I didn’t say it wasn’t quality. I’ll gladly sell you my L collection at the right price. I also have some 60 year old manual focus SMC Takumars if you want real quality, much higher than Canon, they’re worth hundreds a piece.

Drpickup

cool - sell me all your "dead" system then ! huge marketplace for Canon / Nikon kit, and the L series lenses hold there value probably better than ANY other system in the market, so if its not for you, pass it on, lots of people who do appreciate quality ;-)

NikTheGeek

I didn't say it should have more zoom, I said "if you want it in times instead of length" - just trying to help others out that wouldn't understand what 18-55 means. Not everyone understands it. 3x zoom, is easier. Someone new to photography will find a 18-55 limiting and would require more lenses quite quickly and are likely to be dissapointed in it. If you are a photographer, you may well have lenses already. So I still think it's crap and not the bargain it's made out to be, but if you are an expert photographer, please feel free to differ ;)

Cremoso99

I've seen this camera in Currys and it is the cheapest-looking lump piece of plastic I've ever seen, very poor from Canon. Would pay a bit more for a 2000D or even better a Nikon d3400. Or a budget mirrorless APS-C like the Sony a5100.

derekblankmccoy

Specific? A second hand X-T10 with the 18-55 kit is a good place to start. Probably about the same price as this but the quality is miles ahead.

Mr.Heater

Sorry for the late reply. I tested mine, as you mentioned, its little rough while turning when compared to my 18-135mm lens. Other than that, I haven't noticed much difference with the font, color.

Handel78

Thanks Muf. I used the pics on Amazon, and Canon Hong Kong website and it does seem that they have changed the font and colour of writing on the lens. I only have the kit lens to compare it to but thanks for the offer. I might email Canon just to be on the safe side.

muf

I ordered one from Amazon as I couldn't wait. If you want pics etc. to compare just ask.

Handel78

OK, thanks. I thought the writing on the lens was more faint and not white in colour like my kit lens but Canon might have changed the design. Also, when I attach it to the camera it does not turn and click smoothly. There seems to be more of a resistance / grinding feeling - like the fit is not as good as the kit lens. I'm not sure if that is normal.

Mr.Heater

Cool. Mine is also delivered today. Will check once go home tonight.

Well regarded speaker at a good price
ChutneyFerret

Really? One of my kids has the smaller more portable version and it makes a hell of a lot of noise. I'd 60 quid i'd say this was a bargain.

AVguy18

If anyone wants outdoor filling sound, check out the Soundboks 2. Expensive as a mother ****er but damn have they got some oomph.

colliwag

Really like this speaker. Granted the sound isn’t room filling but it’s better than others of a similar size and/or price. take the Bose micro for instance, more expensive at £85ish but the sound is no way near as good and doesn’t go as loud. feels good quality too. I got it on a amazon treasure truck deal for £50 but I think £59.99 is still apretty fair price.

They have lost my phone since it entered the UK ... Just hope PayPal gives me a refund. I don't expect Toby deals to answer emails because in my experience they don't. PayPal claim opened. No response as yet. Think I now have to wait 10 days and on the 11th PayPal refund if no response from seller. I'm not expecting any response given reviews on Google and my tracking is now showing as lost in transit. What to do next ??? Think I will wait to make sure I get a refund before deciding if I am going to risk buying another. Disappointing experience for me.

jakeyboy4398

Mine seems to be in South Normanton awaiting collection. I think the last leg of the journey is with yodel. It's been there since 11th. Does this sound normal. I spoke to yodel via live chat, all they could say was they didn't have the item yet. They said email Tobydeals so I have done. It did say estimated delivery 15th on Friday so I expected it yesterday or today but clearly not correct.

Spedley

I ordered one of these on the 1st and still not had a despatched email. I didn't realise I'd clashed with an offer here and it may explain why a 'in stock' item still hasn't been sent. Still, going by all the bad reviews of tobydeals I don't think I should be worried for another week yet. :)

padamowicz93

Does anyone know if you can return eglobal order?

Minstadave

No customs for mine, looked to be shipped from a UK address. I got a UK charger in the box. I think they ship in bulk to the UK then post individual phones from a UK address so you’re largely safe from HMRC. i just went for the cheapest shipping. Tracking didn’t work (Got a yodel tracking number but came with DPD) but arrived in about 10 days.

Longy

Sorry guys, quite a few questions.... I see there are different versions of this for India and elsewhere. Does it matter what version this is? Can you tell which it is? How are TobyDeals for avoiding customs? Do I need to choose a particular shipping method to have a better chance of avoiding customs? Thanks. My OnePlus One battery is finally beginning to run out of steam!

Kensirstagwaff

That's yodel for you

jouster

I see your point there. I agree many watches a more garbage nowadays. But as someone with headphones costing 2 and 3 tines what the AirPods cost, they are far from crap and in truth are actually very good. That said I only paid £100 for my set brand new so for me they are doing a fantastic job and worth what I personally spent

deleted2053047

My point is you should buy watches from companies famous for making fine watches, cars from manufacturers that have honed the product over decades and likewise, audio products from people that do their research on audio reproduction. I honestly think that if Apple brought out a tractor some people would actually buy it over a Massey Ferguson....and pay the Apple tax for the privilege

"Fake" site. Same as eglobal. It's the same trader. Lots of bad reviews. Avoid. Lots of fake good reviews online, by 1 time fake reviewers.

Jace_Phoenix

Indeed, but PayPal will side with a not as described case. it also says here that Customs check to make sure import fees and VAT have been correctly paid, and if anything is outstanding the courier will ask for it. https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty Therefore, as i said.... if the courier delivers it and you aren't asked to pay anything then surely it has been taken care of, otherwise you reject and get paypal to sort.

paulj48

Import duty 'may' be paid by them as stated in their T's&C's but VAT is not mentioned and has to be paid in the UK and cannot be paid beforehand. Regarding your rejecting delivery, don't forget your dealing with a Hong Kong business so you have zero consumer rights in the UK.

Jace_Phoenix

Exactly, so if the item arrives and alls good, nothing to pay...then you know it's all been already taken care of right? Most horror stories are from people not realising that they need to pay VAT and import tax, and what they thought was a bargain turns out expensive when the courier ask you to pay for the customs........ whereas with likes of Toby Deals/EGlobal they state on their tc's and c's that they pay the fees on your behalf. Therefore if the item arrives and then they ask you for VAT/Import tax then you simply tell them that the fees were meant to be taken care of by the seller and you can then take it up with PayPal etc, or reject the delivery! My point about false declaration was just an example scenario

paulj48

The courier (be it Royal Mail or DHL etc.) will act as the agent to collect the VAT and import duty on behalf of the UK government, they'll also add a 'fee' on top for doing this. Why would a company declare the value as less than £20 (and why would you want them to) when the goods value a lot more, good luck claiming on insurance if they go missing or are damaged with a falsified value. There's plenty of horror stories on here regarding import duty and VAT liability.

ok, MY BAD maybe I am not still firing on all cylinders, I am not sure why all the comments were open the first time, and collapsed when I checked this morning. it turns out the website I read the 6 pro review has some headliner trickery that is setting the review date to precisely one hour prior to you reading the page, so I thought it was a brand new review. Not sure if this is intentional;, or a weird bug caused by NoScript or something. here you have a try I have yet to see a SINGLE Xiaomi phone on sale in China, despite living there for months at a time over the last decade; last time I was out there (2015), they wouldnt even ship a phone to a Chinese address, I had to get it shipped to my UK address and wait for me to arrive back home (even using my wifes Chinese bank details). They do ship a LOT to Taiwan though. The local electronics market where I stay is 6 stories high, of which 4 are purely for phones, and not one Xiaomi on sale. India has always been their main market, and at least as far back as my original Note (3G), setting India as the location country got you extra features that didnt appear if you selected any other country, even China with the Chinese ROM. Sure, they now target other countries, you can even set an EU country as your location on the last couple of generations; it was always amusing to see you could select "The Falkland Islands", but not the UK as location. As for Note 6 Pro global launch date, since it wasnt launched alongside the other new phones this weekend, 10th October sounds like it might be the real date. it is highly unlikely they will launch now (Mooncake festival, even the post office shuts down).

dreadzone101

You're really grasping at straws here to justify your previous comments but yet again you provide more misinformation. The Redmi 6 Pro was not launched today. It was launched in India at the beginning of September< after having already been launched in China at the end of June<. It has already got a Global launch. The Global Version of "Redmi 6 Pro" is the Android One "Mi A2 Lite". That is why "Redmi 6 Pro" is bracketed as a name on the GSMArena Mi A2 Lite spec page< and it says at the top of the specs "Versions: Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (Global); Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro (China, India)". The suggestion that maybe GSMArena confused Note for non Note is hilarious given that their "Redmi 6 Pro" page has been there since it was launched in June whereas they only recently posted the a spec page for "Redmi Note 6 Pro". So not only did you confuse speculation with actual reviews, you also confused an unreleased phone for an already released one. "India is always Xiaomi's main target market"...? Almost all of their phones are released in China first before coming to India (sometimes under different naming). There have also been many incidences where "Global Version" arrived in other countries before India ever got it. Mi Max 3 has launched in China. It has also arrived in Hong Kong, Taiwan and as "Global Version" in Singapore/Malaysia but hasn't reached India yet. The only phones that have released in India first were RN4 Snapdragon, the RN5 SD636 and the Pocophone. Perhaps the Mi A1/A2 as well although China already had the MIUI variants Mi 5X/6X. "I stand by what I said, comments about the Note 6 Pro are missing from when I first read the page; when I looked this morning there were only 3 comments, when I looked before, there were over a dozen." LOL!!! Now it makes sense (lol) By default GSMArena display 3 comments at the bottom of their spec pages with a button to "read all opinions". Currently it says "Total user opinions: 45" which date back to 18th Sept. So basically you didn't notice that therefore assumed they were deleted. Not sure why you'd think they would delete comments in the first place but you've already demonstrated your logic is rather baffling. To show how absurd of a suggestion it is that they would delete incorrect comments, here is their Mi 6 Plus page<. A phone that never surfaced and yet there's still 85 comments on it.

Gentle_Giant

I think I have found the cause of the varying specs. Today Xiaomi have launch the "Redmi 6 Pro", and the specs for it match some of the erroneous specs I read slopping around for the Redmi NOTE 6 Pro; which according to some Indian sites, isnt due to be launched until 10th October. Since India is always Xiaomi's main target market, I would expect that to be the first launch, with the global launch a few weeks later - as per Pocophone. If anyone ordering from Toby gets their phone before then, perhaps they could post a confirmation that they were shipped the right phone, and the date they received it. I stand by what I said, comments about the Note 6 Pro are missing from when I first read the page; when I looked this morning there were only 3 comments, when I looked before, there were over a dozen. Now it may be that GSMA also made the Note/not a Note error and have tidied up their pages; it wouldnt be the first time they got specs wrong and had to correct reviews/pages after an official launch - despite what you say.

Mrswitch

(y) This is a notch... and I'd recommend the Xiaomi redmi Note 5

kit-cat

Apologies for my ignorance but what is a 'notch?' And which would you recommend the 5 note or the 6 pro? :/

Price on these seems to be falling fast, eglobal central now offering same sort of price. I suspect I should wait to see if any Huawei / honor phones get announced in Oct and see what that does to prices before jumping in.

thetreesergeant

Worth pointing out that the Honor 10 is more of a 'premium midrange' device not a flagship. So probably on a par with the Mi 8 SE but in many aspects would be considerably better off going for the Poco F1 (IMHO) unless the camera is your main focus. Pun intended.

I would not include any value the phone actually has in the discount as you could sell it for cash. But if you got an iPhone 7 for say £150 off ebay and trading it in got you £400 (£200 for the phone and £200 trade in bonus offer) then you have an extra £50 discount. My Galaxy Note 2 with a broken screen has been in a drawer for 4 years and is worth close to zero.Samsung Galaxy Note9 special offerBased on a normal upfront cost of £299.99 at £46 with 30GB on O2, when trading in a working Samsung S7 worth up to £120 and receive an additional £200 and a Samsung Wireless Charger worth £49.99 when you pre-order the Note 9. Save £299.99 based on the upfront cost on the above tariff. SIM free price based on regular RRP of £899. Any additional trade-in value will be given via cash / debit card. Full trade in offer available with selected working and non-working handsets limited to; Samsung Note (2,3,4,5,8), S7, S7 edge, S8, S8 Plus iPhone (6S, 7, 8) and Google Pixel (1 & 2). Trade in price is determined by whether the phone is working or non-working. To qualify for a working price the phone needs to power ON/OFF, have no missing pixels, damage, burnt LCD's, include battery and charges up, have no cracks or chips on screen, all working buttons, have no damage or faults to camera, have sound & vibrates, have no liquid damage, not be bent, miss shaped and have all parts. Any handsets that fail these conditions will be deemed Non-Working and pricing will be reflected. We will accept handsets that are water damaged, won't power up/work properly or have a chipped or cracked screen, case or missing buttons and includes battery and will be given a non-working value. We do not accept crushed handsets. For more information click here(taken from pumpkin157’s post on the note 9 promo deal)

Quick question, if I was to order this would it it eligible to the samsung trade in programme if I wanted to do so a year or two down the line? I ask because it is an international version not an EU version so I don't know if they would accept it. They say in their T&Cs: "It must be original and meet the manufacturer’s original EU specifications (and is not personalised with any custom engraving). For example, the entire colour of the device must match the original manufacturer’s specification." So I am not sure. Also are their any down sides apart from not manufacturers warranty of ordering this? Amazon say bixby and samsung pay may not work, is there aything else to be aware of? https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?node=14598753031&pf_rd_p=6b489165-6577-4baa-ae84-98d4402543af&pf_rd_s=detail-ilm&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B079ZMM2QP&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=JYBTP9X1NSP5HMWDAY9X&pf_rd_r=JYBTP9X1NSP5HMWDAY9X&pf_rd_p=6b489165-6577-4baa-ae84-98d4402543af Thanks

Do NOT buy a (higher end) gopro the new models are being announced thurs all the old stock prices will drop as they are really shaking up the models and specs. What i would recommend though is buying a hero 2018 cheap, and updating the firmware so its a hero 5 ( or buying a hero 5 if the price really drops ) reason being the new specs and features on the go pros basically suck unless you buy the hero 7 black, and they changed the build with fixed lenses and batteries for some obscure reason,

The big difference with these grey imports is that they are Apple. If i were to buy with a credit card or PayPal does this insure you should it fail to arrive? Also if you register the device serial number with Samsung won't that be accepted for its manufacturers warranty? I don't think I've ever had to put where I bought a product from when registering it's warranty. It does say if the item is faulty you only pay a return fee to send within UK and no admin or restock fee.

rogparki

You are obviously well informed , so surely cannot be unaware that many members (less well informed ) think these deals are endorsed by HUKD , so are risk free . HUKD are obviously profit driven so will not put the warning on posts (in case it cuts down there referral income ). Informed members will still see and benefit from your posts (if it is a good deal) if you include a warning (as @Mrswitch always does ) . Or is the "I'm all right Jack" mindset OK with you ? I personally think that well informed members such as yourself should consider fellow members who are less well informed and probably in less of a position to take the financial gamble of buying from these sites . Are you trying to benefit fellow members by posting deals ? In which case you should inform members of the possible pitfalls - or is it just an ego thing and you are angling for the maximum "Heat" :( whatever the cost to some members ? I would really love to know , I personally believe we are members of this site to help fellow members .

cartwheelbob

You spoke too soon my friend

cartwheelbob

I'm hiding nothing mate. What's in the description is my personal experience. If you want a full UK warranty then buy from a UK company. I'm just posting deals for people to make their own balanced decisions, I've bought from this company so will vouch for them. I've not needed a warranty and am willing to take the associated risk. People will make their own decisions... They are not morons

rogparki

Why hide the facts ? Toby like all the Chinese sellers you quote are all poorly reviewed , for a reason . People "google " for an item and inevitably find the "cheapest" is one of these glossy Chinese seller sites where you have to burrow down a bit to realise they are Chinese sellers :( . Perhaps that burrowing down is beyond some people who then whinge about long delivery times , customs that must be paid , DOA items which they can not then return etc etc . If you know the facts (and understand mobile phones, how to "flash" Roms etc or are fluent in Chinese ) then I have no problem with informed members seeing a bargain and apparently saving much money . I have been a pain for years banging on about the risks of buying from glossy Chinese websites , Some members think that if "advertised" on HUKD it must be a good risk free deal (or it would surely be barred !). Many of our more trusted posters now put warnings on their posts - sadly the HUKD employee msmyth and many others never do . I have used "Contact" on an almost weekly basis over the last couple of years (since Chinese deals were "unbanned " ) to ask for a "Health warning " to be added to deals from these previously banned websites . Such as :- "This item will probably ship from China /HK (despite the vendor claiming an EU warehouse ) and thus take 2-3 weeks delivery time and be liable for UK customs duties ,VAT , handling fees etc . You may be able to return (at your own expense ) subject to an 80% restocking fee even if DOA . It will be a grey import so no manufacturers warranty ." What is the problem putting that "warning " on all Chinese posts ? So members might think twice before maxing out their Credit cards on a "too good to miss offer". Members who swear by these sites and can afford to take the gamble know this already -so no skin off their noses . Why won't HUKD and their employee @msmyth apply this warning and protect its less informed members ? as @Mrswitch always does . Yes there are bargains to be had for the well informed , but just read the reviews and comments on here to hear all the heartbreaking stories from those not so well informed . Cue all the comments from incentivised folks (skeptical) , but why could you possibly object to members being fully informed of the possible risks ?
