Found 30th Apr 2017
My mate who likes the 50p bargain yellow sticker item or 10p for a bag of chicken legs, asked , " why you don't get a breville" ?
After tasting the I made with this toastie, she said. get me one next time you go to wilko.
I hope she pays the £6 and not ask for it to be yellow stickered by me

Before buying just make sure you check your bottom cupboards in the kitchen right at the back. 50% chance you have one back there.

Question is what did u make in this toastie??

These things are rubbish compared to the MAGNIFICANT Breville Panini makers.

You can make LOADS of different things in the Brevilles. These make a diverse range of restaurant quality GOURMET toasted sandwiches, paninis, or other things cooked on the non-stick plates : use your imagination. They are well made, wipe clean in seconds, and durable. Yes it's £25, but that's not a lot given how well liked they are go check out some reviews

I'm on my second one now first one lasted about 10 years!

Currently cheapest at Tesco Direct.

We had to return ours after only a couple of uses as the inside plastic casing began to melt! Took a refund as didn't want to risk it happening again. We were probably just unlucky though.

The Breville will do deep ones the top plate levers down, gravity does it's stuff and the lid is just the right weight to add a little compression. You have to use your brain and not put stuff right at the edge, cheese melts so you learn how to top the bread, so the contents are distributed evenly after cooking. It's dead easy.
Does anyone know where I can get a toastie maker that takes two slices of bread. Four is too much for me and my old one is on its last legs.

I liked your comment because it's factually accurate but as I said, YES it's £25, but that's not a lot given how well liked they are. Did you check out some reviews.

It's an alternative suggestion not a competing deal.

My view is £6 is setting the bar too low. These type often get used once or twice then shoved in a cupboard and forgotten about. That's because they're not very good frankly.

Whereas for the cost of a couple cafe toasted sandwich per year, you can have an appliance that will produce the same quality results at home, lasts for years, and almost everyone who owns one loves it and uses it regularly.
I use a George Formby grill (when I'm grilling sandwiches!) as I can just as easily grill chicken or bacon as well. Having a toastie maker is all well and good but I'm more interested in versatility. And bacon.
Panini grills are no good for bean and cheese toasties, gotta have a proper toasted sandwich maker if you want something with very wet ingredients..

I'm wary of cheap toasted sandwich makers as they often have big design/quality issues.

Very shallow plates is a common one (half the ingredients get forced out), as are plates that are either significantly smaller than a typical slice of bread (so you get a crust of uncooked, dried out bread around it) or too big (so the bread fails to reach the part of the plate that seals it shut).

Also bought one especially dangerous Tesco one where the lid doesn't lean far enough back on its hinge when you open it. This has the delightful effect of the incredibly hot lid randomly slamming down on the back of your hand when removing a sandwich. God knows how that passed safety inspections.
took mine back the other day as plastic on top melted, well bubbled up,took refund as only had it a month

Thanks, you just saved me £6.
You get what you pay for, used this a few times and then the plastic snapped.

Challenge accepted !
I have one but it is a pain to clean, can't put it in water, I want one with removable plates, so purchasing one of those instead. But this is a great price in you just want a cheap Toastie Maker!

hmm been looking past couple of days but can't find mine...white colour from a few years ago ..I know it's here somewhere simply can't locate it, even phoned my kid sis to see if perchance I'd passed it on to her. Nope!..gonna search one more time before getting this
Is this the type that seals the contents between the bread? Ah how I miss those days of biting into the toast only to have molten cheese spill out and scold every part of flesh it dripped on...
