Nice price

Anyone aware of something in the same price range that will fit even with the spare 4x4 wheel still mounted to the back door?

Something like this? 4x4 cycle carrier

AND if you spend £50+ at Halfords this weekend you get a £10 voucher

Thanks for this - my hubby has been saying lately we need one of these for our MPV and we could do with one that carries more than too.

Fab price, HOT!!

good find, we paid over £250 for a thule 4 bike carrier a few months back.

I need one to go on top of mini to hold 2 mountain bikes, hope I don't need to go direct to BMW, this would be great for me so I will have a look for a roof one.

Got one of these a few weeks ago at Skidrive for £64, really good rack. Would have got it from Towequipe but they put there price up just before I ordered it. I wouldn't go to halfords, for the money they charge you can get better kit on the net

The fitting instructions are quite amusing. Nice muscles.

Bikes on this will cover your lights and numberplate.
If you want to be road legal you will also need to get a lighting board and number plate to tie on the back.

true - i have one :-)

Good price - hot.

Not really a hot deal, just a few £ less than the usual price does not make it a bargain. Not very practical either the boot cannot be opened when it's fitted unlike a 9503 which has a built in lights and tilts to allow access to the boot.

Have had one of these for a while now. Good and sturdy. 60kg load limit.
Would recommend getting 4 locking caps.

Also, getting 4 bikes on it is never the same twice.

Re not being able to open boot, I have one of my Passat and can open the boot. Access isn't great though.

The 9503 is a 3 bike carrier. For folks needing 4 the 9705 is good.

Good Find. I wonder how well it would fir 4 adult (full size) MTBs?

Yeap it does but as scareyman's comments above it does take a while to work out how to put them on the best way.

Number plate & light board you can get for £30.

it tilts :-P
Can you post the next cheapest price you can find...... then if this goes out of stock others will be able to benefit too........... and we'll also be able judge whether we think this is a good deal or, as you say, not :-)

Many thanks, we've been looking for a thule 970, the code works for that one too. Happy days !!

Trying to fit four bikes on these is a nightmare if you have oversize tubing, rear suspension or a ladies frame. I bought one then had to buy false cross bars for the ladies bikes and it was still complicated. Now I have a tow bar rack in which the wheels slot in. Not voted either way.

I now have the best of both worlds. This 9705 and roof bars with 2 cycle carriers.
No more wrestling with 4 bikes on the back, and skint knuckles etc.

Does anyone have any experience of trying to fit the attachment bracket together with a stabilser bracket - e.g. Bulldog Q200?
I've looked at mine and I think the Thule brack may foul the Bulldog bracket.

Also, the blurb says you can use this whilst towing. Well, since this carrier can take 60KG and itself weighs 8 KG, then that is a load of 68KG on your towbar. The Typical tow bar is weight limit is 75KG (some cars do 90KG). So most of your allowance is taken up by the bike carrier. Then you want to add your caravan with a recommended nose weight typically of 75KG (again some are more) to ensure stability - and your towbar limit is exceed and you're towing illegally.
You may get away with a lightly loaded trailer, but I can't see how it can possibly suggest a caravan. Even if only loading 2 bikes and your towbar has a higher limit than 75KG, the figures still don't seem to add up. Adult MTB typically 10-15KG, x2 plus carrier weight = min 28KG, max 38KG. Add on caravan nose weight and your over 100KG!

interesting thought.... perhaps you can put it to Thule? Interesting to see what they say.
