I can't believe it won't come out later on PS4. The game would sell millions across both consoles, I cannot fathom why they would make it exclusive on the platform with less consoles sold...

Only exclusive for like 2 months tho. Exclusive in 2015 and released late holiday season = released end of Nov 2015 and on PS4 Jan 1st 2016

It's to make people buy the dying console to continue the saga that is Tomb Raider.

Same with Sunset overdrive, more exclusives helps a console sell. But I won't bite for the Microsoft xbox console.

You just cannot keep the PS fanboys down. Just because Microsoft have a couple of months exclusivity, this one isn't. It's a good game, FACT.

I don't think it's been made clear if its a timed exclusive, or total exclusivity. Needs clarifying really.

I get that from Microsoft's perspective, I meant I can't see why Square Enix would do it.

To be honest I don't know what exclusives PS4 have around the corner, apart from Uncharted. But Xbone is lining up some good ones, Tomb Raider, Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, Phantom Dust, Crackdown 3, Below and even Ori looks good. The future is bright.

I'm not 100% sure, I don't think there's been any confirmation regarding that, however going by this

It looks like it is only on Xbox unless its just a timed exclusive.

Driveclub, The Order, Bloodborne, Little Big Planet, Uncharted and whatever may get announced today. So not as many but still a fair few

Even if it is timed exclusive, which isn't confirmed yet, I highly doubt it would only be a couple of months.

Awful, not getting another TR game what aload.... Xbox exclusive wow

this is completely exclusive (for how long we don't know) for PC games the words to look out for are "console exclusive" so 90% of those indie games like space engineers and what not are already out on PC and are designed to only be on either MS but not Sony or Sony but not MS for some amount of time but just go play them right now on PC.

"UPDATE: Both Microsoft representatives and the Tomb Raider official tumblr are indicating that this is indeed a full exclusive rather than a timed one."

M$ Exclusive usually means 6 months.

If it was funded by Microsoft it would be published by them, Square-Enix is still publishing it.

I agree with what folks are saying, the wording of the conference and following statement from the developer does leave the door wide open for a 2016 release on both PS4 and PC

Oh and this deal is cold.

I feel very cheated buying Tomb Raider DE for PS4, and then being excited for Rise as it was revealed as multi-platform at E3, only for Microsoft to throw money at Square Enix and divide the fanbase with this shady BS.

Yeah, I've been Xbox for years and got an Xbone now, I'm just waiting for a few titles to give me a reason to jump in and get a PS4 as well. Really want to try Uncharted but can't justify it just for that. I'll check out The Order and Bloodborne, but little big planet and Project Spark (Xbox) really don't interest me.

Forgot to mention that there must be a Gears of War title coming for Xbox at some stage too.

AKA thanks for your support with the first TR, but tough it's Xbox only.

Really is a slap in the face to those that bought the first game. I bought it on PS3, and I am going to get the definitive edition on PS4 to play through again. yet I can't play the next game on the PS4? If they were going to do this for next gen, they shouldn't of released the DE on PS4 - they should of just come out and said for next gen they are Xbox only.

Yeah there's not really a reason to get a PS4 right now at all if you have an Xbox, and next year I can't see it being too much different. I don't really think it's worth buying a console just for a couple of games, but maybe in 2016 there will be a bigger amount of great PS4 exclusives that will justify a purchase. Hopefully some will be announced today.

Nowhere have Square Enix/Microsoft etc. mentioned that it's a timed exclusive, let alone exclusive for 2015 only. You need to stop believing everything you see on the internet

Just for clarity:

The conference speech said:

Xbox chief Phil Harrison was keen to emphasise that the title will be “exclusive in 2015” and that “Xbox One will be the only platform that you’ll be able to play the game on next year

The statement you posted said:

"As you may have seen, we've just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox"

and

"This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December"

You will notice that every statement of exclusivity is married with "Holiday 2015", "December" "Only place to Play Next Year"

From a marketing point of view that does indeed leave the door open for a 2016 multi-platform release.

You're just grasping at straws mate. "Coming holiday 2015, exclusively on Xbox" is how it would be phrased for any exclusive game. Sony would say for example, "Uncharted 4 coming holiday 2015, exclusively on ps4".

The onscreen graphic at the conference was phrased in the same way. It sounds like you are just in damage control mode. And of course they are going to mention coming holiday 2015 in every phrase because that is the release date. They wont say "coming holiday next year" because there is a holiday season between then and now, so they have to emphasise the year.

I also dont know how this backs up your point:

"This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December"

This is basically saying how if you are a Ps4 Tomb Raider fan, you will still have those games on Ps4 but not this one. And again, the month December is mention because that is the release date of the Temple of Osiris game.

You are their target audience mate.

It's only a game.

Sure T.R: D.E. is good fun on the ps4 - loved it myself and was looking forward to the next one.

Wouldn't convince me to buy another console.

Remember when Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil switched consoles years ago?

Might convince me to sell my ps4 if if keeps happening and play my guitar more lol.

That's a really well thought out, and coherent rebuttal. Well done.

They need to remember there roots, i no its different developers from back in the day, but tomb raider was born and made a francise on playstation would'nt be soo popular if it was'nt for sony
