TomTom One Europe v3 - £139 @ PC World

Found 22nd Oct 2007Made hot 22nd Oct 2007
Got two tomtomt's stolen last week, so went online on pcworld.co.uk and booked (for in-store pickup) 2x Tomtom One UK v2 units, hence I still think the older v2 version is much superior than the new v3. However they have v2 One Europe at the same price. Out of stock, but it doesn't affect their price promise however! So, simply went there with that printoff for 2x one uk v2's for 139 each, and asked the guy if they have the one EU v2 in stock. Went to the back, and brought two EU v3 satnavs. Said that its a miracle but we still got them!
Checkout girl called the manager, and he confirmed, that they should match 139 on their website, instead 179 in shop...

Long story short, europe v3 for 139, 24mths guarantee, cheaper than Ebay.

Just FYI: The actual PCW policy is that it has to be in stock to price match. Seems you were lucky this time.

Oh, that's quite good then.

143 on Amazon.

As a note, the PCWorld website won't let you reserve for '[email protected]' unless they have a few of them left - generally more than 3 items in stock, but, it varies per-product (e.g. large TFT TV's will often show up if there's only one/two in stock etc... as less likely for those to be sold). It can therefore show as not available for [email protected], but, they can still have them there.

In terms of price promise, PCWorld will *always* match their website prices.

Yup, must be in stock and must be available at a local retail outlet. You work at PCW too? ;-)

Unless it's 'web only' 'web exclusive' or a clearance/recon item.

Could somebody please post a link to the discussion on here previously about the differences between the Tomtom One v2 and v3

Many thanks

Satnavs from John lewis only get you 5% on Quidco I'm afraid. Still a good price though.

Q: What are the differences between the TomTom ONE V2 and V3?

Dimensions & weight are the same on both models. The only aesthetic difference is a silver band round the screen on the V3, opposed to a black band on the V2.

The V2 has an SD card slot with the maps on, the V3 stores maps in internal memory and the SD card slot is empty.

The V3 has an FM traffic receiver jack on the rear. The V2 can not be used with the FM traffic receiver (sold seperately).

The V2 comes with a 2 year TomTom warranty, the V3 comes with a 1 year warranty.

The V3 supports Mapshare - this allows users to upload changes to the maps, (e.g. their local area), and for all users to benefit from the update (once verified by TomTom).

The V3 is shipped with the very latest maps and software (*these are now available for download for the V2).

The V3 uses a different chipset than the V2. There is little difference to the user. It's been suggested that the V2 is very slightly faster at calculating complex routes.

The V2 has Bluetooth 2.0 for data download. The V3 does not have Bluetooth.

Battery life is reportedly the same on both models.
thanks for the post, voted hot, just been to pc world north shields and picked up the last one (WED 13.00 24 OCT) even though the website said no stock. as mentioned above if less than 3 in stock web will say no stock so may be worth a visit to your local store. no point in phoning as they also said no stock. hope this is of help.

I know V2 TomTom One supports mapshare now.

Can someone post the sku number from pc world?

I have just bought the Tomtom one V3 Europe from halfrods £169.99 but matching amazon's £143.70 with the code HALTTEU at checkout. If you go through Quidco This beats amazon's price by £5.75 in cashback!!:w00t: :-D £138 delivered! Bargain especially since the on-line price at PC-world appears to have increased...

How does that work then?

TomTom release v7 software for TomTom One 2nd edition and original edition. Only thing is you need updated maps to version 675. That would mean you have buy the latest from TomTom.

I have a letter from TomTom indicating that since 2005, all TomToms purchased in Europe have a 2 Year warranty, as my TT 910 needed a repair a week after it was a year old.
