Nice little SIMO offer over at Mobile Phones Direct. Unlimited Minutes, Unlimited Texts, 30GB 4G Data for £20PM with £108 cashback!

Lets do the math (after cashback);

20*12 = £240 - £108 (cb) = £132 / 12 = £11 per month!

Cashback does require manual redemption by posting bills at incremental points, however this isn't too difficult and provided you remind yourself you should be all good

The sim also includes:

Three Feel at Home

On holiday we reckon you should be able to top up your tan and your Instagram. That's why we're helping you to Go Roam around the world without splashing any extra cash in places like the USA and Australia. Manual redemption by posting bills at incremental points.
I think this is wrong.
I have a cashback deal from them and just go into my account on their site and select claim cahback
fill in the online form and upload a copy of bill to it.

Confirmation from them in 2 hours and paid in 11 days.

Because they want people to forget so that they don't have to pay out. If the process is anything like mobiles.co.uk I wouldn't say it's jumping through hoops. Max 5 mins of your time every few months

Who do I claim cash back? Do I go via Quidco or via 3 website?

I believe this would be cash back from mobile phones direct.
Can you tether this to your TV and 'Go Binge' on Netflix?

You've gotta be careful with 3 (might well be the same with other networks?). I've got an unlimited data contract but it doesn't allow tethering to other devices unless you pay extra per gb.

Can't see it in the description on the site, but this deal most likely has a 30GB "personal hotspot" included, which would mean you could do that.

I think so, Tethering is included in the Advanced plans and I think this is, but check carefully before purchase...

Advanced plans come with tethering at no extra cost, which is capped at 30GB per month on unlimited data plans.

As this deal is for an Advanced plan, tethering should be included.

Not a chance. Set up a reminder to cancel 30 days before the end of the twelve months and hunt down a new contract.

The physical or t&c tethering restriction is straightforward to bypass by either using a device that 3 has no record of IEMI or by using the FoxFi app plus key on most Android handsets, in which case all of the cyclic data allowance can be tethered at no additional charge.

The merchant is using the commission it receives from the network to incentivise the sale.
I went with this deal instead

Obviously cashback not guaranteed but less mess faffing around than the PDF route works out to about £1 a month more though and only 600 minutes.

Site tells - "Cashback on months 4,6,8,10,12"

Essentially the way cashback companies like Quidco/TCB work is by working with the seller (3 in this case) to get people using their products.

3 will have said we have XYZ amount of money for advertising and instead of spending it on advertising they will 'give' it to a cashback company. The cashback company takes a cut and advertises a product of 3's with a good cashback incentive.

3 can potentially get more business via a cashback scheme than by just advertising their contract.

Coop did it with TCB or Quidco with the Current Account scheme (£25/£50 extra I believe) and actually got way more customers through that than just advertising alone. It was cheaper too.
I'll say it if Three were to offer £11 month for 30gb, it won't need advertising or third parties.

Worked for me with Vodafone. Cancelled in month 11 30 days prior to the end of my contract. So my contract ended in the very last day of the 12 month term. Payment was taken for the 12 month invoice. And cash back paid in full. Just saves running the contract for 13 months
I'm already with Three. How will it work for me if I take this offer. Do I get a new SIM, new number and then switch?

I couldn't move my contract number (Vodafone to Vodafone) but could move to PAYG and port my number to the new contract ( but takes 30 days to switch from contract to PAYG). Ended up porting in and out of EE took 24hrs and back to Vodafone. I'd imagine the same with 3 so depends if your on a contract or PAYG.

That's true, but these deals rely on people forgetting/not bothering to claim the cash back, therefore the contract is paid at full price

Same here just finished a 12 month Vodafone sim only with cashback. Because you paying in advance you will receive you 12th month bill about a month before the full year is up. Just get you pac before your contract expires put in your cash back claim then once it's accepted look around for a new deal.

That is a lot of data, and after cashback it is a good price, too.
One of the deal that looks good in an advert but is only really a good deal for the very few who can be bothered to go through the hassle of looking at the deal and completing and sending the relevant information. Just offer a good deal and stop confusing people.

Eurgh, I didn't want to hear that... currently a 3 contract customer and would have jumped at this offer, since it's the Advanced sim. Too much faff for me!

Great deal for new customers still
