This or the Huawei GT 2 watch, and why?

This for function and Wear OS.
Huawei for battery life and style.

This or the Huawei GT 2 watch, and why?

Open OS vs Closed OS
Reinforced frame vs glass front that will crack with single contact with hard concrete/steel like surface.
Usability in every condition vs appeal.
Access to thousands of apps, root access to the watch endless customization settings vs rely on Huawei provided only styles.
Far more lasting battery vs every second day of charging.

It depends on your needs.
Personally as a Android user, I'd never buy a watch without Wear OS.
It's not perfect but outside of AppleWatchOS no one got even close.

If you need just a basics like a step counter, heartrate and extra appeal Huawei will suffice.

If want a watch that will give you access to whatsapp, facebook messenger, voice control, google assistant control, verbal commands, spotify, google calendar, and so on. - Wear OS watch then.

Just going on the promotion I added to my basket on Amazon, "free charging dock" when you purchase 1 or more watches. Was a separate item in my basket which was free at checkout..
Go for the ticwatch pro 4g it's got.more memory and less lag
I have own the multiple android wear watchs from the original LG watch square face to watch urbane and a few more and then this. I find android wear to be feature rich but its soooo clunky and has bugs. It keeps disconnecting the buttons don't work its hangs on occasions doesn't turn on ect. And it's not just that watch all of wear watchs have issues one way or another. My wife currently has new fossil gen 5 watchs and it's the same. I use a gt and I have own amazfit bip and now verve coming in the post. I personally don't like to charge daily and android wear watchs you will have to charge daily even this watch ticwatch pro only lasted a day and a half 2 days max for my use. I only need something to use as a notification center and watch and I think for this watch gt is fine. Even talking to reply to android wear watches was slow and took longer than taking my phone out to respond that it defeats the object of replying to a message. But everyone's different depends what features you want/need. Nfc payments are cool but it's just that cool. I'm happy taking out my wallet or phone to pay and think it's more style points than anything else as we all carry around our phones. If course everyone's mileage will vary.

Did you actually read that review lol

0.9 better Bluetooth

It's the worst comparison I've ever seen.

For me there's no choice, Google pay is the main function of my watch and I'll forsake the barometer

As for Hauwei Vs ticwatch battery life ...

great buy, but it's significantly more expensive than regular one.

@ssjinzo since I discovered the ability to use Android Wear OS watch as a mass storage I just put all my music on the watch going to the gym and I'm not even taking my phone with me anymore. My BT earbuds are connected to the watch, music player from Play Store plays the music and late evening Tesco shopping is done thanks to Google Pay.
Never had a hardware issue really with clunky nonresponsive buttons etc, it's not an apple watch fluidity ofc and never will be but I pay half the price and I can live with that.

I'd buy watch GT2 because it looks just spectacular but the constant fear of cracking the convex-shaped front glass on it throws me away. The friend of mine owns GT2 and it's just using this at work behind the desk. He takes it off when doing anything else in the house that involves the use of some specialty tools. What's the point.

I have this, wife went for the versa 2.

This watch is excellent once you stop ticservices from running, adjusted animation settings and some of the other crap. Otherwise it's incredibly slow and laggy, taking up to 30 seconds to register a button press, and battery life barely lasting a day. Once you've done that though it feels like a completely different watch - like switching from an atom CPU and HDD to and i5 and ssd, and can get 2-3 days out of it. Turn off tilt to wake too.

There is sleep tracking, ticsleep, and afaik is the only android watch to offer it, but I can't sleep with anything on my wrist. This is the only thing the versa 2 does better is it's lighter and less sharp.

Google assistant is excellent, can install a web browser on it, make phone calls from.my wrist, view photos, control my hue lights, as well as dozens of other useful apps. Essential mode is useful too if you've forgotten your charger.

If you aren't prepared to install ADB and do a bit of fiddling, don't get this as you'll hate it. If you're a tinkerer it's still one of the best smart watches on the market

Agree, this is far better than the Huawei watch. Imo only apple can make better smart watches.

The new Asus one with ecg and a load of health monitoring tools looked interesting, but then that is all it would do.
what about this vs galaxy watch?

I have a gt and I use it and banged it about without any marks apart from one small one on the metal casing. The bezel is ceramic and I have used it a lot and no damage. There is more wear on the silicone band. I don't use it for music or anything but the amazfit verve that cost like £80 has music function through Bluetooth headset too also samsung watchs also share this feature. Like I said other options for people to cover as long as it fits you more power to you. Anyway who listens to local music anyway with streaming services I only joke mate. Video below shows issues I have also had with watch os which I don't experience on other smart watchs from Samsung amazfit or huawei to name a few.

@ssjinzo I understand but from a perspective of a person who is using Google services constantly and google home speaker system, I'm not here to trade the arguments with you because you will never convince me to change the systems. I control lighting of my house from my watch, I can turn on the heater and set the temperature before I arrive from work, request playlist or music without shouting across the house trying to reach any of my google speakers. I do see notifications from my Yi Security camers on my wrist. I can phone, message or just send quick reply to anyone. The possibilities are truly endless.
Again if you are after only 2-3 options that you rely, and you can use your phone for anything else there are propably better smartwatches. But if you are surrounded by Google devices and you are using Google services often and you expect your smartwatch to be an ultimate extension of your phone... The choice is obvious.
and I'm not really trying to pitch the TicWatch in particular, I'm actually telling you that WearOS is a no brainer choice for power users.

If I'd ever want a watch without bugs, lags etc just a proper working watch, I'd buy an Apple Watch.

I dont intend for you to change what your doing whatever works for you more power to you. I understand the functions and flexibility of wear os but time it takes to do these things takes much longer than pulling out your phone due to the os lags it defeats the objects and most people dont live without having mobile devices at reach and on there persons. Also size of the smart watches screen being so small the whole experience is better on larger screen viewing security cameras ect . Iam sure it suits you a millions of others but a watch due to its size and mobile being on hand everytime being quicker and more efficient in speed and lack of crashes and hiccups that are on wear os just makes the whole experience not very efficient in my opinion. I also have CCTV app based my nest thermostat google home ect at my home iftt lights ect but wear os was too slow and buggy for me to use. Crash and slow to respond made it so i would have to use my mobile at times. Of course your opinion is different and that's perfectly fine I just want to put it out there so people can understand options from different camps and make up there own mind and see what fits them best.

And watches without lags samsung does a pretty good job also the os has a few of the major apps if that's what you want. It also has better battery life. I think I'm saying more like wear os needs a bit of a overhaul than saying wear os is rubbish which it is totally not. I just want it to be better and more refined.

1GB RAM vs 512MB (without 4G), going used on ebay just slightly below 200mark.
So worth it. Even for future resale.

from Poland.
I've purchased two watches from them in the past, the customer service is brilliant, they have replaced broken casing caused by my mistake (user error) and pretty much gave me a brand new watch 16m after purchase.

I guess you have done your homework on this. Would you be able to share some tweaks to improve overall experience/performance on it then a little more in detail. Was thinking about 4G version but considering its got same cpu don't think 1GB ram is worth extra £60?

4g only works with Vodafone I think (or did do)

First update the watch, all apps etc. Then do a factory reset.

I used this (or a similar guide)

reddit.com/r/T…ody

Next do this

forum.mobvoi.com/vie…586

Voilà. Brand new watch.

I can also recommend buying an app called staylit, it increases the length of time the screen stays lit (5s is default and it can't be changed on the watch!)

Theres a better heart monitoring app but I can't remember the name of it as left watch at work on charge.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Edit- I also suggest using the watch for a day before you do the tweaks just so you appreciate the speed difference!

cancelled my galaxy watch refurb and ordered the ticwatch pro 4g now as the main appeal of the Fossil was the stainless steel strap and just realised you can buy them and put them on the ticwatch anyway
after @ssjinzo post, I decided to pull the trigger and buy a galaxy watch.
after a full day of use, I've never felt so limited when switched from one device to another where google services simply doesn't exist in any form and shape.
Now I appreciate my WearOS watch even more.
Knowing that Huawei Watches offers even more limited functionality causes a grin on my face.

I didn't even realize after this last 2 years wearing WearOS watch that I became so attached to its vast functionality.
I've almost missed two meeting appointments yesterday because Galaxy Watch doesn't work with google services, including google calendar.

Galaxy Watch will receive a brexit treatment tomorrow.
P.S it's exactly as laggy as WearOS watches with plenty of microstutters. But the rotating bezel is a nice touch, improves usability but the button functionality and lack of its customization is a joke.
