Think it means Infra red remote controlled (bit like the telly) ie you can switch the light on and off whilst sat on your backside.

Light on.... Light Off..........

Thinking about getting one of these, but not sure how the remote function works. If the wall switch is off, how does the remote possibly work? Would you need to leave the wall switch permanently on?

Yes you would
Spent a few hours cursing why it wouldn't work. Then I read the manual....

Anyone also got the floor standing lamp?

It appears to have different sized support poles which make it impossible to construct, more than likely going back unless I'm being an idiot...
Thought the manual was rubbish regarding the wiring .
I bought a similar lamp to the one your struggling with and I had a job figuring it out , I'll thought same but it was me .
I'll try and remember how I did it and let you know
Your comment saved my lot of head scratching mate, thank you!

Does removing the remote part of the light take away the need to switch on /off multiple times?
really ... light looks great, but how to get rid of the remote function so we could switch ON at the first flip

Excuse me asking, but was this difficult to do? We have three of them, on two remotes and a two way switch.
One of them is not playing ball today. Won't come on with the remote (checked the battery - it's ok) and won't come on with the switch flicking either They look fabulous though!
Please can you tell me how to disconnect the remote element. Cheers

The black box in the base of the light is the remote unit. It can be unclipped easily and the box comes apart easily enough. There are two input leads and two output ones, just cut them off the box and connect each of the input leads to an output one. Throw the box in the bin. Connect up light as normal and you should be fine. I've done it with two and they're great lights without that RC rubbish.
Does anyone know where you can get replacement shades for these lights from?
I've just had this installed by an electrician but the remote wasn't about when he fitted it I've now come home and turned the light on its really nice only one major issue it keeps switching off after 60 seconds is there any way I can over ride this ? It also only turns off via wall switch and not the remote
This light is driving me mad....wall switch won’t work even after the 2-3 cycle and RC stopped working every time I press on light switches on for a fraction of a second and then goes back off.
Just picked one up last night was only £14.99
from wigston , Leicester branch ..
