Heat from me!

Don't know why this is cold tbh. I got a 6100 about 1 year ago for this much. I prefer having a dedicated device over using my phone. The TomTom has always been reliable when a phone not so much.

You can use a phone any smart phone or tablet starting from £50-£150.
Tomtom app cost £15 for 3 devices a year.
Or £35 for 3 years. Includes all updates, cameras & you can use it anywhere in the world no extra charges.

So for £155 you can buy:
- IPhone 6 or nexus 7 tablet to use as a dedicated car device.
You can also use Spotify, google and the rest.
- tomtom go & register 2 more devices
- if your really smart you can mouth the tablet or phone so it looks like part of the car.

That makes your deal look kinda rubbish. Sorry

Like that in my car

Yawn -Sadly the phone users will always vote down a dedicated device even though this is a good deal for those who prefer them. Some people like to use a dedicated device and some like to use their phone. - personal preference.

Did you see my post and picture above?!?Who wouldn’t want that.
Especially when it’s cheaper, can do more, looks great, adds value to your car
And you keep the existing car features.
Never buy a Tomtom, their customer support is non existent, the allow updates that brick devices and won't stand by them. Avoid Aviod

I can see what you've done but like others have said it's personal preference.

Yes you can have a tablet phone etc but we all know overtime even the best slow down. May have battery problems, hardware will get old to support the software, slow performance, overheating. The list can go on.

My old TomTom from 6 years has only been retired because the maps are no longer supported nor the live traffic because things have moved along. If my current TomTom will last the same time I guess it's a good investment for a dedicated device with lifetime subscription services.

Personal preference really. No need to mess around with settings, updates, slow downs or storage issues and let's not forget the cost of putting a SIM card inside with enough data to cover you each month. This and my TomTom both have a SIM inside to access the network.

(Not my post btw)
Or buy the larger 6” TomTom Start 62 from Currys for £109.99 minus £4.28 if you go via Quidco today.

...and is a huge amount of hassle to mount compared to a standalone particularly as the majority of cars from the past decade don't have DIN mounts anymore, as usual it's down to individual choice.

The standalone market is just about dead though, between most new cars coming with built in nav as standard and everyone having a 'free' one in their pocket if not. I gather TomTom's lifetime guarantee isn't worth much anymore either.
Had the go 5100 and got rid of because of its long start up time of 1.5 min, not sure if this one is any better, now use LG g2 and plan to buy mi note 4 due to bigger screen and storage. Your choice

So this iPhone 6 for £155, it comes with free limitless data so it can be used as a sat nav? No, didn’t think so.

I like to use a road atlas.
I've got one of these start up time is seconds. I also use my phone at times. But this Tom Tom is excellent. With traffic warnings etc.

I saw it and I wouldn't want it in my car - but as I say its personal preference ......
Heat added. Have been watching this for a while and was pinged an alert from the camel people of the price drop.

I have an old Garmin with lifetime maps that no longer receives traffic updates so considering defecting.

It does annoy me that the support period (for Garmin or Tom Tom) is so short.

I prefer a sat nav and save my phone battery.
amazing deal but its showing up as £225.98 . please advice

It was on amazon deal of the day. 24hr thing. Sorry you missed it. Mine arrived today. I have 15 of these units for my minibuses a mix of 5100 and 5200 but the 5200 is a super bit of kit. The stand is modified from the 5100 and is more robust, the WiFi updates are so easy compared to earlier models where you had to update on pc. And the traffic feature on this model with alternate route you don’t even have to accept the route and the amount of time the save. Pay for themselves in wages for me in no time. This is the cheapest I’ve ever seen them. The tend to go for more than this 2nd hand on eBay.
