Full size bikes?

Yes full size adult bikes. These support bike weights of up to 17 kg.
I've got 3 of these.

Frankly for £20 each (I paid £15 cos they had one of their regular sales on) they are unbeatable. Used to transport 3 adult bikes to Scotland and back once a year.

I've got 2x Pro Ride, also at a decent price for £63 (I paid £52) that i can recommend.

great, but only if you have the aero bars.
They fit standard bars too. Superb bike carriers. I've tried a few and the pro ride are by far the best.

i got 4.
How do you guys put your bikes on the roof without damaging the car. I've seen the new sliding bars but are very expensive.

You need roof bars and a bike rack, otherwise they slide around and fall off.

Great deal but ended up buying an aero roof rack, fitting kit and lockable foot pack from Amazon too.. only £194 extra lol.

Being on here actually costs me more money than its should!

But saved on the cycle carriers, so thanks for posting.

What's a bicycle roof and why do I need to carry one?
What a daunting amount of systems.

I have a 2005 astra

I want to be able to carry 2 mountain bikes, i also anticipate changing cars in the next 12 months. What's the best gear to buy, in order not to lose out when i change vehicles?

These bike carriers should work on most bars as they include the T-Track adaptors for Aero bars and also the mounting system for square bars.
If you are changing your car in 12 months, you are unlikely to be able to use the bars and mounting feet on your new car. Most cars have different mounting feet and bar length requirements. Sometimes you can get lucky and you just need different adaptors on the feet but I would wait if possible or maybe use a rear bike carriers or tow bar carrier instead. More cars support the rear carriers and the tow bar ones obviously just need a tow bar on each car.
No easy answer i'm afraid.

Get a couple of these, and the cheapest roof bars you can get for your car. Then, when you change cars, buy new aero bars for it.
these are far better than the Halfords alternative. and if, like me, you have a Thule aero bar these are your only option
I also have never had a problem with gripping multiple bikes on these. I have even used with carbon road bikes.
Anyone know suitable solution for carrying 5 bikes? I have a tow bar Thule holder for 4 bikes, but my youngest is growing fast and can't squeeze his in the boot any more. Suppose I could add one or two roof bikes like these...

I've got 4 bikes on our roof using 4 of these quite easily. I reckon you might *just* squeeze on 5, providing you weren't overloading the weight limit on the roof bars.
Decent price, anyone recommend one that can take 20-22kg? Could take battery off but its a bit of a hassle

Check the weight of bikes.... Think mines about 20ans that's a specialised hard rock
We had tow bar fitted and got a tow bar bike carrier that takes 4 x 20 kg bikes but now if I stay with the Mrs we will need roof ones as well
Are these compatible with BMW roof bars? Got two cycle carriers already and want to fit a third one on.

Will have a look into it - cheers.

Buy a rear bike rack like a Saris Bones 3 (get the 3 instead of the 2 as you'll have space between the 2 bikes with the vacant slot). You could get one brand new or a 2nd hand one in good condition off Gumtree. The Saris Bones 3 is pretty durable, stable and corrosion resistant, with the added bonus of being compatible with a wide range of cars due to its design.

Google Saris Bones 3 compatibility and you should find the Saris website page where you'll know if the rack will be compatible with your future car. Using a rear bike rack is less flashy than carrying your bikes on top of your car but you will save a considerable amount of money and hassle with the roof racks as footpacks and roof bars vary from car to car. All the best!
1-2 months delivery.
I have Thule Freeride, they work... but wish I had spent the extra on Thule ProRide (less faff)

Seem less secure though if this video is anything to go by. I have the Freeride and they are great. I don't leave a bike unattended though.
