Three SIMO retention deal - AYCE data/mins/texts & 30GB UK tethering & 13GB EU tethering £25/month 12 months £300

In case anyone's interested, I rang up Three to request a PAC code so I can transfer over to the Vodafone offer on mobiles.co.uk (£14/month after cashback for 30GB data), and Three offered this deal:

UK Phone Data: Unlimited
UK Tethering:Yes
UK Tethering Limit: 30GB

Feel-at-home Phone Data: Unlimited
Feel-at-home Tethering: Yes
Feel-at-home Tethering Limit: 13GB

Texts: Unlimited
Minutes: Unlimited
Normally: £34 for 12 months (£408 total)
Retention price: £25 (£300 total)

The reason I mention the feel-at-home tethering limit is because normally they don't allow tethering without buying a Data passport, and that the data use on your phone in feel-at-home countries is restricted to 13GB fair use policy only.

Good luck!

FYI - My main reason for moving to Vodafone is because I can use all of the 30GB or 40GB of data plan in any of the roaming countries, on my phone or by tethering.

I'm paying £19/month
Marshmallow or earlier unlocked non-3 handset with foxfi app + foxfi key to tether as much on-handset AYCE data as you want, home & feel at home.
Offered me this fr 15... was already paying 19 fr it
Ice cold
im paying £11 for this deal

im paying £11 for this deal

You sure about that?
I get:
300 mins
Unlimited data
300 3 to 3 minutes
2000 text £11.00 per month.
So £11/month more than the Vodafone deal which also includes an entertainment pack. Not really a good deal unless Vodafone signal is bad in where you use you phone or you can't spend 5 mins every 2-3 months claiming cashback

Will you prove it please?
I’m paying £5 for this but with 600 minutes instead of unlimited minutes
£8 for unlimited everything with 8gb hotspot.
600 min with unlimited everything and 30GB hotspot for £12 here.

by the way, @andylol anyone can tether abroad if they are on an Advanced plan...

  • You can’t use your phone as a personal hotspot (tethering) while you’re abroad if you’re on an Essential Plan.

Or just using a grey import Chinese phone

"Up to Marshmallow" mentioned because the cloaked tether attribute of Foxfi doesn't seem to like Nougart onwards. Not clear if Nougart-onwards generic grey imports replicate similar cloaked tether attribute via native Android hotspot.

At the moment I'm on AYCE data, 200 minutes and unlimited texts paying £23 a month from 24/30 months ago. I've rang three a couple of times but not got any reduction. I'm using a Sony M2 non three phone.

I tether alot but my three online account shows no deduction in data ( always says 30 GB left).

I don't take any measure to disguise my data use and when I've phoned three they seem to be aware of my actual data usage?

It would be nice to get a reduction in price but not to the detriment of losing my AYCE data. Would anyone suggest any solutions to this?

Also, I've bought a New Chinese phone. Would using my three SIM in this phone give me any problems? Is there a solution to this? Should I consider foxify for this phone?

For your specific circumstances: just throw your sim in the new phone, tether some data (say at least 500MB), then a reasonable time later (say 1hr+) check any tether usage record on your 3 account, then draw your own conclusion.

OK I'll give it a go. When I've spoke to them in the past they've said I'm on an old contract that doesn't exist anymore. They did offer me 100 GB data, unlimited texts and minutes for£23. I didn't take it because I didn't want to leave the deal I'm on as in the past I've used more than 100gb tethering and I didn't want to lose that possibility?

You will. They don’t offer plans more than 30gb tethering. What is your plan?

I used the complaints chat.
Mentioned that I am tempted to switch to EE's current deal atm 20GB for £11.66 (includes £100 amazon voucher) and researched that EE provided 99% 4G coverage vs 91% Threes and on average EE's 4G is faster... the best thy offered was 30G unlimited for £15 lol.
I guess I will call up tomorrow to get my PAC and switch to EE.

I took the plan out over 2 and a half years ago. When I have spoke to them they say the plan is not available anymore? It still seems to be available on PAYG for £35 a month? It's AYCE data?

Agreed, I spoke to them for about 20 minutes. Didn't push on them, just explained that I needed to save money but also fancied a bit more data and went from £14 a month, 12gb advanced plan, to £11 a month for unlimited data, unlimited texts, 200 minutes (I use about 100 a month MAX), 30gb tethering, advanced plan.

What plan is it though? How much? What allowances?

So I called up yesterday at lunchtime and spoke to their usual oversea agent. The first team best offer was 30GB for £15 then went onto the second team and he couldn't beat that so got my pac code.
Today is my day off so I decided to use the chat option again as I prefer to stay with Three due to go binge and more overseas destinations). I did try calling but got hanged up so explained to the complaints agent that I spoke to them yesterday but found the guy rude and hard to understand. He apologises etc. I then asked for a similar/better deal than EE's current deal. I posted their actual website and told him to add the 20GB £20 deal and then add the £100 amazon code AWGPWBJ99. He got the business team to verify. (Don't paste the HUKD link as they will say the £100 voucher is given by a third party which I was arguing about with the guy I spoke to yesterday).
He then offered 30Gb, unlimited call and text for £12 1 monthly rolling contract. So I just went with it.
I guess I can chat next month to reduce the number of minutes to 200/600 and cut £3 off later right?
So even if you have already been sent your pac code you still can get good offers via complaints chat and make sure they speak to the business team to give you the good offers.
