Stay clear of ni cd batteries if you don't use regularly. Store this for 6 months and it will be dead and won't hold charge. Spend a bit more on li ion and save some money over the longer term.

thank for the tip MrWani. I Might use a drill a few times a year so thats good to know.

The Stanley one is much better if you can afford it and available in your area cashback still just available ,but will last years?

Li-ion batteries die if you don't store them correctly too - according to this en.wikibooks.org/wik…ies they should be stored 40% charge (not full, and definitely not empty) and kept cool

Don't waste your money. For extra £10 they are selling Energer drill driver with 2x 14.4 li-ion battery. Much better product and will last you longer as battery lifecycle is much better.

NiCAD drills dont last because of battery dying, i have had three and they all die within a year or two if you dont use them on a regular basis, my li-ion is still like new after two years.

Another point to consider with Ni-Cd batteries is that you have to faff around charging them for the correct length of time as the 'chargers' are typically cheap wall-worts, with no intelligence. With Li-Ion the charging is autonomous so you plug in and forget. This will contribute to short battery life with the Ni-Cd equipped tools.

Defo worth an extra £10 for the Li-Ion one - it is a bargain
