Above Sat Nav system comes with latest map guarantee which basically makes it a TomTom 530, use code FSD2 and get free delivery. + you can get approx £5 quidco back

as your given the latest maps guarantee i dont think you will find a better deal, these are refurbished units direct from TomTom themselves and come with a new cover and screen, so they are virtually new and come with a full 12 months warranty

you also get a free hama carry case too which is worth £19.99

also you get 12 months ticket 2 drive giving discounts on leisure & attractions etc..

nice one OP...thanks

Hot! Carry case is normally £20, and has latest map update guarantee.
Is after updating firmware and maps a TOmTum 530 (indeed (only colour of device is different.

After unpacking make sure to download the latest v8 maps:
- install TomTom home on your PC, make sure your broadband connection is active when using TomTom home
- connect the TomTom via USB cradle
- in TomTom home: click "update my device", so this several times until you're 100% sure there are no toher updates
- Then in TomTom home go to menu Tools > Use Latest Map guarantee

I would add, before you start, make a complete backup using copy and paste in Windows Explorer (not using the backup option in TomTom HOME which is buggy).

And once you've upgraded to the latest version of the app and got the latest map, make another backup then too.

I would add the TOMTOM genuine cases for these are rubbish, the zips are poor and they break - look at reviews on line for it... the TOMTOM is kool though

very nice thanks:thumbsup:

the hama case is actually pretty good, it comes with inside compartment to store sd cards etc.. and is cushioned from the inside and has 2 elastic straps on the inside to hold the tom tom unit firmly inside

has a detachable shoulder strap and you can attach it to your belt

this is the bag (it comes in black like this) not red / grey

Hot and rep.

Will this have european maps on it ?

I don't think the 520 does.

I got the 720 from them in December last year which does. Brilliant device.

Nice one, you'll be pleased with the 720. Works like a dream and you'll get the most up to date maps too.

I signed up for the map update service, it cost 34 quid for the year once you're on the latest map. You then get the next 4 quarterly new maps to keep the device up to date.

Very pleased with mine indeed.

Received mines a couple of days ago. Absolutely fantastic piece of kit. Voice direction control takes a bit of getting used to but the built in music player, built in bluetooth voice calling/dialing and widescreen make this an oustanding bargain for the wholesome price of around £110 including the quidco cashback.

Well pleased

make sure you update it to include the latest maps, alg and iq routes

Are you sure you get the LMG with this? It doesn't say in the "what's included" and I'm sure I read they had stopped including it with the refurbs from TotalPDA.

Have updated loads of tomtom recently, you get the latest tomtom maps as long as you update within the first 30 days of switching on the device. However in my experience you do not receive the iq routes or lane mapping functions, these are only available on the newer models xl version 3, 530,730,930 and the ones v5.

I bought one in Feb this year which came with maps but I heard the policy changed around May 09. See last post here totalpda.co.uk/for…tml I just think it may be worth confirming if latest maps are important to you.

If latest maps ,ALG and IQ routes are important just have a quick google and I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago and you definately can update to the latest maps with lane guidance, IQ routes and spoken street names. Works a treat, and the case is alright too.

hi all
i already own a 720
am i reading this correctly
if i pay for the latest maps
will i get iq routes and lane assist
or do i just need to upgrade the firmware to the latest and get it all for free
sorry if i seem a little thick but only just found out about the upgrades
thanx in advance

cool! but I'm not really wanting a refurb. will hang off for a deal on new stock. H+R for the deal though, will be good for someone.

Top GPS, used my 520 every working day for 18 months in the emergency services. The voice recognition is superb and pretty faultless if the street is in the map.
Only cons I can think of are the battery, (90 mins at the most in navigation mode) and the speaker which is pretty poor, however the line out and/or FM transmitter can sort that out.
The bluetooth handsfree / txt to speech is nice too if you have a compatable phone. (Sony Ericsson works best)

Highly recommended.

They way I understand it is you can update your maps to the latest available within 30 days of either first turning the device on/connecting it to the computer (not sure which). However, the latest maps only work with the latest firmware so you get that too by default and that is why you get all the extra features.

I second that

Dont know about anybody else but iv used just about every make of satnav, and tomtom get it right, simple and easy.

yep you definitely get advanced lane guidance and iq routes when you update this device to the latest maps using the latest map guarantee

Good timing - my last satnav committed suicide last week - it fell off the windshield directly onto the gear stick and smashed the touch screen sensor glass. You can imagine the foulness of my mood on that trip!

Thanks to everyone (and the OP) for all the useful info. It looks like the 720 is the way to go if you can stretch the more expensive price, and from the the reviews on the site and comments here it can be updated in the same way as the 520.

Many thanks for this OP! Bought one last week, through your deal. It's a bargain at this price! Would definitely buy a refurb again. The quality is excellent! Have some heat!!!

doesn't mention the IQ on the listing...?

(isn't th IQ bit where it shows which lane u need to be in?)

That is the Advanced Lane Guidance...IQ Routes is: tomtom.com/why…t=3

just ordered the 530 + free leather case.. 23 pounds more dearer but prefer the new black casing and it also has 1Gig of internal ram. and Text to Speech. (not 100% sure but I think this will get updated on the 520 when you update to the latest IQ Routes maps)

The 520 is still a fantastic deal..... remember the Hama free cases are only worth 6quid.. check it out on www.7dayshop.com

I purchased a new 520 from Cdiscount last week for £129.99 plus £4.20 back from Quidco using their savtnav code. I preferred to pay a few pounds more for a brand new 520 but it is a great satnav and does have text to speech and lane guidance.

It offered me 4 map updates a year for £27 when I registered the unit online with TomTom.

Can someone tell me please if i said on here that this was a great deal (just brought one) and said all should buy. Then asked how did i get the lane assist and iq bit working why it did not post?

Not sure how this all works

many thanks

from totoalpda? high chances are that the 530 "MAY" not come with the latest maps though, and it has no latest map guarantee with it, hence why i went with the 520

the 530 could come with maps earliest as early 2008 which is why i didn't take the gamble

to get the latest maps, advanced lane guidance and iq routes

1) log into tomtom home
2) select tools at the top
3) then select "use latest map guarantee"

best to backup the device 1st though in case a problem should arise
then update and if all goes well which it should, then backup again

yep ordered from totalpda. Any sat nav you order from tom tom has a 30 free map update once the unit is switched on.. Got to say though 520 is a bargain at that price..

check out the following link satnav-discounts.co.uk/tom…htm

I got the 720 from the same site after seeing this deal (with the discount code, and quidco already tracked).

Figured even if i want to take one trip to europe the extra £30 is worth it as tomtom charge a fortune for the downloadable maps (i think even France alone was £50)

Bought an SD card from 7dayshop (apparently the latest maps dont fit on 720's inbuilt memory) and a RMS-TMC receiver off ebay. Hopefully it all works - free trial of sat nav on my blackberry just expired!
