In 12 years time 30 gb data might seem a tad too low.

It’s a 12 month contract...after that you should be looking to change anyway to take advantage of new prices/cashback!

But does three actually pay out the cash back. So many times on here you hear comments of them not honouring the cash back.

That’s why I Virgin 4G Unlimited @ a bargain £20, even with yearly cost rises my - long term outlook, replace broadband and a mobile contract and time spent constantly researching and shopping for the best deals. £20 done and small increases for the next 5 years at least until the market changes. When 5G is live and real U.K. Fibre is built (Vodafone/CityFibre leading so far) then I may be in a cost/service position to change from Virgin, but till then I’m happy

Using a mobile network for a broadband replacement isn't sustainable and shouldn't be done.

Unfortunately people have a use it because I can attitude this is why networks don't like offering unlimited packages consistently.

I don’t stream like most others, I have Virgin TiVo for catch up tv. I can download large Netflix files via my free Virgin Wifi access and cast to my TV if I start my Netflix sub again, Don’t even use my Prime video access.

I’ve used just over 50GB of data this month and billing date next week, I use (between several addresses) not abuse, if only most people were as trustworthy with Unlimited mobile data, they ain’t so it’s not available for general sale, not even 3G...yet.

The bargains yup I do! Not at the moment I got a massive gut infection again in early Nov and I’m slowly getting back to normal... it effects everything physically including cognitive function, anyway...if you actually saw your average home internet usage you would be surprised how much you use and how little I use 50-60GB for all internet use combined on my phone, Unlimited HOME Broadband users really don’t know how much they actually use, mine - it is not much in comparison. I do have Go Binge on a cheap £8 Three MiFi deal which I rarely used the last few months but use even Netflix 4K once a month chews through the GBs.
A phone browser uses way less than a full tablet/desktop browser, so I iphone surf the net, a lot of my daily usage is actually HUKD

Spectrum is finite at it's current form and isn't considered as infinite this is what makes it unsustainable.

There's a huge reason why Three UK abolished The One Plan their network was getting congested and couldn't handle it.

UNLIMITED 4G data. Use not abuse - (Virgin non existent) Fair Use Policy, Data Traffic Management or UNLIMITED Terms & Conditions may be changed at any time per customer or plan customer base. I’m doing me the favour with a knock effect to other users and other UNLIMITED other users have proven to be speed capped at 1MBPS at 400GB of data of a 2TB account allocation (yes theproduct description would get past the as dodgy as Ofcom ‘Advertising Standards Agency’)

Spectrum is the limiting factor there's a reason why mobile networks pay millions in spectrum auctions.

ofcom.org.uk/abo…ion

EE - 2 x 5Mhz of 800 Mhz and 2 x 35Mhz of 2.6Ghz for a wopping £588,876,000.
Three UK - 2 x 5 MHz of 800 MHz £225,000,000 (This is a main reason why Three UK is a lot slower than EE)

its not possible to abuse a service that was marketed as all you can eat data/truly unlimited.

networks will quite happily let you pay for this limited spectrum when its over and above your data allowance. So the only real limit is the depth of your pockets.

They allow you because they know only small amounts of people actually consume more than the average user...

But they will stop your service if you consume too much and they will kick and terminate your contract.

Tethering usually consumes very high amounts of data and when you use 100GB or 500GB or even more you have to understand that madt is sharing a backhaul which will be connected to hundreds of phones and mifis so you'll have a contention ratio of let's say 1:200 educated guess.

Location dependent too, Three at home runs faster than EE, a mile away in town EE runs three times the speed of Three.

Yes but advance plans don't include AYCE Data for tethering the maximum you can get is 30GB tethering allowance.

three.co.uk/Thr…ide or Three.co.uk / Three_price_guide (Without the spaces)

three.co.uk/ter…pdf (Advanced Price Plan Guide terms's and conditions)

"Tethering your device and using it on the go (or at home) with Personal Hotspot – you can use all or any of your data allowance to create a personal hotspot within the UK, unless you choose a plan with All -you-can -eat data. In this case, you can use between 2 GB and 30 GB a month as a Personal Hotspot (how much depends on when your contract started – see page 26). On all new Advanced Plan contracts with All -you-can -eat data, you’ll now enjoy a 30 GB personal hotspot allowance"

Also ;

"If you have all-you-can-eat data, you'll have a separate Personal Hotspot allowance. If you don’t, you can use Personal Hotspot from your standard data allowance."

A example of this is shown on one of the advance plans below;

33295990-VQeXr.jpg

This is technically a legally binding contract as you accept the terms and conditions and even though data may still work whilst tethering after 30GB it's still not aloud and is against Three's terms and conditions and your service can be terminated without any notice which sucks for those who like their mobile number because if your service gets terminated due to causing congestion on a mobile network's internal network you ain't getting that mobile number back.
