Are they still available at that price? I wouldn't mind picking one up.

Dammit i've just subscribed to pocketgps for speed cameras, not complaining though they are very good.

Not anymore :-D

Does this mean that I can use this with Tom Tom navigator 6 which is on my SPV M700 and it will update speed camera positions?

£12.45 delivered with value sim (or above price if you return the sim).

Good spot.

Couldn't get the PC World one to work otherwise would have been on it like a shot.

Any know a good deal for the Map Updates for a TomTom One?

Good deal

Used to be half price (£20) on TomTom home software until recently. Refused to pay that though and normal price is taking the pi$$!

I still think Pocketgps at £2 for each update is the best value, and its more comprehensive than the Tomtom ones. Plus it has speed zones (so will tell you its a 30 mph limit camera etc.

I have both the TT official ones, and the PocketGPS and the Pgps ones are more reliable with more cameras listed.

Edit: Ahh they changed it so you have to pay £19 a year rather than £2 per update. Shame.

The Pocketgps.co.uk speedcam database is more reliable indeed, I'd rather use their speedcams (they are speedzoned as well, you get an icon with the speed limit, f.i. 30 with a red circle around it). But this Tomtom is hard to beat still (£10 vs £19). Shame pocketgps.co.uk no longer offer updates valid for 30 days for £2 :-(

I also think pocketgps database is fantastic. As mentioned they are split into different type of cameras and different speed zones. They also have info on the site to put actual voice warnings on the camera instead of just a boing or buzz. For example mine will say "warning gatso ahead speed limit 30 miles per hour".

I think it is well worth the £19 for a years worth of updates. It is especially good if, like I did, you can find a permanent camera that isn't on the database as you get free subscription for life.

Do these subscription have mobile cameras on them?

Most people get caught by the mobile ones and as far as I am aware they are not included.

Any comments....

Hi
The pocketgps ones include moblie camera sites as well!

thanks Postipat, ill have a look at that.

Pocketgps looks like a great product, to add to your tomtom

any links for pocketgps product?

Err how on earth can anyone include MOBILE camera sites? Surely by definition they move around?? :? Care to explain how that works exactly?

Pocketgps are better and the database can be easily found using google so you dont have to pay anything

It is, without doubt as I've used both, the best product available for speed camera locations. They provide almost monthly updates to the data; think it's about 10 or 11 per year. Some may question the extra cost over this deal, but that depends on your driving style and how much a points-free licence is worth to you. I'd say PocketGPS is worth the extra £9.02.

It's known locations where mobile cameras have been sited previously - doesn't mean to say that they will be there when you go by - but, they could be and gives you awareness.

Would agree, but they clamped down massively on copyright after the 'free' availability of their database on the net - this was the reason they stopped the £2 subscription fee that offered updates for 30 days. Led to believe that your download contains an id code that identifies which member uploaded the update on bit torrent etc sites - action would then be taken against them. Moreover, the whole point of being a member is that you are getting the latest information - between Mar 08 and Apr 08 there was 437 updates to the camera info.

PocketGPSWorld.com cameras are MASSIVELY better than the tomtom rubbish.

I wouldn't buy the proper ones for any price.

Well I will just save myself £9.98 by continuing to stick within the speed limits

Another Pocketgps Safety Camera fan here:thumbsup: You also have access to other countries as well so if you travel abroad you can download those camara locations under your subscription.

Well worth the extra money over the TomTom version.

Eh? How does that work, then?

You can get mobile locations on pgpsw by people updating where the mobile cameras are and you download them to ur device via ur phones gps.

I think thats how it works

You made the right choice in my view.

I previously subscribed to pocketgps and then got the official Tomtom ones when they were onsale a while back at Dixons for £10

The Tomtom ones are not as accurate nor are they updated as often.

I have recently gone back to pocketgps and am much happier.

I love the Tomtom software but the extras aren't that great, traffic service is ok.

Good deal but poor quality product.

Wouldn't it be an ideal world if we all did this :whistling: . Unfortunately a lot of the camera's are in places where common sense would dictate that the low speed is not necessary and this is backed up by the low accident rates!!! In other words.... traps!!!! (I for one can admit that my TomTom has saved me points in the past.... and Im not a speed freak, Im talking maybe 60mph in a 50 zone not 120 in a 30 before anyone shouts from the high ground!)

i must admit i thought all these updates were free when you bought the thing!

So in short driving with one eye on the speedo and the other on the hedge looking for yellow and none actually watching the road.

That sounds safe.

It's much safe to drive at a sensible speed as near the limit as possible and actually watch for what's going on. This gives you that option and ultimately is much safer than blindly sticking to limits which conditions may make either absurdly low or dangerously high.

I normally do....... :whistling:. To be honest when I posted it I was expecting the "How can you promote such a demonic product....... speed kills". It's ALL due to speed I never drive over 59mph brigade etc etc ;-)
