Three offered me a retention deal - 2nd or 3rd call about cancelling

Brought up the EE £4.50pm deal from Mobiles.co.uk with 7gb data/unlim/unlim and asked for cancellation

The EE deal mentioned: hotukdeals.com/dea…068

They offered me one of the 2:

UNLIM DATA + 200min £5 per month

8GB DATA + 600min £8 per month

You have to speak to them for a while, and also note I have been with them for 5 years

This is a 30 days rolling contract!

Both of these are standard(not essential) plans, and hence include Feel at home, as well as WiFi on the underground

Not bad at all, I was paying 18 per month for 200 mins unlimited data , cancelled it last month.

This sounds way too good to be true, I had the unlimited everything for £15 a month until recently when they pushed me off saying they were stopping offering it. Best deal I could get after several phone calls was £15 for 12GB data with unlimited calls and texts. If this is true I'll be more than a bit annoyed at them, you got a great deal if so.

Seems a good deal. I'm currently on 200 mins, unlimited data (supposedly 30 Gb tethering) for £23 (Was half price for first 6 months and £50 Quidco).

Customer service is a joke. Left and went with EE, signal not suffering from the usual loss I got with three

Seems to good to be true, good on you op if you have managed to get it but I doubt anybody else will ever get this.

I tried so hard to get a retention deal from three anything like I found that people claimed to have got on this site without any luck at all.

I actually wonder if the deals claimed here are just to get people to ring three?

wouldn't be the first time a company has spammed itself on this site

What an utter bloody joke. 4 months I called them for, for a retention deal... 4 bloomin months. Was pushed from pillar to post dozens of times, over and over again. Like an idiot i kept calling back thinking YEARS of of being a customer might eventually mean something to someone but NOOOOO... i bet they have lost thousands of customers hence why they have started with these deals. the best they offered me was 500mins, 5000 texts, 4gb data, NO hotspot for £13. needless to say I left but it was a 55min, 7 'different department's, gruelling phone call just for a pac code! never again.

8GB DATA + 600min £8 per month seems sensible, but the UNLIM DATA + 200min £5 per month with FAH on a 30day arrangement seems erroneous (would expect £15 maybe) but great if an error is in your favour. Congrats.

I find it hard to believe you got a £22 a month discount. Also what £4.50 deal? It doesn't exist on mobiles.co.uk unless I'm blind...I'm not calling you a liar, but this does all sounds to good to be true...

The EE £4.50 was available and was posted on this site 2 weeks ago, when I purchased that. It includes 7gb unlim minutes, and I got it myself. But only called three today to cancel

They did indeed mention I would be saving £22 a month

My brothers contract was due up last week and he ended up getting 30gb data, unlimited calls and texts for £15 a month for a 12 month contract.

My 30 days notice on my conttact is due on Thursday so going to phone and see what the retentions department offer me to stay. Been with 3 for over 4 years now but my network coverage seems to be getting worse like today missed 3 calls due to no network coverage and then when my network comes back on it doesn't mention anything about missed calls also my data seems to drop quite a bit recently as well.

Tempted to try another network and see what offers are out there. Happy with my note 4 as does everything I need but tempted to go over to apple for my next phone for a change if I see any deals

You going to try talking to 3 about these two retention deals before you change to another network? If you do, pls give us an update, thanks

Great deal. The latest deal I took was 12m £12 for 200mins, unlmtd texts and 12gb FAH data

sorry OP, these (especially the unlimited data plan) seem far too heavily discounted to be true.

if you have managed to bag either of these I commend you. however i truly believe no one else will get these.

My contract with 3 run out in march I rang them for a retention deal and although I have 2 contracts with them and have been with them 11 years they wouldn't offer me anything that wasn't on there website. It took me a week to get pac codes and by then the deals I was going to go with had expired so I'm still looking.

I'll phone them Thursday when my 30 days notice is due and see what sort of retention deals are offered. Not expecting anything great as when I got the note 4 they wanted £100 for the handset but if a new customer you got the handset free so I comppained to head office via the ceo email website and they offered me the phone for free on upgrade as a goodwill gesture.
Only thing that keeps me with 3 is the unlined data and feel at home which costs me £36 a month and gives unlimited calls and texts as well

I'll update the thread on Thursday as to what deals they offer me if any

Exactly the same here! I'd been on the all-you-can-eat data tariff for years. Been a 3 customer for 13 years...

Good deal if you can get it - I've cancelled two of my family's Three contracts because the only deals they would offer me were the ones on the website.
Only one contract left, currently on unlimited minutes at £15/month so I very much doubt they'll offer me this deal. We'll see.

When talking to them, reference the following deal, and they will try to "find out what they can do for you". They will then offer you a deal which is not as good. Then reassure them how pleased you are with their network, and how shameful would it be to leave them. Don't tell them it's expired. They only just got aware of this deal, as when I spoke to them 2 weeks ago, they were rolling their eyes up out of surprise.

Reference this deal: hotukdeals.com/dea…068

I had been with them for 7 years and cancelled on my second call.
Had 4GB, unl mins and texts at £12 (Advanced plan). - I used to be on their £12.90 unlimited data plan which they phased out and was forcibly downgraded to 4GB to 'save money' last year. Few months after they gave me this 'special 4GB deal' it was available to new customers at the same price.... ridiculous! proves their new plans caused them to lose a lot of customers at the time.
They couldn't offer me anything which wasn't already on for new customers on their site this time either and kept on trying to get me on the £15 12GB plan which I had already told them i'm trying to 'save' money, not spend more - this one way conversation lasted 15 minutes. Plus topcashback had this plan with £60 cashback so I wouldn't have taken it out directly from them anyway...
Topcashback also had a £55 cashback deal on the following
8GB, 600mins + unl texts at £12 (Advanced plan) working out at £7.42 after cashback. they said they couldn't beat it and so I continued with my cancellation and I took out the 8GB deal from topcashback. The cashback has registered ok so far, but takes 14 weeks to come through. Even if it doesn't come through, i'll still be getting double data at the same price I was paying!

you should have pushed harder they threw in a free pair of edible undies when i demanded this deal. I know you want proof, uploading pics now.

Original Poster

They told me on my first and second call they wouldn't be able to beat it, and best they offered was 12GB Essential plan for £14 - something which is worse than my current plan - I have 8GB unlim 30 days for £16. They also kept telling me that my current plan was already discounted and other customers are paying £26. That's a bluff. They may have counted in £5 for paying non through direct Debit.

100% fake

Doesn't sound likely. When I got kicked on the unlimited everything for £15 p/m rolling, the best I could manage after a lot of haggling was £20 p/m on a 12month contract, 200mins, unlimited texts and data. Though I couldn't call their bluff too much as I was never gonna leave - feel at home was too valuable to me

proof?

Just had a phone call they were offering similar for £9 a month, this was a call from them out of the blue

Call them back in a few days and try playing the "I'm leaving you" role once again. You are close, and they offered first - so you may well get the same as I got.

Gonna post the bills once I'm back after the Easter break - on my way to Netherlands right now

No great offers worth writing about when I phoned today so I've taken my PAC code and going off to EE as I get 20% discount on contracts through work too.

Three told me I'm a good customer etc and being with them 6 years but they couldn't keep hold of me as a customer plus the network coverage has been a bit hit and miss lately and phone losing signal so time to move on and see how EE handle things

I will agree on your points about the coverage being hit and miss, especially inside buildings lately been quite bad. And the Feel at Home roaming sucks in most countries I've visited (6/7) had been extremely slow connections(including social messengers)

But for those looking to save a bit of cash and ready to sacrifice the good connection quality - should be a good deal.

I personally continuing their contract on monthly basis until I find a good deal with another carrier like Vodafone.

I've checked out EE but their customer service sucked. And apparently it didn't work in roaming for some of my friends. Yet it's so much better in France Belgium and Netherlands than 3 - that's the only countries I've been able to test when travelling, prior to cancelling the EE contract due to customer service.

The network coverage on 3 has seemed to get worse recently and no idea why as sometimes id be on my phone and the signal would just drop or on the Internet and it would lose connection for minutes at a time in the same area. I've also had lost signal a few times with 3 by where I've been in the house and I've lost network coverage and missed calls because of it and been told people have left me voicemail but when the network coverage has come back there is nothing listed in missed calls and no voicemail in my account. Not sure why this has been happening as my coverage in the house is normally good.

Potentially would have carried on my service with 3 if they would have bettered the deal slightly as they wouldn't give me feel at home in the deal unless I paid £9 extra a month for it taking the contract to £50 which I wasn't prepared to pay.

Checked with a couple of friends who live in my area who are on EE to see what they think of the coverge and they said they've never had any issues plus ee are continuing with more 4G coverage ongoing which is good. They did say customer service is hit and miss though but hopefully if my network coverage is good I'm hoping I don't need to speak to customer service.

EE also gave me their equivalent of feel at home so least I have the option to use my phone abroad if the need arises and it won't cost any additional money and also went though quidco for the contract which has tracked at £93 and will also sell my current handset as well so least this will of set against my monthly cost.

Only thing I wasn't impressed with EE on the phone going though terms & conditions they mentioned of calling premium numbers they charge 50p connection fee which I don't think was the case with 3 but very rarely phone a premium rate line as I try and find a local rate or freephone number

I'm just hoping I get better coverage with being on ee

I get unlimited everything for £20 P.m.
