Why not?

I had 2 contracts with them, now 1... Since last August the network went to shit in highly populated areas

Where I lived the speed was lightening fast, 100mbps, faster than my WiFi, but where I worked went to 0.2mbps in August.

I found speed issues in highly populated areas... Huddersfield, Leeds, Manchester & London... I even went to Torquay on holiday and it was awful.

A guy in Blackpool three store was honest when I called in and he admitted they had literally broken the network, and he said I can't even get data in their store anymore. He said the network would improve when 5g was installed in the area.. they were switching 3g masts to 4g and 4g masts to 5g... In the meantime it had knackered the network

I can't complain, three were aware of this and I ended up getting massive credits (up to £200) and my monthly contract halved while only 5 months into a contract. They were probably instructed to do anything to keep the customer happy without admitting there was an issue

I did a speedtest at my work and got these results... Same place, different times of day:

06:30 - 45mbps
10:00 - 0.29mbps

The issue want everywhere, but noticeable in many areas, people who say Three is good is probably lucky to be in a fast speed area and don't venture anywhere else

The reception was actually bang on, always high bars and regularly showing 4G+, but the bandwidth just wasn't there

I might return to three one day when it improves, never had an issue previous to last August

I switch to 3 about 5 months ago from EE. Just way way better! I'm paying £18 a month for 12 months and that unlimited data has been amazing!

£10/month after cashback paid, that's great!I might use this deal to ask 3 to reduce my current AYCE rolling @£18ish, might be going down to £15, by mentioning also Smarty 100gb. Thanks for the heads up.

I strongly suggest you don't try to use this as a lever. I was an existing 3 customer I tried to go with the deal I mentioned. 3 turned me down no questions asked. Took out the deal in my wife’s name no problem.
Always makes me laugh that they still market the go binge feature on unlimited data plans.

Worst company for trying to leave
Wish you could just pay the entire year in one go like you can with car insurance. Easier for me, and if I want anything on top, I can add it on.

You don't even have to talk to them so you can leave when you want as long as your contract as ended just text for a pac/stac code and you get it in 15mins....So No not worse to leave you can do it with all providers..

I can believe that. I found they were fine for occasional use but once when I tried to use them for my primary phone it was the worst decision ever, quickly got rid of that and went to Vodafone which has been night and day better - consistently good data, any time of the day and in most places, and VeryMe Rewards too.

Same here, on Vodafone now and it's great
Moved from Three to Vodafone and never looked back. It is a tad bit pricier but you get what you pay for, I had NO virtually speed when in Waterloo or around the Strand area at all.
I'm with Three on Unlmited Everything, my contract started a month ago, £18 p/m minus cashback so effectively £13 p/m, mobile internet speed is fantastic, always get 4G+ at home, 20-30 Mbps usually, later in the evening it goes up to 50-60 Mbps, tethering works very well, so cancelled Virgin broadband whih hI've had for a little over a year. Only one niggle but an annoying one. Can't get the adult content filter switched off, done it online, set it to off and it shows as off but it's still switched on. Three support is nearly non-existant, maybe because of Covid-19 or maybe they fired half of their India based service desk people and are blaming it on Covid-19, anyway, managed to get hold of someone on chat on three separate occasions, it took a lot of wait time, each time been told it's fixed, reboot phone and it should work fine now. Obviously did not work fine. I don't care much about adult websites, there is always VPN for the occasional browse, but Three's freaking adult content fileter is blockiing half the internet for me, my work email, lots of news and tech websites and even HotUKdeals, no kidding. I constantly have to switch between VPN and normal browsing. So freaking annoying!
Three have been saying their twitter that eSim support is coming soon for about 3+ years now to my knowledge (probably more) at this rate physical sims will disappear from new phone models and they will still take another 2 years to implement them

not an option for me when i want to also be able to put my work sim in my phone and use a smart watch
I've been using 3 for 10+ years now if it wasn't for the renewal deals i get i wouldn't stay. I'm on the unlimited calls/text and 30GB data at times when i need it, I can barely stream now tv that needs 2.5MBps

I went for this deal from Fonehouse. Purchased on Sunday, still waiting for SIM
I can’t wait to leave this network
Edited by: "Caribbeantaurus" 15th May
3 here, no probs run 4 devices including a MiFi, it all depends where you live and will travel too. Customer service has always been fine for me, yes it out of UK call centres but been friendly enough.

For leaving networks you only need to send text these days.

Saying that I’m looking to move away as there are better deals on other networks at the moment.
not a bad deal, but don't expect to get any 5G off them until 2021
I stay with them as I get to use my data in the US (and Europe, Hong Kong etc.). No other provider seems to be provide all of this without paying something like £5 per 1MB (which a short period on this site could use up very quickly).
They're very dodgy in Manchester and so-so back home on the East Coast.

Do find most of Scotland outside say Glasgow / Edinburgh is iffy. Where some of my family live in Moray, it really doesn't matter which provider you have as most are practically non-existent (better closer to the town of Elgin. Think O2 are the best of a bad bunch up there?)
Haha not another three deal that's gonna go hot no signal no data and bad customer service run by live chat bots voted cold

I took out the Fonehouse deal at £18.00 per month, the SIM took about 5 days to arrive and Three have billed me from the day I applied, so I have been charged for the 5 days before I got the SIM, I still have to sort that out with Three. The actual cost of the contract is not £18 per month, it is £32 per month, with a £14 per month recurring discount, bringing down the cost to £18.00, which doesn't seem a problem unless anyone wanted to end the contract early, then the remaining balance for settling would probably be charged at £32 per month. If the cashback comes through from Fonehouse, it will be costing me £10 per month, which I will be very happy with as I get a good signal where I am, but all the cashback claim dates are in the diary, as is a reminder to cancel or renegotiate the contract a month before it expires, so I don't incur the £32 per month for any existing usage. It is impossible at the moment to contact Three without going through Chat, I have tried it and the options just sent me around in circles, not good, but the SIM is in the router in the loft and it needs to be put in a phone to use Chat. I need to contact Three to turn off the Voicemail service as it is intercepting all incoming calls, (not important to me), and the only way to do that appears to be through Chat, so another reason to get back up in the loft to retrieve the sim.

I too got the SIM today and I see same charges for last 5 days from Three. And exactly same details as you mentioned. I had given PAC while placing order, I somehow managed to contact Three today on phone and they told me Fonehouse has given them PAC today only so will have to wait till Monday for porting to be completed. Three signal at my home is excellent, I use a 5G phone and the signal in my phone always shows 4G+.

Why not just keep the VPN on ?

Just checked and getting 26Mbps download, and 22Mbps upload, but this varies, also it will be dependent on location etc.
TBC1516/05/2020 19:46

Why not just keep the VPN on ?

I have got several gmail accounts, and if I check my emails when connected through VPN, the gmail servers have a panic attack sending warning messages telling me I have to log in through their website before I can read or and download my emails, so I then have to enter all my email addresses and passwords before I can continue.

I want adult content on and it won't let me even with card number etc. They are really bad as I did it with one touch of a button on Voxi.
