Why is this no use to the elderly? Are you assuming that they all have no technology?

I signed up, and soon after the freebies went to Vodafone. I left days ago, because my £9/month was going up to £20, and now I miss out of 3 months of Telegraph subscription which I wouldn't have minded.
how do you get these offers
Three’s ‘previous’ offer scheme (I’ve forgotten the name of the app) was good at the start then soon became a waste of time. To me there’s nothing here that’s tempting from the start. Now my sim only deal increases each year by RPI I’ve no real reason to stop with Three.
Companies don’t look after their customer base anymore. All they want is new customers.

Thanks OP Good to see Three giving us some good offers at last Need it right now. Tory bias yes, but plenty of detailed reading on it.

Agree with you.I think it was a narrow minded comment, and there probably just wasnt anything free or cheap for them to benefit from.

The telegraph are doing 3 months digital free anyway. Have been for a few weeks, I think.
Three are the tightest network around, nearly all the other networks are giving extra data, bonuses for NHS workers etc but trust three to give free 3 months subscription to telegraph, something done by less than 0.00001% of the population

They must think we are stupid or something, by the way I am with three

you probably have a spend cap of £0 setup and are trying to ring an out of allowance number
I've been with Three for many years now, but the price increases are getting out of hand. Every time I upgrade, I go for a cheaper tariff and by the end of the contract, it's always crept up to more than I was paying in the first place, despite having less included. I'll be going simo, 1 month. No more being tied in to get screwed over during the life of the contract.

Don't even get me started on their broadband router, that has been the biggest waste of money I've ever had.
Can't seem to sign up to that Telegraph offer without forking over money up front. "Free for 3 months then full price at £8.67 per month. You can cancel anytime." but you get taken to Paypal and it says pay £8.67 now. Nah. BA BYE!
i believe the telegraph 3 months free subscription is only for online articles its not for the digital newspaper

ive been on sim only with Three for many many years. they never will offer you your current package for cheaper unless you push for the PUK Number to leave. the department that gives your PUK number are better at offering deals, although even then they will will try charge you more for less.
when upgrading, always search online for better deals being offered to new customers, they will match it for you and then say "Thank you for highlighting this deal to us and saving us time".
i signed up to a 4GB unltd C&T for £8, which increased to £10 on upgrade but managed to haggle and drop to £8.20. next upgrade price went up to £12 but managed to get them to drop to £8.50. most recent upgrate was £12 dropped to £9 and wouldnt budhe. while on the phone i done a uSwitch search and found 8GB unltd C&T for £8 which they honoured.

its an annual p++stake but worth it in the end.

But every company is raising prices in accordance with RPI. It's only when they raise them too much should we be complaining.

Am sure if they didnt do so they wouldn't be able to give their normal employees a wage rise, which we all expect from our employers?
My price wasn't supposed to go up last year, because I was on a sim only contract.

Complained and never heard back, the price increase was minor but just annoyed me more on principal.

Prices always increase with RPI even on sim only.
They promise to never increase your contract mid way except to keep in line with annual RPI
Voted hot but can't benefit from the offers. I miss the good o' days with wuntu.

I do find 3 network service is no where as reliable as it once used to be and I used to pay £17pm sim only and now it's £21.06pm!

Though I do like that I can use data and call UK numbers with my free minutes in numerous countries now called "Go Roam" but I knew it as "Feel at home".

I don't know wether you noticed like other networks they offer far more deals which benefits alot of elderly in terms of free calls and more data and so on to stay in touch with their loved ones!!
thebdaman03/04/2020 11:23

LOL,nope.During these challenging times I think they could have offered more to the elderly as in maybe more call allowances and maybe more data on top of there allowance.so they can stay in touch with their loved ones.

If you value your sanity, don't bother.

The connection is so ridiculously unstable, it's laughable. Throttling during peak times bring speeds down to a crawl. The location of the router can give you 'excellent' signal strength one day (according to the associated app), then poor the next, meaning you need to move it for a stronger reception. I get a very unstable 3MB down, though uploads are better at around 10MB. Streaming anything in 4K is near impossible. HD buffers several times during an hour long show. Downloading a PS4 or Xbox game takes on average 48 hours.

If all of that weren't enough, the customer care is based in India and scripted, so utterly unhelpful and impossible to deal with. I'm stuck paying £25 a month for nearly another year for a product that barely works. Three simply don't care, they will make no attempt to fix it, nor offer a reduced charge for such a poor reception. They'll be losing both of our phone contracts and our broadband thanks to the abysmal service.

Thanks for your helpful reply. I'm with Three on a SIM only deal, and had hoped the awful current 'speeds' might be fixed by using a router.
I bought a tablet six weeks ago, planning to use it online via my phone's hotspot, as I had done last year with my old tablet. No chance, average speeds 1.71K/s to zero.
I don't know what has happened to their service, I've been with them for three years, speeds quite good, but last few months have been virtually unusable. My contract is nearly up, so time to look for a new provider.
Also, have so far found it impossible to contact customer support since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, notice on Three's site states Indian Govt. regs limits hours offices can stay open.

I sympathise with your situation. Since you are able to get through to cs, you should insist on speaking with the next level of support. Three must surely cancel your broadband router contract. Good luck.

I was with Three for 8 years, only changed last summer as their idea of a "deal" was to increase my bill by £2 a month, or go from unlimited calls and texts and 8 gig of data for £8 a month to 200 minutes , 1 gig of data for £7 a month telling me I didn't use the data or minutes. Its because I have unlimited landline minutes and fast internet but the few times I do need it I can use a lot i.e if I go on holiday and theres no free wifi or the free wifi signal is terrible, or just slow it makes dial up seem fast or I am on bus/train for long period with no wifi.

I remember telling them it was cheaper for me to get a new sim, cashback and port my number out and back in and they just told me (though polite) thats the best way to deal with it

I suppose the worst thing was each year it took about 8-12 calls to get anywhere with cancellations/retentions even last year when I asked to cancel as I got a good sim free/cashback offer with another network they kept trying to sell me new phones and sims and I kept saying no I want to port out and they kept telling me "No wait, I can get you a good deal" rather than put me through and never backing down, a few of them were quite irate with me saying "we are only trying to get you a good deal"

Oh and that reminds me, I never got back my final bill, I was actually like 1 day into the payment month so due like 29 days back from them. I should ring.

Lol Yeh I totally forgot about the dozen phone calls you need to make in order to actually leave! They do love a hard sell.
This year I was lucky with the one call as I kept interrupting the guy until he put me through to where I needed to go.
