trade in any old xbox 360 controller and get a new tomb raider themed wireless controller (with the changeable dpad) for half price (£19.99). Not sure of it's nation wide though. Plus there was limited stock, my local had four and I bought 2.

Seemed a good deal as my old white controllers were pretty worn and I wanted an update.

One thing to note is that they need to take ur old battery pack, or if u had a wireless pack the cable too, when trading in your old controller.

Can you trade Xbox pads in aswell? Or do they have to be Xbox 360 pads? Perhaps you should update title if that is the case.

just xbox 360 pads

Only an idiot would think they could trade in Xbox controllers.

do they take off the value of ur pad ur trading in off the £19.99?

if not it should be get £20 towards your purchaseof a tomb raider controller rather than get it half price

Poor deal.

These controllers should be priced at £20 regardless of trade ins. No battery, no charging cable, etc.

Unfortunately I can see M$ pulling the same move with the next xbox as well, i.e. charge £30 for a controller then £15 for a battery pack and usb cable. They love screwing over their customers for extra $$$.

The one good thing to come from the Wii U is controller pricing. Whilst Dualshock3 controllers retail for £30 and below now, they're hardly new. A new Pro Controller costs £30 and has a 80 hour battery built in. At the very least, I'd expect 80 hours from the dualshock 4.

Bladiblabla. Quit whining. This is a limited edition controller which offers quality. If you want just an controller, get a plain one.

Agreed, Micro$oft do milk the system, but then again that's why their successful in many ways, im sure us as customers may soon reap the benefits in the near future from an even better console with all this milking they've done. 1st complaint I have is rechargeable battery packs, should've been supplied with the consoles/controllers as standard. That didnt stop me from buying a quick charge kit and battery packs, they are an essential & an integral part of anyones gaming experience

Microsoft milk the system? Really?

RRP of XBox 360 wireless controllers - £39.99

RRP of PS3 Dualshock 3 controllers - £59.99

RRP of 250gb XBox 360 slim console - £199.99

RRP of Sony PS3 500GB superslim console - £249.99

RRP of 4gb XBox 360 console - £149.99

RRP of 12gb PS3 superslim console - £179.99

By the way, I don't buy the Microsoft Play and charge kits, I either use rechargeable batteries or the Duracell double charge station with 2 batteries I got from Amazon for like £9.

they do come with batteries lol!
and cheapaschips, they charge 39.99 for the tomb raider controller hen take off - £20.00 for the traded in official pad regardless of it's age.

Hahahahaha.

Surely you aren't that gullible that you really think RRP has any significant impact on real world pricing? Pathetic.

Quality? No. Far from it. Pretty much every one of the post 360-slim controllers I've owned has had severe quality issues. I returned 3 of the silver ones bundled with play & charge kits, due to high pitched squeaking with the analogue sticks, as well as poor shoulder button functionality (usually one side didnt click or offer any feedback). My current wired 360 pad I use w/ my PC has all of these issues as well, and since it is the older dpad, pressing right on it rarely provides any feedback at all.

I've yet to experience any issues with any of my PS3, Wii, Gamecube, PS1/PS2 pads. Heck, even my SNES pad still works great, despite being used to death. Same can be said about the consoles themselves. Whilst the original 360's felt solid (aside from the crappy DVD drives), Microsoft completely threw quality control out of the windows after it. My 360 slim felt like it was ready to fall apart right after I lifted it out of the box.

Batteries that die after about 25 hours use. Then you need to spend a fiver a week buying duracells or spend 10-15 quid on a play and charge. You could always buy a chinese knock off, but they are of extremely poor quality. Even the GAMEware branded ones are garbage.

I dnt understand ur issues with xbox controllers. I've never had a problem with any of mine and until now, I've had 3 since launch day lol!

In my opinion they're just as strong & well built as any other controller ive owned.

Pathetic? You obviously know HotUkDeals really well then as if you search any deal for either XBox or Sony consoles, controllers, accessories etc you will find XBox stuff always comes up cheaper..

So you sir are the pathetic one, now crawl back into your cave.

I wasnt complaining about build quality. Thats fine. The quality of plastics etc they use for the components however, leaves a lot to be desired.

The dualshock has much poorer build quality, as there is a lot of flex in the body of the controller, and a lot of creaking. The buttons though, make up for it.

I just wish they'd both up their standards a bit and at least try to compete with Nintendo where quality controllers are concerned.

Do some research kid. This is getting embarrassing for you.

I mean I could look at other retailers and give you more alternatives but I really don't need to as it's well known that XBox 360 products are cheaper than PS3.

Thanks OP, regardless of the debate it's a pretty good deal if you have an old busted control kicking about.

Add to the Xbox the price of your seperate bluray player and it doesn't seem so good.

I've found that the XBOX controllers are pretty solidly built, unless I play call of duty or battlefield 3..Then they inexplicably explode. Very strange, I think I am on my 3rd now.

"or if u had a wireless pack the cable too"

Plug and play kit was not supplied with a wireless controller you leave me a bit confused over this statement surely all they need is the battery pack ? or the battery compartment cover since thats all that was supplied with more controllers.

What I mean is, if you have purchased a plug and play kit you can either trade that in or the battery pack that came with the controller.

You did not just do that...

1. The PS3 controller is currently cheaper on amazon than the Xbox 360 controller. RRP means very little.
2. You've conveniently missed the extra 250 gb, Blu Ray functionality, free online play and lower power consumption of the PS3 slim in that "comparison" of the consoles. Same applies for the 12gb version minus the extra hard drive space.

I know some people prefer PS3s and some people prefer Xboxs but I don't understand why some people feel it necessary to do away with facts to defend their preference so vociferously.

Comparing a 250gb xbox to a 500gb PS3. Also comparing 4gb XBOX to a 12gb PS3

LOL.

They want to compete online. Properly shut down their stores soon.

Do all of the stores have it? I too am quite interested in this deal, assuming it's not limited to specific stores.

You are trying to argue that Microsoft doesn't rip off customers with their accessories pricing? And you're trying to do this by showing that Sony charges £3 more for a controller includes a rechargeable battery, which Microsoft sells as a £14.99 add-on?

Why not just try your luck?

I remember paying £45 for an N64 pad, nearly £500 on launch for my PS2 and £60 for Super Mario world

honestly, in comparison gaming is much cheaper these days...

Do they check if controllers are working? I have a few with dodgy buttons or cracked casing etc. Just wondering if they care about condition or not. Would appreciate hearing from anyone that has traded one in, thanks!

So they connect it to a console in stole and check each button works before allowing you to trade it in? Sorry if this is obvious to everyone else but i genuinely want to know
