Was thinking the same, and this made me take the plunge to renew too. Would have saved hours in the recent floods.
This is one of the best purchases I have made, traffic has saved me hundreds of hours on the road, thanks
Great price for a great service, well worth it if you travel a lot.
Already posted, code mentioned in the thread to bring it down to £20.50.

Heat added but gutted as I got mine last night before checking here first
Is this compatible with the iPhone version? i.e. if you buy and add to your tomtom account will the iPhone version recognise it when you restore purchases?
Ordered
Perfect, just got my renewal through this week too. Thanks
Can you stack it?
Thanks O/P,
Brill mine runs out end of dec. heat added
very good price - heat added
Mine won't run out til the summer. Can you buy now and use later?
Same q as above...
Thanks for that, saved a few quid there, TomTom also offer 8% Quidco, although whether you get it with the discount code as well, not sure, but no harm in trying.

My original subscription would end on 17/01/2013, now shows 17/01/2014, so it has added onto original subscription, for those who were wondering..
Great spot; but not for older models- won't work on my Go 520.
Still hot though!
Does anyone now if the live services are tied to just the email id (tomtom account) we use when purchase them or do they in anyway tie up with the device as well? I might upgrade to another device in the future and I am wondering if I can just use the live services on my account by logging into that device.

Yes, you can stack this, as there was a similar deal on a while ago and my current service had not expired. It simply extends your renewal date happy days
Just updated my TomTom with this. My Live service was set to expire in Mar 2013 now it got extended till March 2014. I am just thinking is it worth stacking it again on top of this to get live services till 2015 coz its really good price
I"ve just updated mine and it has stacked it now runs into 2014 really good price

I thought about this but TomTom are under a bit of financial pressure with free smartphone satnav apps, so I decided not to take the gamble of being stuck with an unusable subscription should they go bust. They already removed the very useful google search from live :-(.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well if anyone else knows?
when you go through the purchase process, it checks the compatibility of your device, so should tell you if it will work on the iphone, i would think anyway

It might not be called Google Search anymore but you can still do a Local Search to find a destination and it returns similar results to the previous Google Search.
I've just stacked 2 years using the other code GYMGATGBP as you can't use the same one more than once. I find this well worth the service and can't recommend it enough.
Still working - thanks
Great find! Ive used Live Services before when ive found the occasional promotion and been pleased with the results for avoiding traffic jams. I don't drive long distances very much and where I live the roads are quiet. Great price for occasional use. Wouldn't want to spend a lot on something I rarely use. The 2 vouchers worked great so thats me till December 2014. Thanks

I would say that the Tom Tom speed camera database is crap. The PocketGPSWorld database is great on the other hand.

Do you mean bought using the the original code and then bought another year using second code?? Can't see any 2 year options, just 12 months.

Also can anyone tell me can I buy this as a suprise gift or do you need account details of current tomtom owner?

You have to make 2 separate purchases. First code gets you 12 months then the other code extends it for another 12 months.
Thanks to the OP, I could not put the voucher code in my TomTom Home program on the PC so went through the website and it allowed me use it, another year of live updates for £20, thank you and Merry Christmas to you all.:)

Ho ho ho. Merry Christmas.
Just updated my VIA LIVE 125 using the offer and code TTGYMGBP8 for £20.50, very easy and now covered until January 2014. Good saving on the email renewal offer of £47.50 that I received from TomTom today.

The TopCashback £1.37 cashback (note that the 8.08% is on the ex VAT price) also tracked for me taking the cost down to £19.13. I will also be getting another 31p back from Barclaycard (former Egg Money card with normal 1% cashback currently increased to 1.5% by Barclaycard for 6 months to compensate for recent shoddy customer service) in due course taking the price down to a final £18.82 for a 12 Months Live Services subscription.

I agree that TomTom should not have ditched Google for TomTom Places but the latter does now work up to a point (although inferior to Google with a lot of duplicates at the same location) and HD Traffic also works up to a point and for £18.82 for a years is still worth it. For £47.50 a year it was too much and the original £80 per year (which I fortunately never had to pay) way too much.

Like another poster I'm still thinking about whether or not to gamble on a second year's Live services sub with the other code (my current sub didn't run out till June anyway) at this low price as I don't see any possibility of TomTom ever offering the service any cheaper. Also even if TomTom goes bust I'm pretty sure that Garmin or Apple would acquire them and continue to run the current Live services. If that didn't happen I could simply enter a Chargeback dispute with my credit card issuer as they should also cover against the bankruptcy of a supplier in relation to services already purchased on a credit card.

The £8 off TomTom voucher codes also only occur from time to time and are certainly not available year round and it is also not yet clear whether £28.50 is a permanent long term lower price for the Live services on their standalone units (TomTom are still charging a higher price for :Live services for their built in Carminat and other similar units) or is only a temporary short term promotion.

My only concern about doing so is that if I go for the double renewal my Live 940 will be six years old in June 2015 and I wonder if it will actually last that long. Although I suspect it will as the actual hardware seems quite robust despite the shoddy earlier versions of the firmware (v 9.465 seems a lot better than earlier efforts including v9.058) and the numerous special user tricks needed to keep the unit running when it appears to have hung or otherwise died.
The only other concern would be that as my 940 and most TomTom Live units still use GPRS data and cannot be upgraded to 3G letalone 4G will there still be a Live service available on GPRS as late as 2015?

The only threat would be if the 2.5G network was actually closed down by this date in the UK or elsewhere in Europe. On the whole I suspect this us unlikely and that 2.5G will probably be around for at least another five years.

Normally for goods from the TomTom shop that are actually shipped you could just start up another account with a different email address (even if using the same postal address and ordering person name and credit card number) but for a Live account this wouldn't be very safe or wise since your email address is also how you log in on the TomTom servers with the unit in order to access the extended Live services subscription. So far better just to use the second £8 discount code for anyone confident enough that their unit and/or TomTom will still be functioning for another 2 years or more.

The main reason for considering the gamble is in case TomTom return the Live services price to the original £47.50 and/or are also not offering any £8 discount vouchers when subscription expiry time comes around.
This code also worked for me: TTWCPCHGBP to get £8 Off!
