Great deal for a Thule box. Not the largest, but will hopefully help somebody out. Great reviews.

If you have a small car and want a roof box that takes up a minimum of space then the Thule Ocean 80 with a 320 litre loading capacity might be just the one for you

It's the lowest price it's ever been according to camelcamelcamel.

If you need one of these then you are taking too much stuff away with you !

If you don’t need one of these for a family holiday. The odds on you still live in your mother’s basement and don’t have a spouse or kids.
Of course when you already drive a van with a mattress in the back, this would be a silly purchase.

Great for long journeys with the mother in law
Never seen this before but thought it was a good idea .I Watched a delivery driver taking a Chinese or Indian takeaway out of one on his car during the week.
This is an excellent deal. We regularly use our Thule Ocean 80 roofbox for weekends away and UK holidays. It can fit in 3 hand luggage cases, or a child’s buggy and 1 or 2 large holdalls. I drive a Kia Optima Estate and use the Thule wingbars, and this sits nicely, so not just for small cars.

Am I correct in thinking the "80" refers to capacity in litres??

Jeez, I have a backpack that takes more!!!

I would be interested in knowing where there are getting their stock from; Thule seem to operate a cartel in Europe, so they are usually WILDLY over priced, compaired to outside the EU.

How about when you have two kids and are going camping with a tent, camping stoves and all the other stuff you need....would need a pretty big car to fit everything in !?

Good deal for the extra space!
Any idea if this would fit a 2012 BMW 1 Series 5 door with Evo Wingbar. Is there a checker somewhere
Good deal it seems. A fair bit cheaper than anywhere else. I need something this size but longer and narrower. Won't work for me.

The dog travels in the boot, the luggage goes on the roof. I fail to see the problem. Or did you not assume that people would use the boot of the car to carry anything other than luggage?

Thanks, I should have looked at the Amazon description a bit closer.

It is a lot of space for the money then, as others though, the rear hinge is an issue for me; however I am tempted; last time I looked at this size they wanted STUPID money.

ONE HANDY HINT

Dont forget you have it fitted.

Seen a few smashed up roof boxes lying in the road, directly in front of a carpark height restriction barrier.

I'm disappointed that you don't pack your car in the way a random person on the internet approves of ...
Too small
Is this a big box for a small car or a small box for a big car ?????

Yes but have you really though?!!
Roof boxes are great when going to the beach, you can put all the gear in there and don't have to worry about sand and water in the boot. Then when finished just rinse it out.

If you are referring to smashed roof boxes lying in the road, yes, twice. Once outside the entrance to a beach carpark in Normandy, and once locally.
The local one I actually saw happen; he got out of his Discovery and looked at the smashed roof box, then just drove off, leaving it lying in the middle of the road. I doubt it did his roof rails any good either.

Or his Mother-in-law!
How much do these effect mpg?
Temporarily out of stock.

That was the joke he was making, doh !

Yep... I got that.

On a serious note though don’t forget to factor in roof bars which can cost a few quid. Excellent price for this box though and heat added.

If you are cruising along an A road, not a lot; motorway speed limit and it starts to become noticeable, and blasting across France at 100mph it is really noticeable; from 5 to 20%. these things are aerodynamically shaped, so less of a drag than a simple roof cage like the one I tend to use, which hits me for a 20% drop even at motorway speeds

I can’t answer for this box but I’ve got the Halfords Exodus (made by Thule apparently) and it looks very similar to this one.
On a journey to the North West Highlands of Scotland I can honestly say I did not notice any increase in MPG . Journey was mostly motorway at 70mph (honest) and the onboard computer showed an average improvement in economy !?! Probably due to the lack of start stop etc.
I will un-expire. It's still available under the other sellers tab.
Trying to find this box on the Thule website, but can't find it. Guessing there is an equivalent version on their site. Does anyone know what that is please? Cheers
