This isn't a retention deal as you're asking for an upgrade, not requesting to leave. This can be done at any time, even on the first day of your contract via Three's call centre.

I was on a basic plan of £9 a month for 4GB Data, Unlimited Texts & Minutes, I had the £50 cashback off Quidco as well. Figured I needed more data so went on a call with them. I was only 3 months into my 12-month contract and they said they could offer an UPGRADE as I was on the basic/essential plan and couldn't 'change' my existing contract but only 'upgrade' as it's a year long.

They bumped me up to the advanced plan, reduced my minutes to 600 and increased my data by triple to 12GB. They also said they would be raising the price from £9pm to £11pm, I simply asked if he could do £9 instead of £11 as he was already reducing my minutes and he accepted. Boom. Much better contract for the same price.

+ Better plan + More data - Less minutes.

Essentially, I'm paying £4.85 a month for the first year for: 12GB data, Unlimited Texts, 600 mins which I feel will be better for most people these days over the original.

Far as I know no as it's considered changing a contract. You could if you were at the end of a 12 month contract or are currently on a basic/essential plan.

Going to try this now, don't think I'll get far.

Chat is already saying I need to call to get 'upgrades'
they will not offer me anything on the chat.
everyone i speak to on chat says you need to call up.

Shoot, my mistake. I did this a couple of months back and forgot - they don't offer anything over live chat. I've got 2 different times mixed up.

I'veedited the post, you'll need to call them to have it done. Sorry about this *facepalm*.

This isn’t good if you make use of the “feel at home” add on.

i got shot of my unlimited plan which was sim only, 20 quid a month for 200 minutes and all you can eat texts, for 10 quid extra a month i now get 12gb of data, all you can eat texts and minutes and a razer phone.

also go binge, i've been told twice over the phone it SD (standard def) only for Netflix!
i've also been told that their basic "Essential" plan can be used in the EU and you don't need the advanced plan, might be wrong on this as it doesn't make sense, also i think that's calls and text only.

Yes you can roam around EU using your inclusive allowance on either plan as the EU rules changed as part of being in the single market.
Out of interest did they extend your contract as a result of this change?
Another waste of time for me, as they asked for £85 upgrade fee. Typical Three
Last week through chat, I got 12gb/unlimited text/200 mins for 7 quid.
Unlimited mins, text, and data (30gb hotspot data) £10 per month
Phoned just there, I have just over a month remaining pay £15 for 8gb

They would only offer 12gb for £14 but I'd have to buy out my contract for £8.28. quoted this deal on hukd as "a colleague just upgraded to"

Not doing it, if there's a bigger slice of the pie on offer I'll keep trying
I have done three contracts with ThreeUK and not one has paid out on the cashback claim so just bear it in mind if that's your dealbreaker.

Quidco paid out £60 for my last 2 contracts (£120 in total) 12 months ago. But these 2 contracts are now up for renewal (30GB, 600 mins//2500 3-to-3 min, Advaced @ £16) and they won't do anything for me for retention other than upgrade me to a £20 pm contract for each with 300Gb/UnL mins and put me back on a 12 month contract. So I ended up taking the PAC codes. Looking for alternatives now.
I'd actually take this deal posted above if I could find it......

Do you only have this one single contract with 3 or do you have others with them?

I was on the limited plan but tracked through my bills and on average was using about 4gb per month....

No I was Advanced unlimited 4GB £10, changed to Advanced 600/12GB a few months in for £11 and April bill I will change to Advamced 600/30GB for £14 - no contract extension, June renegotiate.

Three became really inflexible with changing plans a few years back, they were even charging £25 to do so! It’s been relaxed again and staff genuinely seem to be able to tailor to needs, something most networks won’t really do anymore.

They don't offer on online chat. They tell you to call, just tried again, would not consider this package to me at all, 8GB and 200mins for £8 or 8GB and 600 mins for £10.

Just because they have not offered you an offer online does not mean they don't - there are enough reports on here to suggest it is hit and miss.

You asked for a price reduction? Which team did you speak/chat to? Five months into a twelve month contract and they drop your price from £9 to £5 is an excellent result. Any pointers would be appreciated please.

I have just got this deal, key is to request PAC code...gets you to a UK call representative instead who ask why you are wanting to leave.
