Oh man thought it was only for students

You students get too many benefits. It's our time now.
Sorry OP don't want to spoil your deal, but I think if you go through cashback sites (Quidco/Topcashback),which offer £102/£100 cashback on the £18 a month unlimited plan ,it'll be cheaper. I know cashback is not guaranteed, but for the £78/£76 saving it's worth a gamble.

You can pay £18 a month, but get £100 cashback at topcashback
Each to their own but 3 are useless when I’ve been on their network. Do your research

Don't think they'll do anything if you're still in contract but I stand to be corrected

I'm in the same boat but to be honest, I think I've had enough... their coverage sucks! I'm traveling all over the country now with work and I'm spending my nights in hotels and I need usable data for my laptop, Netflix etc. A lot of the time I'm having to pay for hotel wifi because the connection with Three isn't usable. 2G most of the time, at best.

I'm in contract till August. Be interested to see how you get on if you do call?

Heat OP, for the deal. I just can't recommend the network.

TCB didn't track of my three order 5 months ago, lodged manual claim. Still waiting three to deside for cashback. Doesn't look like three will honor.
May ring them tomorrow.
Thanks OP.
three throttle speeds, even though they say they don't

you paying for crap unlimited speeds,

stay away!
I was on three for a bit and the max speed I got was like 2mbit, going outside and standing in the road it was 3mbit. Supposed 4G.

On EE now and speedtest is 14mbit down / 7mbit up indoors
My minimum term ended 2 days ago whatever that means but I think I still got 2 months before my contracts up. I'm currently paying £20 a month. Don't know if I should grab this deal now or try and negotiate with livechat tomorrow. Websites says I got 30 minutes to decide but I'm sure that's bs

If your minimum term has ended, you are out of contract. Go on Web chat and tell them you feel you are paying too much and think that you deserve a better deal. This is what I did and got this deal for £13 pm on a rolling contract. Others have got it cheaper as well.

JonAdams29/01/2020 08:25

Do they do calls abroad

Roaming & International

You can now use your SMARTY plan abroad. In the EU it works like normal. Outside the EU, or to call internationally, you need to top up your cash balance. See the prices where you’re going.

I currently pay £20.50 a month with three for the same deal, I have never used topcashback is it reliable with paying out and would you get money back each month or at the end of the contract?
Don't be fooled into this. Was offered similar deal a year ago for £20 a month... price kept creaping up till it eventually got to £26 a month. Three can go and screw itself. And to make It worse when my contract ran out they didn't cancel it... instead they still charged me for January (meant to end in december)

There is great in small towns and rural areas, not so great in Major cities, painfully slow speeds.

not bad, this is what I pay with the friends & family discount (family member is a three employee) the only difference is the friends & family one is 30 days but the price is the same.

Smarty is a subsidiary company of Three, so basically the same system with lower prices, and shorter contracts, except I don't think Smarty have a call center, so problems have to be sorted by chat, or email. I have just switched from Three to Smarty,

Hopefully, it might be the start of Three ditching the Three branding and switching to Smarty. Three or 3 was always a stupid name, causing a lot of confusion when searching, or discussing mobile telecoms.

Tried this last month after my 12 month contract came to an end (currently paying £20.50 for this deal).

Went on web chat and asked for my PAC saying I was paying too much and wanted to leave for a cheaper contract, but ideally wanted to keep my unlimited data. I even quoted other cheaper deals online with unlimited data to see if they could price match but no jot. Spent over an hour on chat to the advisor but they said the best the cheapest they can offer unlimited data for is £18.

Might try again and just ask them if they can switch me over to this. Was hoping to get it for £10-£15 as others have but can live with £16

Three came from 3G as they were the first to offer an all 3G service. Perhaps they will become Five?

I didnt mention leaving or other networks. I just said I believed I deserved a better deal. That said, £16 is a decent deal.

That would remove the Free/Three/3 confusion, but would still mean having the confusion of a number for a name.

As Alan Carr once said, you could drive into a phone mast and still not get a signal on Three

Three are pretty good tbh. I've managed to get my contract price down considerably over the years by phoning up. One of the things they do is reduce the number of free minutes down to 200-300 (which for me is perfect as I never use my phone for calls) and saved quite a few quid a month. The annoying this is that these "tarrifs" are only available once you phone, i.e. you'll not get a cheaper tarrif with less minutes on their website.
