted deal here and I know you lot can be a pretty hostile bunch without proof, but I figure if it saves someone some money i'm willing to take some flak! I'm letting you know in advance this deal is probably not for new customers, not online - I dealt with them over the phone and may well be some kind of loyalty bonus.

I'm an existing 3 customer coming to the end of my contract (end of this month) and wanted to get the HTC desire. They don't have it in stock until the 20th, but got a call today from them saying i'm a valued customer (aren't we all?) and offered the following

HTC Desire @ £50 handset cost, dispatched on the 20th
500 Minutes
1000 Texts
Unlimited internet (1GB allowance when questioned)
300 3-to-3 calls and Free Skype (for what that's worth)
£16 Per Month
18 month contract.

Total price: £338 (cheaper than buying Sim free apparently! Yay!)

My word of warning though, my experience with 3 has been pretty poor. They've regularly hassled me recently during this "upgrade month", have a terrible customer service program which I suspect is in India and have made a few billing errors. They also have a tendancy to whack a load of 3-orientated software onto their phones, but dunno if that's the case here. It was with my N95.

I appreciate this isn't going to benefit everyone, but I wanted to make the two happy 3 customers in the UK know that they can get a Desire for cheaper than T Mob if they ask nicely (by threatening to leave)

Yeah I guess there are probably going to be quite a few of these cropping up. Sorry, Three really don't want to lose a bunch of customers to T Mobile by the sounds of it.

Isn't it a deal though even if they're doing it for existing customers?

I still think they're a terrible company lol.

hope this is a deal, im due to come to end of my 3 contract @ moment. think i currently pay a tenner a month thanks to a price glitch on here from a while back with the Sony k850i.

but its another x amount of time with 3. seriously hate ringing their customer services........

I've had them ring me 7 times this week.

Saying that, it's better than my experience dealing with T Mobile recently. They managed to mess up pretty much everything imaginable before I even had a credit check done, spoke with a dozen different customer services people and then once they finally got my details right - they forwarded me to credit check people who hung up on me 3 (three!) times and then failed the check. Had to get a written dispute done by T Mob's customer services and had it overridden - but it's just expensive and time consuming.

They're all as bad as each other.

just called them up. contract is up 2nd week in may & ive been told to call back in around 2 weeks to get 'better' upgrade deals. did get offered HTC Hero or Nokia X6 but couldnt be bothered talking about the mins/texts/cost etc.

couldnt offer me the deal in this thread, but may be worth threating to cancel and see what I get then.

I then phoned a different customer services operator and got the PAC code and then got offered this. Don't be afraid to really let them know you mean business, I swear every year to cancel with 3 and every year I get suckered back in - but £16 per month is a pretty damn good deal.

I've been with them now for 3 years, but only had serious problems with them recently.

i actually like making the PAC code phonecall. remember last year it took me about 45 mins to get it out of them. ended up proper shouting and the just saying PAC Code, PAC Code, PAC Code.....

i think the only way to get this deal is to threated to leave and then they will come to their senses. lol. cant wait to try myself but i still got 2 moths left. might try ealier anyways lol

Been looking all day for a good offer on this phone and the best I found was:

£25/month 18month contract on orange (through two well televised phone websites). 300 mins, U/L texts and 500MB Broadband so this is an amazing deal! Not to mention Orange have a nasty habit of butchering their phones software to use all their services and decorating them with their logos!!!

In fairness, this is the first time they've offered me a decent deal - but they do genuinely phone at all hours and repeatedly when it comes to a contract ending even if you say you'll contact them first.

They dont offer the same retention deals to all customers.

I had 2 identical contracts with them.

Rang up to cancel both after contracts were up in next 30 days.

They gave me a corking deal (500 mins/100 texts/1GB internet/Sony Ericsson C903) - 12 month deal for £9.90/month

Asked for the same deal for the 2nd contract - and they refused! They said each retention deal differed and it didnt apply to my 2nd contract!

Spent a month hagglig & threatning to leave - they didnt relent, so now I only have 1 contract with them.

tmobile customer services is terrible they are based in the philaphines and cant do there job properly they were so much better when they were based in england!

I can only agree with the customer service stuff - but surely that's a good price? What would be a better deal?

Pretty warm deal, but i would not go back to 3 after having dealt with their indian helpdesk . . . . omg it was a nightmare and i'm a patient guy!

T mob quoted me the same specs, but for 25 a month with the phone @ £90. Pretty much identical cost (I think - the outlay's higher but monthly cost lower) but T Mob have apparently a great customer service and they've just merged with Orange.

Purely for the reason that it's 3 then I'll have to vote cold... Any other network and it would have been hot
