Timex IronMan Triathlon 50 Lap Shock Resistant Solar Watch.

Half price at Argos - now £27.49.

I've got one of these watches. They don't need battery changes and as such remain waterproof throughout their life - unlike previous watches I've wrecked while surfing and kayaking.

Here's a review:

Been looking for a new watch as I think I accidentally threw the old one in the bin without realising.

Thanks for the great bargain.

These are pretty good watches... I got one similar and it feels great and looks good too...

Not bad, though a bit of a shame it is not radio controlled.

Cold because I live in a cave and no light gets in to charge this baby. If you live on the surface though I'm sure this is a very hot deal.

awesome deal, i have been after a new watch:thumbsup:

You're probably better off with a Wave Ceptor model like this one (although I got mine from Amazon UK). It just gets "everything" right (including the option of DD/MM/YYYY format, which every other Casio watch I've had stretching back years has never had, plus you can actually turn off the mode beep which always irritates me when you press the bottom left button). I'd have bought the solar-powered one instead if it wasn't such a silly price (63.99 quid for a digital watch? Pull the other one...) and the strap wouldn't break within a year or two.

As I said, the weak spot of all the Casio digital watches I've had is the resin strap - they break well before the battery runs out (so going solar probably doesn't help!) and don't seem to be replaceable either. I tried a metal strapped Casio once but the links broke and it kept trapping hairs on my wrist, so I gave up...

I read about the Casio straps, so I didn't include them in my shortlist.
But this watch is made by Timex - I'm wearing it now and the strap looks very robust.
I absolutely needed a solar watch as the only way you can guarantee a watch to be waterproof after a battery change is to send it away for a re-seal and a pressure test. At £30 a pop, forget it. I've got a drawer of watches that I now can't use in the sea. If the water proofing isn't an issue, the solar feature won't be of much importance to you, but to me it is.

brought one of these, waste of time, not water proof, went in 2 mtrs of sea for about 20mins, came out, inside of watch all misted up when watch cleared next day, dead as a dodo so going back tommorow for refund
