£375 for a piece of blow moulded plastic, absolutely ridiculous. What people will pay for a name.
Can’t fit it in the boot so it has to go on the roof for our family holiday.
Wanted dual opening, a good locking system and quick clamping on to my factory aerobars. Plus I want to still open the boot fully on my Skoda Yeti and look half decent with minimal wind noise.
This ticks all the boxes but I’m with you, it’s still a lot of money for an engineered piece of plastic!

I think that’s why OP posted it as a deal at £300...
It’s a great roof box, got mine from Amazon, 5 months back for £203. I would have bought at this price if not.

Should’ve got mine out of season. Would have saved me a few quid! Best deal in the run up to the Summer Holiday getaway I could find. Looked at quite a few cheaper options but I concluded I’m going to be using this for the next 5-10 years so it needs to last. Thule offer a 2 year warranty which is reassuring too.

I think Amazon made a mistake on the prices when I bought it. The S cost more than the M. I don’t reckon it will be that cheap again. It’s a great box at £300.

Do you think you pay £300 for the plastic? What about engineering, designing process, production etc? If you look just at the materials used nothing is worth as much as the price tag says.
You're not a salesman are you?
Design and Engineering on something that's essentially a box with a hinged lid. Understandably there's limited aerodynamic and structural fixing tests. But come on it's not rocket science.
Great price. Not sure why it's getting knocked. I've got an Motion XT L which cost a fair bit more and well worth it to me.

These boxes are quick and easy to fit with a hand screw and clamp feet. Far better than old T bolts. Feels solid, lock is substantial and the drag is pretty decent too not affecting mpg that much.

Will last for years. When taking your family and the kitchen sink down to the South of France a couple of times a year, small price to pay for the extra luggage capacity, and peace of mind knowing these boxes have no chance of coming off. I've never liked the thought of 4 little screws holding thousands of pounds worth of goods at 130kph on the autoroutes. The quality of these makes it feel like an extension of the car.

Yes - it's like saying a £1,000 iPhone is only a bit of plastic, metal and glass.

I think the point is that as yet roof box has no miniaturised battery, semi-conductors/circuit boards and software. It's more or a less two large pieces of moulded plastic. So in terms of engineering its pretty simple.

£300 does not seem great value but if its the cheapest you can buy it for then it's still a goodish deal. I would recommend checking lesser known brands though.
Great box at a more reasonable price of £203 when bought.
The XT M is £375 now. expired ?
Could save the dog from chewing the seats?

(PS to animal lovers: only kidding)
