Thanks op and welcome
I got mine reduced to £6 with 2 month left on contract. Hoping for even less when contract ends.
I got offered this when I called last week to renegotiate, but bare in mind this is the Essential plan, not Advanced so no tethering or worldwide roaming.

But if those features don't bother you, £7 is a nice price.

(I did need those featurws, so left for Plusnet (angel))
Three do some great deals but their reception is absolutely terrible. It's like offering free petrol in the middle of the antartic

I've travelled a LOT with three and the coverage is shit unless you're in a populated city. In fact their shit coverage nearly caused a major issue when I had a motorcycle accident a few years back - no coverage, couldn't call anyone - by some luck a pickup was driving in my direction and helped me out.

..and before you give me shit, I have a three sim sitting right here (100g/£20pm), and yes I carry two devices given their terrible coverage. If you get coverage with them great, but go in with your eyes open

Some of us are wiser, I have 3 & the EE £6 deal and a dual sim with o2/Voda Payg sims, all calls divert with no signal between all the networks and I never miss a call

I never understand people who have signsl issues with three. Been with them for years travelled all over the country and never encountered any signal related issues. Now my o2 or ee work mobiles signal wise are poor.

That's awesome you've had such luck, I've been on the m25, m3, m4, a27 etc etc with sod all signal. I'll check my google location history, even that showed massive gaps in tracking when I last looked.
How do you get these deals, everytime I phone up they say these deals don't exist and won't budge from the deals that are online. I'm due an upgrade and have been with them for 8 years.

I don’t live in the highlands anymore so no need, besides up there a satellite is more useful for Broadband than Sky/calls as calls are fine on BT exchanges there excluding dial up, ned.

People forget it’s not just ‘coverage’ that counts but what handset and frequencies it uses. I found Android the worst, Windows Phone middle players and Apple as no 1, the ‘radio’ frequency and hardware/files are key to good coverage and Android fails big time in that regard in my experience.

That's true but most phones handle 800/1800LTE (including mine). There is something to be said for a decent 1:1 SWR matched antenna - though given the wave lengths that's pretty trivial

Three don't allow a lot of Android phones to use 800Mhz (have to have three firmware to use) whilst any iPhone from the 6 will work no matter where it came from, it's why some people think iPhone has such better signal ability.

I've not heard of this selected handsets that can use band 20, 800mhz. Do you have a list of evidence of this?

Tell them your leaving and they will offer good deals to keep you.

I'm on Three and their coverage is hit and miss. It's fine where I live though. Vodafone are much better, In the Countryside you hardly ever get a signal on Three. My wife is on Vodafone and it's much better so at least one of us will have a signal in an emergency etc.

Look up 4G Supervoice on the Three website (same holds for '4G Calling' on EE), if the handset is not shown as compatible, which is all iPhones, a few generic Android phones and a lot more Android phones only if using the network firmware, it is not allowed to access VoLTE and if the phone cannot access VoLTE it is not allowed to use band 20 (the main reason being you could have signal on band 20 but not be able to make calls as there is only VoLTE available for calls).

Got it for £7 also, so chuffed! Thanks for the post and heat added!
They wouldn’t do it for less than £10 for me so I told them I would find an alternate deal and cancel. 9 years I’ve been with them as well! Bt wound me up once and I’ll never go back going to run out of option soon haha

That list is very limited:

It is, and can make a big difference to coverage, especially in rural areas. Here's an example:

non-Supervoice device

Supervoice device

I'm not sure if I would want to use Three with a non-Supervoice (so no band 20) device anymore, especially if using it outside the big cities. I bought a sim free Galaxy S8+ and immediately flashed the H3G firmware on to get VoLTE/Band 20/WiFiCalling.
